Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids
Chapter 614: I’ll Get Shy
A few days later, Su Wenyan embarked on the third stop of site selection.
Even before her arrival, several cities at the prefecture level had already heard rumors that Candy Technology was planning something big, choosing a location within a 200 km radius around Huo County for the construction of an international large airport for aerospace rocket launches.
By the time Su Wenyan heard this news again, it had morphed into plans for investing in the construction of an international large airport.
An international large airport, wherever it’s built, don’t you think the local economy will skyrocket?
Furthermore, with an international airport near Candy Technology, all international partners coming to discuss cooperation would undoubtedly choose the closest airport to land at!
After hearing the news from the county leaders, Su Wenyan found it both amusing and exasperating.
"Leaders, it’s just a regular airport." Su Wenyan didn’t directly say that the airport might not be open to the public, as she wasn’t sure about the boss’s intentions, so it was better to say nothing at all.
For the days that followed, Su Wenyan almost went to a new place every day. For every location she surveyed, she smiled and nodded, leaving people clueless about which site had been chosen.
On the same day, Sunday afternoon, Su Wenyan and Zhou Yaling returned simultaneously.
"Eh, looks like Manager Su’s car."
On the national highway, Xiaofeixia driving at a steady 80 km/h exclaimed in surprise.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yaling, who was resting with her eyes closed in the front passenger seat and was actually a bit car sick, opened her eyes to look ahead.
Indeed, it was the company’s car, with the company logo—a big candy, on the rear of the car. However, Zhou Yaling wasn’t particularly sensitive to license plate numbers; she had never remembered one.
Beep beep beep~
Xiaofeixia honked the horn three times and flashed the high beams at the car in front twice.
Having had a tiring week of travel, Su Wenyan was just about to unleash a string of colorful language. She wasn’t on the overtaking lane, nor was she driving at a snail’s pace, so what was the rush?
Glancing through the rearview mirror and spotting that familiar license plate number, Su Wenyan choked back the words of praise she was about to say, feeling quite uncomfortable.
She switched to the third lane, allowing the second lane to clear, and slightly reduced speed until the two cars were parallel.
It was then that Su Wenyan was surprised to find Zhou Yaling in the car, and the boss didn’t seem to be there.
After a brief greeting, the two cars returned to a front-and-back formation. After all, driving side by side is a very dangerous act.
"I’m back."
Half an hour later, Zhou Yaling returned to the villa dragging her suitcase, only to find the house quiet.
If it hadn’t been for Little Grey lying belly up and snoring away in the doghouse, Zhou Yaling would have thought her brother and Candy had gone out.
"Welcome home."
"Who is it!" Zhou Yaling, who was walking toward the corner, was startled by the sudden voice.
White innocently blinked.
"Whew~"
"You scared me to death."
Who would’ve thought White would be standing at a corner out of sight?
Patting her chest and looking up the stairs, Zhou Yaling saw Candy standing on the third-floor hallway, holding the railing and watching her.
Oh dear, caught off guard, looking rather unkempt from not combing her hair all day, Candy quickly shouted, "Sister~ you’re back~"
"I am back, where’s your brother?"
"I don’t know." Candy shook her head.
"He should be in the study."
Dragging her suitcase and taking the elevator to the third floor, Zhou Yaling saw Candy standing outside the elevator wearing her size 37 large slippers.
Pinching Candy’s soft cheek, Zhou Yaling asked with a chuckle, "Where are your slippers? Why are you wearing mine?"
"Hehe, don’t you find adult slippers more comfortable to wear?" Zhou Yaling pouted and said, "I honestly don’t know, when your brother and I were small, we didn’t live as comfortably as you. We hardly had anything."
Every generation has its own blessings. Compared to their parents, Zhou Yaling knew they were much luckier. At least they never went hungry and occasionally had a few cents of pocket money after entering elementary school.
Zhou Yaling vaguely remembered the joy of holding a dime and running to the small store, even a spicy strip was an enjoyment.
Candy followed Zhou Yaling into the room all the way. Zhou Yaling initially thought Candy was hoping for gifts she brought back, but when she saw the safe placed on her bedside table, she was dumbfounded.
She thought Candy was just joking last time, but surprisingly, she really placed the safe in her room.
Candy was standing at the door, carefully observing her sister’s facial expression. If things went south, she would run immediately.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to put it in her room, but every time she did, she couldn’t resist opening the safe to have a peek.
"Why don’t you put it in your brother’s room?"
Candy chuckled awkwardly, "Walking by the river often, you can’t avoid getting your shoes wet. Putting it with brother isn’t safe."
Was that an appropriate use of the phrase ’walking by the river often, you can’t avoid getting your shoes wet’? Yaling’s mouth twitched in resignation.
"So you think it’s safe to put it with me, is that it?"
"Well...not really." Candy hesitated and said, "Mainly because I haven’t decided where to put it, and you came back unexpectedly today."
Yaling: "..."
With her arms crossed, Yaling smiled and asked, "So now? Where do you plan to put it?"
With a face full of distress, Candy shook her head and said, "I don’t know, I haven’t decided yet."
Yaling reached out to try lifting the safe, it was terribly heavy. With Candy’s small stature, moving a Bun was doable, but lifting the safe onto the bedside table so neatly was obviously beyond her capability.
Remembering the scare she got from White earlier, Yaling suddenly understood.
"Listen to me, move it to brother’s study, there’s no safer place in the house than there."
Candy looked at her sister full of doubt; putting it in the study seemed like sending the sheep into the tiger’s mouth.
"Really, I’m not lying."
"Anyway, when you open the safe, just do it secretly."
"Okay then, I guess."
Pouting, Candy raised her right hand.
"Calling White, calling White, over."
"Don’t call, I’ll send White up." It wasn’t White speaking, it was Zero. His tone was filled with helplessness and melancholy.
In less than half a minute, the swift White ran over.
Under Yaling’s watchful eyes, Candy took several steps back and pointed at the safe on the bedside table, saying, "White, pick up the safe."
Yaling was surprised to see Candy, not because she was directing White to work, but rather because of Candy’s earlier backward steps.
Noticing her sister’s gaze, Candy straightened her posture and grinned.
"Sister, don’t look at me like that, I’ll get shy."
