Teaming Up with My Enemy to Rule the Apocalypse
Chapter 160: Third Level Superpower User? An Existence Beyond Reach?
"Zombies!"
Just as she heard the startled cry, Sierra Sullivan spotted the zombies.
They were on the fifth floor, and zombies were now appearing on the stairs leading both up and down.
The zombies were hideous and reeked of rot.
They moved in strange, jerky ways, their bodies stiff and unnatural.
Sierra Sullivan wasn’t sure if they had a sense of smell, but the creatures had clearly detected them and were now swarming in their direction.
Even in the hallway leading to the fifth floor, dozens of zombies were surging toward them.
The sight of them was enough to make your skin crawl.
It wasn’t simple fear, but an indescribable feeling.
What worried Sierra Sullivan more was Dominic Crawford and the others.
After all, she and Jayce had killed zombies before. Even though there were more of them this time, they wouldn’t hesitate to fight.
But Dominic Crawford and the others only knew of the zombies’ existence; they had never seen one in person, let alone fought one.
’Can they really handle this now that they’re facing zombies for the first time?’
"Mr. Crawford!" Jayce’s voice rang out. "Everyone else, listen up! Remember, these are zombies. They might have human forms, but they aren’t people anymore. When we engage, don’t you dare go soft on them. Most importantly, be careful not to get scratched or bitten. Otherwise, even as Superpower Users, you’ll likely get infected and turn into one of them."
’Who would want to become a zombie?’
No one here wanted that, that was for sure.
Anyone who had been hesitant a moment ago now wore a look of grim resolve after hearing Jayce’s warning.
As they spoke, the zombies from both ends of the fifth-floor hallway had reached them.
It was only because the zombies moved slowly that Jayce even had the chance to say all that.
Sierra Sullivan didn’t say a word. She pulled a large machete from her space and swung it directly at a zombie’s neck.
Although using her Superpower would be more convenient and simple, it would also consume more energy.
’There’s no telling how many zombies are on the floors above and below. I have to conserve energy where I can.’
Sierra Sullivan didn’t just do this herself; she made sure to remind the others too.
Besides their Superpowers, everyone also had their own weapons, including both melee weapons and firearms.
One person immediately pulled out a gun and shot at a zombie’s head.
After all this time fighting, their marksmanship had improved greatly.
Plus, at such a short distance, a headshot was no problem at all.
Just as a joyful expression appeared on the person’s face, he saw that the zombie he’d shot in the head only faltered for a moment before staggering toward him again.
"What’s going on?"
The shooter was shocked, never having expected such an outcome.
’Its head exploded, but it’s still walking? This is unbelievable!’
"Unless you cut off their heads, they can still move!" Sierra Sullivan shouted.
Hearing Sierra Sullivan say this, the man finally understood and quickly put away his gun.
’If a headshot doesn’t work, shooting the body is even more pointless. No sense in wasting bullets.’
Dominic Crawford had also taken out his own machete. While swinging it relentlessly, he laughed and said, "Sierra, now I get why you brought out the machete."
Everything, every choice, happens for a reason. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Completely surrounded by zombies, their movements were severely restricted.
However, as the number of zombie corpses on the ground gradually increased, it became more difficult for the other zombies to get close.
This gave Sierra Sullivan and her group a slight chance to catch their breath.
So they formed a circle.
While the people on the outer ring killed zombies, those in the inner circle could take the opportunity to rest and replenish their stamina or Superpower energy.
Once they had rested enough, they would swap places, letting those who had just been fighting move to the inner circle to rest.
This way, they wouldn’t get too exhausted and could hold out for much longer.
...
Building Two, Tenth Floor.
Felix Foley walked to the window, picked up a pair of binoculars, and looked toward Building One.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t see a thing.
Felix Foley irritably threw down the binoculars and looked at Autumn Lynch. "Are you sure those zombies can deal with them?"
’If the zombies kill them, then there’s no problem.’
’But if the zombies fail, and those people come looking for us...’
Seeing the conflicted and worried look on Felix Foley’s face, Autumn Lynch sneered inwardly.
’With a gut that small, he’s trying to play the boss?’
’If my Superpower wasn’t weaker than his, I’d have kicked him to the curb and taken over as leader myself long ago.’
Although she was thinking this, she knew she still had to offer some comfort.
"Felix, don’t be so anxious!"
"Even if the zombies can’t kill all of them, they’ll wear them down significantly!"
"When they come looking for us, how could they possibly be your match, Felix? You’re a Third Level Superpower User now! You’re completely out of our league!"
Nathan Thorne was tied up not far away.
Nathan had been unconscious earlier, but he’d actually been awake for a while now.
But to avoid being discovered, Nathan had been feigning unconsciousness, hoping to overhear what they planned to do with him.
’I didn’t expect to hear something like that, though.’
’A Third Level Superpower User?’
’An existence completely out of their league?’
’Does that Autumn Lynch even think before she speaks?’
’Does she actually think a Third Level Superpower User is invincible?’
’Relying on a single Third Level Superpower User and they still delude themselves into thinking they can take on Sierra Sullivan and Jayce? Where did they get this confidence?’
The more Nathan Thorne thought about it, the funnier it seemed. He tried to hold it in, but in the end, he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
The sound wasn’t loud, but in the quiet room, it was perfectly clear and instantly reached the ears of Felix Foley and Autumn Lynch.
Autumn Lynch immediately looked over at Nathan Thorne. "You’re laughing? You’re awake?"
Felix Foley strode over to Nathan Thorne, squatted down, and grabbed his chin. "Speak! What are you laughing at? What’s so funny? Do you know something?"
Before Nathan Thorne could answer, a suspicion bloomed in Felix Foley’s mind. He blurted out, "Their Superpowers... are they a higher level than mine? Are they stronger than me?"
Nathan Thorne kept his mouth shut.
But in a situation like this, silence was the loudest answer.
Felix Foley understood instantly.
His mood, which had only just settled, instantly plummeted.
Felix Foley strode around the room, pacing back and forth restlessly.
The others didn’t understand what was wrong with Felix Foley and looked at him strangely.
