Chapter 312: Turning point (5)

Rina tried to heal Luke as fast as possible, but the wound wasn’t closing as fast as usual. Those seeds could make plants grow... Plants that feed on their target’s blood and they also could even decrease their healing speed. It was quite the nasty plant... As expected of one of the attacks of the wannabe poison ivy. It certainly was one of the abilities that a woman was born with, that only made Luke madder, though.

Regardless, thanks to that attack, the fish-man had the chance to recover before Luke could capitalize on his first attack. In any case, it wasn’t like he was expecting to take one of them that fast.

"Shalia, focus on blocking her attacks," Luke said. "Keep an eye on all of her moves."

"You got it," Shalia said and then nodded.

"Rina, focus less on endurance and more on strength with your support," Luke said. "I can take their hits."

"... All right," Rina said.

Rina didn’t like that idea very much, but there wasn’t time to argue. She could only hope that Luke won’t take much more damage than she could recover with her magic. When Luke prepared his next attack, the dwarf swung down his ax, and then Luke felt the gravity around him increase. Almost immediately, his knees began to make worrisome noises, and he couldn’t do anything to stop that... To make matters worse, the fish man and the giant woman dashed to attack him from the sides again.

Luke clicked his tongue in annoyance since he was forced to show another of his cards... He used Checkpoint to escape those attacks and the gravity field. In any case, at least he learned something... Luke began to run around while using ConcentraTed Strike, and when the dwarf swung his ax again, Luke used his skull and the power of his ring.

The combination made the dwarf roll on the ground while his face was dropping some blood... Luke saw that he couldn’t move while the gravity field was active. The field disappeared, and then the other two got caught by surprise when Luke hit one of them with Lightning and the other with a torrent of spark balls. The spark balls had been particularly effective on the fish man, probably because his body didn’t just like one of a fish. Nevertheless, Luke stopped because the dwarf had recovered from the unpleasant surprise, and Luke couldn’t show his back to them.

While Luke was considering his options, the enemies didn’t look to be in a hurry to attack. They were recovering from the damage they suffered in order to start the next confrontation from scratch. It was annoying, but Luke couldn’t just attack them. Fortunately, he could use Concentrated Strike. To make sure that the enemies wouldn’t notice what Luke was doing, Shalia created a massive fireball above them. The overlords took a step backward when they saw flames turning into blue... It seemed that Shalia had gotten a bit stronger again since those flames were obviously stronger than the orange one.

When she got tired of increasing the size of her attack, Shalia fired the sphere of flames toward the plant woman. She quickly raised a giant wall of earth to block the attack, but even that easily melted before its fearsome power. Still, it bought enough time for the others to join her and use numerous water attacks to slow down the fireball. The fish man created numerous ice walls, and that had been particularly effective against that attack... Still, when they finished dealing with the flames, Luke used Concentrated attack and ripped another part of the flesh off that guy’s face.

It seemed that Drork was the tank of that group since he was quite hot-headed... in any case, Luke’s attack had been pretty good. Still, it only worked to knock down the fish guy for a couple of seconds, and when he got up, he glared at him like he was the murderer of his entire family.

The fish man began to spin its trident, and then in the next moment, several ice spears appeared around Luke and were very close... Shalia tried to burn those before they could be fired, but she only managed to stop half of them. Luke managed to punch and destroy a few others when they were shot, but several of them still pierced his shoulders and legs. They didn’t reach the bones and muscles, but the pain was annoying, and the freezing effect was spread around the wounds. Shalia quickly worked to burn those as well, but then Luke was attacked by the giant woman that dashed toward him with all her might. Suddenly, her speed increased, and Luke could only defend himself. While the weapons collided, Luke was pushed backward at a fearsome speed and only stopped after rolling on the ground for a while.

"They are supposed to be melee fighters... But the effects of their weapons grants them quite a lot more cards to play with..." Luke thought.

Their combo could be troublesome, so Luke had to hurry and take some of them down as fast as possible... Apparently, they didn’t have any healers, so the task wouldn’t be impossible.

Luke began to run around while he was charging another concentrated strike, and the enemies soon realized that. Knowing that he also had the equipment of their fallen comrade, they couldn’t let him do what he wanted any longer. So, the dwarf stepped backward and then used his ax and its effect. After Luke’s body became heavy, the fish-man used its trident to attack with his ice spears again. Luke tried to fight against that, and with Shalia’s help, he protected his vitals, but the wounds and damage were building up. To finish that annoying combo, the giant woman attacked with all her might again. Luke dodged by using Checkpoint. However, as if she had predicted where Luke would appear, the plant woman made some plants emerge from the ground and around Luke...
