Chapter 2608: Chapter 2601: Catching Adultery in the Act

He wanted to see if what people were saying was true or not.

If what people said was true, he would kill Liu Qiaoqiao, who put a green hat on his brother, with a shovel.

If what people said was false, he would have to settle scores with this group today.

He couldn’t let them tarnish his brother like that.

Liu Qiaoqiao’s brother-in-law came to Zhao Ergou’s house aggressively.

Seeing a group of people gathered around the door, pointing and gesticulating in groups of three or five.

Angry, he stepped forward with his palm raised, and forcefully slapped Zhao Ergou’s front door.

"Get out here!" he yelled loudly as he slapped, "Liu Qiaoqiao, are you inside? If you’re there, get out here quickly! If you don’t come out, don’t blame me for barging in."

Inside the room, the adulterous couple heard this and trembled with fear; Liu Qiaoqiao hadn’t expected to bring trouble to her brother-in-law by her actions.

"What should I do now? If he finds out, my life will probably be over," Liu Qiaoqiao said fearfully.

The two had no time to blame each other and could only rack their brains to devise a plan.

"Why don’t you find a place to hide?" Zhao Ergou suggested, "Find a good hiding spot, and I’ll go open the door. Once they see there’s no one to find, they’ll surely leave."

"Where can I hide?" Zhao Ergou’s house is so dilapidated, where could one hide?

Zhao Ergou thought for a moment and said, "How about hiding in the cellar in the yard?"

Besides that, there was no other place to hide.

Liu Qiaoqiao gritted her teeth and agreed; it was better than being discovered.

If everyone found out, she’d lose face, and more importantly, her brother-in-law would surely beat her to death.

Her married life with her husband would be over, with nothing left but divorce.

Zhao Ergou’s yard had an abandoned cellar; it used to be a place for storing winter vegetables or summer fruits.

But ever since the elders in his family passed away, Zhao Ergou lived alone, with one meal, no certainty of the next.

His home was so messy it looked like a garbage dump; he didn’t even clean his house well, let alone the cellar in the yard.

He and Liu Qiaoqiao quietly got up from the bed, while he coughed, calling out, "Who’s there? Letting a person sleep without peace at night!"

"Zhao Ergou, open the door! So many people have been knocking at your door for ages, why haven’t you opened it? Are you guilty?" Liu Qiaoqiao’s elder brother-in-law shouted.

"What? I didn’t hear anyone knocking, I had some drinks after dinner and lied down. I was woken up by you." Zhao Ergou said while aiming his gun, directing Liu Qiaoqiao to head out.

Just as the two reached the doorway, He Mu, crouching on the roof, seized the opportunity to shoot down a hornet’s nest with a slingshot.

The hornet’s nest crashed to the ground, and the hornets, startled, buzzed violently and began to sting Zhao Ergou and Liu Qiaoqiao mercilessly.

"Ah!" Liu Qiaoqiao let out a sharp scream, which traveled exceptionally far in the quiet village night.

Everyone waiting outside the door heard it clear and distinct, making it impossible for them to deny it next time.

Liu Qiaoqiao’s elder brother-in-law heard the woman’s voice, his face darkened, and he kicked the door panel with a loud bang.
