The woman only dared to shout at Sierra Sullivan because she saw Sierra was a girl and didn’t think she was a threat.

But she didn’t dare to be so brazen in the face of the tall, imposing, and incredibly firm Dominic Crawford.

No matter how resentful she felt, she didn’t dare challenge Dominic Crawford again and silently clamped her mouth shut.

Seeing she’d finally behaved, Dominic Crawford withdrew his gaze and looked toward Sierra Sullivan. "We’re about ready. We can head back now! Mr. Everett will be over in a bit."

"Got it!" Sierra Sullivan nodded. "Tell him not to worry about me. He just needs to stay safe."

"Alright!"

Before he left, Dominic Crawford shot the woman another warning glance.

As she watched Dominic Crawford leave, the woman huffed indignantly, but ultimately, she didn’t dare say anything more.

’She would wait!’

’She’d deal with this once they were back at the base!’

’She refused to believe there was no justice left in the world!’

More than ten minutes later, Jayce boarded the vehicle and pulled the door shut.

"Back to the base!"

The driver heard the order and immediately started the vehicle. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

The vehicle slowly began to move, and everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.

’They were finally leaving this place!’

’Once they reached the base, everything would be alright!’

The atmosphere inside the vehicle gradually grew lively.

The survivors were all chattering, full of hopes and expectations, believing that everything would be perfect once they reached the base.

Sierra Sullivan listened to their chatter but said nothing.

’They would find out once they got to the base. Life there was completely different from what they were expecting.’

Still, she saw no reason to shatter their illusions just yet.

’Some things they just had to see for themselves.’

On the way back to the base, Sierra Sullivan kept her eyes peeled on their surroundings.

The sandstorm raged on, but it didn’t seem to be getting any worse.

No mutated animals suddenly appeared, either.

Perhaps their luck was good, as they made it all the way back to the base without a hitch.

The moment she stepped out of the vehicle, Sierra Sullivan let out a long sigh.

’Finally, they were back!’

Dominic Crawford would handle the arrangements for the rescued survivors, so these matters had nothing more to do with Sierra Sullivan or Jayce.

The two of them took Candice Tate and went straight to see Kevin Everett.

Kevin Everett was overjoyed to see them return safely.

Before he could say anything, he noticed Candice Tate, whose hand was held by Sierra Sullivan.

"And this is?"

’They went out to rescue survivors, so why did they come back with a child?’

Jayce immediately explained, "This is Candice Tate. Her mother died, and she has no other family."

Kevin Everett fell silent upon hearing this.

It wasn’t that Kevin Everett was cold-hearted. It was just that since the apocalypse began, there were countless children like Candice Tate.

He had seen many of them.

The base already housed quite a few such children.

"Then send her to the twelfth floor!"

The twelfth floor was now specially designated for housing children without families. They were provided with food and water, taught lessons, made to do whatever work they were capable of, and, if they were willing, they could even try to awaken a Superpower.

Although Candice Tate didn’t know what the twelfth floor was, she was sharp enough to understand it meant being separated from Sierra Sullivan. She subconsciously hid behind her.

"Candice Tate is a Wood Ability User," Sierra Sullivan said. "Sending her to the twelfth floor might not be the best fit."

"She’s a Wood Ability User?" Kevin Everett was shocked, but also pleasantly surprised.

In the entire base, Hugo Cheney was the only Wood Ability User.

Now, they finally had another one!

Even if this new one was just a five or six-year-old child!
