The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl
Chapter 1974: Becoming In-Laws
Gan Rui’s behavior was noted by Ms. Tao, and she was quite satisfied.
Although it was their first meeting, the young man understood etiquette, knew when to advance or retreat, had an outgoing personality, was well-read, and was already a Scholar at such a young age. Most importantly, he really liked Ah Han.
Ms. Tao, as a mother-in-law looking at her son-in-law, grew fonder the more she observed him.
Especially since, during previous marriage proposals, she’d seen several other young sirs; in comparison, Gan Rui stood out distinctly.
Ms. Liao calmly sipped her tea. Seeing Ms. Tao’s expression, she knew the marriage was almost certainly settled! Watching her younger brother with his heart and eyes full of Meng Han, she found it hard to watch and simply said, "Ah Rui, didn’t you say there’s a teahouse nearby with pretty good pastries? Why don’t you take Nini to buy some?"
Then she turned to Meng Han and said, "Miss Meng, Nini likes you. Would you mind accompanying her?"
Nini eagerly chimed in, "I want Sister Ah Han to come with me."
Who present couldn’t see through this obvious excuse to have them together?
Meng Han couldn’t help but look at Ms. Tao. The latter nodded with a smile, "Go ahead, hold Nini’s hand tight, and don’t let go."
"Alright." Meng Han picked up Nini, and Gan Rui immediately wanted to take over, but Nini wrapped her arms around Meng Han’s neck, turning her back to him, "I want Sister Ah Han to hold me."
Gan Rui whispered, "You can’t call her sister; you should call her... Aunt."
Meng Han blushed deeply from his teasing, shot him a glare, and hastily went out carrying the child, with Gan Rui quickly following.
A few people in the private room cleared their throats, unable to suppress their laughter.
Ms. Liao shifted the conversation, saying, "I really like Ah Han. She’s so young yet so patient. Our Nini is not easy to handle, yet she’s been playing with her for so long. She and Ah Rui make such a perfect match, a union made in heaven. Why don’t our families pick a time to finalize this engagement?"
Ms. Tao had just had a great chat with Ms. Liao and nodded, "It’s rare to find someone I get along with so well. If our families become in-laws, I’m sure we’ll get along splendidly."
"Then it’s settled. We’ll invite the matchmaker over another day to discuss in detail."
"Sounds great."
"It’s rare for the Aunt from the Meng family to come to the prefecture. When should we visit the Gan family? After Ah Han marries into the Gan family, Aunt can see where she’ll be living. Later, you can meet with my father-in-law, Brother Gan Rui, and my second sister together."
This was also to reassure Ms. Tao, ensuring that before the engagement, she could learn more about the Gan family and its members.
Ms. Tao had the same thoughts, and the two began to finalize arrangements to meet.
However, what Ms. Liao didn’t expect was that Gan Rui’s second sister, Gan Yujing, whom she mentioned, was not far from them in another private room.
Shortly after Gan Rui and Meng Han left, she came out and, seeing the old woman returning with news, took her aside for a conversation.
"How is it? Did you find out anything?"
The old woman nodded, "The Eldest Young Mistress invited the family today to discuss a marriage proposal for the Fourth Young Master."
Gan Yujing was taken aback, "A marriage proposal? The people who went into the private room with Sister-in-law are a match for my fourth brother?"
"Yes, miss." The old woman sighed, "Such a major event as a marriage proposal for the Fourth Young Master, and they didn’t even tell you, miss? This is really too much."
