’We’re all Superpower Users, so how can the difference be so huge?!’

’Is this the power of talent?’

To say they weren’t envious would be a lie.

But it was just envy, and nothing more.

Beyond envy, they were mostly just thankful.

They were lucky to have powerful people like Jayce and Sierra Sullivan. Otherwise, they would have likely been worn down to their deaths.

Some Aberrant Beasts might be incredibly strong to an ordinary person.

But for a Superpower User, they were actually easy to kill.

However, no matter how easy they were to kill, if their numbers were too great, it was impossible to handle them all.

Once their Superpowers were completely depleted while Aberrant Beasts continued to pour in, even Superpower Users could only wait for death. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The arrival of Sierra Sullivan and Jayce didn’t just give them a chance to breathe—it was practically a free win.

Sierra didn’t know how much time had passed, nor how many Aberrant Beasts she had killed.

All she could see was the growing number of Aberrant Beast corpses on the ground.

Her Superpower reserves were more than halfway depleted, and she was starting to feel mentally exhausted.

Just then, Jayce slowly shifted closer.

"Sierra, how are you holding up? Go back and rest for a bit!"

"Don’t push yourself!"

"We don’t know how long this will last. We need to think long-term."

The refusal that was on the tip of Sierra’s tongue was swallowed back down after hearing Jayce’s words.

Before Sierra could even fall back, Dominic Crawford had already approached with his people.

"Both of you, go back and rest! We’ll take it from here!"

As he spoke, Dominic Crawford led his group to the front, intercepting all the Aberrant Beasts.

Seeing this, Sierra and Jayce exchanged a glance and retreated inside the building entrance.

She hadn’t felt it when her mind was hyper-focused, but the moment she relaxed, a wave of exhaustion washed over her.

Right now, the best thing would be to get some proper sleep.

But sleeping was definitely not an option. She had to hurry and use Crystal Cores to restore her Superpower.

Crystal Cores could only restore Superpowers.

But even if her Superpower was restored to its peak, her mind would still be exhausted.

Although Sierra couldn’t see herself, she could see that Jayce’s eyes were bloodshot, and she figured hers were probably the same.

"Sierra, I’ll watch the situation outside. You get some sleep and recover your energy," Jayce said suddenly.

Sierra was taken aback.

’Sleep? Just like that?’

’Is sleeping something you can just do on command?’

"I can’t sleep—"

"Just try! If you can’t fall asleep, then you can say so."

Jayce’s expression was serious, with a hint of an order that brooked no refusal.

Seeing this, Sierra didn’t refuse again. She nodded and agreed, "Alright! I’ll try!"

Sierra really did only intend to try.

But unexpectedly, the moment she leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, she fell asleep without even realizing it.

She didn’t even know how she had managed to fall asleep.

When she woke up, she was startled to realize she had actually fallen asleep.

Without a second thought, Sierra quickly looked to the side but didn’t see Jayce. She only saw Dominic Crawford.

"Where’s Jayce?"

"Outside." Dominic Crawford looked ashamed. "We’re too weak..."

Sierra didn’t wait for Dominic Crawford to finish. She quickly put on her head covering, mask, and goggles, then opened the door and went out.

’This isn’t the time for that.’

Once outside, Sierra saw Jayce fighting the Aberrant Beasts with two other Superpower Users.

Although the two Superpower Users had little presence and limited abilities, at least Jayce wasn’t fighting alone.

With Sierra joining the fray, the situation improved.

Sierra found a moment to look at Jayce. "You go rest for a bit!"

Jayce shook his head. "I’m afraid that’s not possible now! There are clearly more Aberrant Beasts than before, and—I have a bad feeling about this!"

The sandstorm was so intense that they had to shout to be heard.

Just moments ago, Sierra was only focused on getting Jayce to rest and hadn’t paid attention to anything else.

Now, hearing what Jayce said, she took a closer look.

It was true!

Just as Jayce had said!

There really were more Aberrant Beasts than before!

And they were bigger than the ones from before!

And that bad feeling Jayce mentioned—Sierra felt it too.

It made Sierra’s heart sink.

’What on earth is going to happen?’

Sometimes, the unknown is the most terrifying thing of all.

Before Sierra could think any further, she felt the ground tremble and shake.

BOOM!

The sudden sound startled Sierra, and her body swayed.

Looking in the direction of the sound, she saw that a behemoth had appeared in the open space ahead.

It was the size of an elephant!

But it was no elephant!

If she had to describe it, it looked something like a cross between a cat, a dog, and a bird.

This behemoth had two enormous wings on its back.

Clearly, it had flown in!

As Sierra stared at it, it turned its gaze toward her.

The next moment, it opened its massive maw, let out a roar, and with a flap of its wings, flew straight toward them.

Sierra had no time for shock or fear. She immediately used her Superpower to control dozens of Sand Arrows and fired them at the creature.

At almost the same instant, Jayce made the same decision as Sierra.

Dozens of Water Arrows also flew toward the enormous Aberrant Beast.

But the Aberrant Beast’s hide was simply too thick!

The hundreds of arrows combined only managed to stick into its flesh.

They didn’t cause much damage, but they did enrage it.

It flew even faster, charging straight for Sierra and Jayce.

"Sierra, look out!"

Jayce pulled Sierra aside.

They successfully dodged, but the Aberrant Beast crashed into the building entrance.

A building this tall actually shuddered from the impact.

The sturdy entrance door was smashed out of shape.

Inside, Dominic Crawford and the others hadn’t noticed the situation outside yet.

The impact left every one of them completely dumbfounded.

It wasn’t until the glass on the door shattered and sand and dust swept in that Dominic Crawford and the others finally understood what had happened and got a clear look at the enormous Aberrant Beast.

Probably because it had been attacked by Sierra and Jayce, the Aberrant Beast ignored Dominic Crawford’s group. After turning around, it lunged at Sierra and Jayce again.

Dominic Crawford was both shocked and horrified by the scene.

’How can there be an Aberrant Beast that’s so big and can fly?’

’Are there many of them?’

’If there are... does humanity even have a chance of survival?’

"Don’t just stand there!" Dominic Crawford quickly composed himself. "If something happens to those two, none of us will make it out alive! Hurry! Let’s go!"

This wasn’t about being afraid of Kevin Everett; it was about the fact that the Aberrant Beast wasn’t just targeting Jayce and Sierra.

Jayce and Sierra were the most powerful Superpower Users. If the two of them died, Dominic Crawford and the others would have even less of a chance of survival.
