Talent Awakening: Rise Of The Underestimated All-Profession Awakener!
Chapter 50: Getting Out
The plan was for Roman to summon them, get the chains broken first, and then the next thing the Soul Servants would do was buy time for them to escape.
Roman already had something like this in mind before, so it hadn’t taken him much time to process everything.
The Dire Wolf Alpha appeared first, and the Goblin King appeared next. Within the space of half a second, the Blade Ant Queen could be seen standing right next to her master, waiting for the direct order.
Arnold had almost thrown himself out of the caravan when he saw this happening in front of him, his eyes widening in utter, uncontrollable shock.
If he wasn’t chained, or if the caravan windows weren’t locked, he would have long escaped right from there in an instant.
"WHAT THE HELL!!!"
"Shuuuuu..."
Roman suddenly wrapped Arnold’s mouth with his hand and asked him to shut his mouth, and well, despite the fact that he was sweating and almost shitting his pants, he tried to.
"Hey, Queen. Cut the chains," Roman turned to the Blade Ant Queen and ordered.
And at that very instant, the Blade Ant Queen used her bladed mandibles to slice the chains on Roman’s wrists like they were pieces of meat, without harming him by a single bit.
And then Roman nodded towards Arnold.
"Free him too."
Arnold had almost screamed out loud when the Blade Ant Queen approached him, and he had almost fainted when he saw the big blades coming at him.
He had to close his eyes to prevent himself from anything further, and soon, he suddenly felt something come off his arms, and when he opened his eyes...
The chains were already gone.
Arnold let out a loud sigh of relief, and right before he could turn to Roman, he noticed the young man had already gotten down to business.
"Ten men are guarding the caravan, and I want you all to distract them for me. Don’t kill... I mean, do something that wouldn’t hurt them. I don’t want North hunting me for killing ten of her men. Besides, it isn’t as if it would be that easy for you guys to take down ten C-rankers."
The three monsters suddenly reacted with what looked like indifferent expressions on their faces, and Roman knew he had to apologize.
"Okay, okay, okay... I’m sorry about that."
Then he saw their faces light up again.
"But that’s the plan. Make sure their attention is completely taken. For at least three minutes so we can buy ourselves enough time to get the heck out of here. Understood?"
The three monsters happened to make gestures that showed they concurred, and Roman nodded.
"Good."
Arnold had just been there watching in awe, seeing Roman communicate with monsters!
’Even Beast Tamers and Summoners can’t speak this way to their companions. Who the hell is this guy???’ Arnold thought.
"Hey... You ready?"
Before Arnold knew it, Roman was already asking if he was ready, and with a hesitant look, he still nodded.
"Yes."
"Yeah, better be. This might be the only chance we’ve got," Roman said.
He soon turned to the Soul Servants and then gave them a go-ahead gesture for their mission, and soon, the caravan door was bashed open, and three monsters dashed out from it.
The guards noticed them immediately, and the chaos broke out at once.
"Monsters! Monsters!"
The scene had escalated into pure chaos, and all kinds of combat and magic energies began to explode from one point to another.
GRRROOOOOWLLLLLL!
GRRRAAAAAAR...!
At that point, Roman was already considering which way they would take, and after a short moment of observation, he noticed that the front side of the caravan was clear.
He suddenly stood up and dashed towards the front, and Arnold didn’t waste a second before following suit. Roman used Queenfang to make an opening in the glass-like front window, as they took that route right on time.
When they had gotten out of the caravan, Roman didn’t dare start running out of the scene. They had to wait and study the area for a moment before he slowly decided what path to take.
He turned to the villa in the distance, and then to the large city on the other side, and then to the other side of the city, which he would say was the busiest part of the city.
Even at night, he could still hear the buzzing and liveliness in the distance, and at that very point, he had decided that running towards that direction wouldn’t be a bad idea at all.
They needed to escape to where they wouldn’t be noticed, and at least where it would be even harder to detect anything.
That was the best option.
And without more thinking, Roman made his way there and continued to run until he was pretty far off.
When he noticed he had reached the very point where no one would notice them, he quickly dismissed the Soul Servants, who suddenly disappeared while battling with the C-rankers around the caravan.
...
The guards appeared to be stunned and terrified, as having monsters disappear without dying was unnatural and unbelievable!
One of them quickly rushed to the caravan and inspected all parts of it, and all he could see were broken chains.
"They are gone."
"What? How?"
A lot of them were astonished, and another tension was caused among them.
In a moment, a man who appeared to be in his late fifties approached them with two other men, his face stern and dark.
"What happened here?" he asked.
"The hostages. They escaped," one of the guards said.
"What?! How?" The man’s face grew even darker.
"Three monsters suddenly broke out of the caravan while we were guarding. A Blade Ant, a giant Blue Goblin, and a giant Dire Wolf. We don’t know how, but we were trying to get rid of them when they suddenly disappeared.
When we tried to check back at the caravan to inspect the hostages, we realized that they were no longer there."
The man stayed silent for a moment, thought for a while, and decided not to say any more words about it.
"Send word to the Mayor. We demand her presence right now."
He ordered one of the men that had followed him there, and then walked towards the caravan and observed for a while.
"We tried our best, Master Herlan. We were attentive the whole time. I believe the hostages used those monsters to create a distraction," one of the guards said.
And the man chuckled and shook his head.
"That’s if there were truly any hostages."
