Maya smiled and let sleep claim her.

The first week was brutal.

Maya’s fever spiked so high that Eve was convinced she was dying. She thrashed in bed, crying out in pain as her bones began to reshape, as her muscles tore and rebuilt themselves stronger.

Eve barely left her side. She sat in the chair beside Maya’s bed, holding her hand through the worst of it, whispering reassurances when Maya woke screaming from nightmares.

"I’ve got you," Eve said over and over.

Her mates took turns bringing food and fresh water, checking Maya’s vitals, doing everything they could to ease the transformation. Brynn and Catherine visited daily,

"It gets better," Brynn promised during one particularly bad night when Maya was sobbing from pain. "I know it doesn’t feel like it now, but it does. Your body is fighting the change, but eventually it’ll accept it. And when it does, you’ll be stronger than you ever imagined."

"Hurts," Maya gasped. "Everything hurts."

"I know. But you’re doing so well. You’re one of the strongest people I know, Maya. You’re going to get through this."

By the second week, Maya’s fever finally broke. She woke one morning looking more herself, the pain in her eyes replaced by wonder.

"I can hear your heartbeat," Maya said to Eve. "From across the room. I can hear it."

Eve laughed through tears of relief. "Welcome to the supernatural world. Where privacy is a myth and everyone knows way too much about everyone else."

"It’s amazing," Maya breathed. "And terrifying. And I can smell... god, I can smell that Damon made bacon three hours ago. It’s still lingering in the air."

"Enhanced senses," Eve confirmed. "You’ll learn to control them. To filter out what you don’t need."

Maya sat up carefully, testing her body. "I feel different. Stronger. Like I could run a marathon and not get tired."

"You probably could. Enhanced stamina is part of the package."

"This is insane." Maya looked at her hands like they belonged to a stranger. "I’m actually a werewolf. An actual supernatural being."

"You are. How does it feel?"

Maya considered the question. "Like coming home. Like I finally fit in my own skin." She met Eve’s eyes. "Thank you. For this. For everything."

Eve pulled her into a careful hug. "You’re my sister. In every way that matters. I’d do anything for you."

They held each other for a long moment, and Eve felt something settle in her chest. Her best friend was safe. Was pack. Was going to live for centuries instead of a normal human lifespan.

They had time now. All the time in the world.

By the third week, Maya was strong enough to leave her room for short periods.

The pack welcomed her enthusiastically, teaching her pack protocols, showing her training techniques, helping her understand the hierarchy and dynamics.

"You’re omega rank for now," Brynn explained during a training session. "Lowest in the hierarchy because you’re brand new. But that’ll change as you prove yourself. As you learn control and demonstrate your capabilities."

"How do I move up in rank?" Maya asked.

"Training. Time. Showing leadership qualities. Or you can challenge someone directly if you think you’re stronger." Brynn grinned. "Though I don’t recommend that until you’ve actually shifted at least once."

"When will that happen?"

"Usually around the three-month mark. Your wolf is still forming. Still integrating with your human consciousness. When she’s ready, she’ll emerge."

Maya absorbed that with visible excitement and nerves. "I can’t wait to meet her."

"She’s already part of you," Silas said, joining them. "You’ll feel her more clearly as the transformation completes. Her instincts. Her drives. Her personality."

"Will she be different from me?"

"Yes and no. She’s an extension of you. Your primal self. But she’ll have her own voice, her own desires. You’ll learn to work together. To be one being instead of two separate entities fighting for control."

Maya looked overwhelmed but determined. "Okay. I can do this."

"We know you can," Eve said, appearing with water bottles for all of them. "You’re already doing it."

That night, Eve collapsed into bed with her mates, exhausted from weeks of intensive Maya-care.

"She’s doing well," Damian said, pulling Eve against his chest. "Better than most new wolves do during transformation."

"She’s strong," Eve agreed. "Stubborn. Refuses to give up even when it hurts."

"Like someone else I know," Damon said with amusement, settling on her other side.

Eve laughed. "Fair point."

Silas’s hand found hers, squeezing gently. "You’ve barely slept in three weeks. Barely eaten. You need to take care of yourself too."

"I’m fine...."

"You’re exhausted," Damian interrupted. "And we’re going to fix that."

His hand slid down her body, finding the hem of her sleep shirt and pushing it up. Eve felt heat spike through her exhaustion.

"I’m too tired...."

"We’ll do all the work," Damon promised, already removing her clothes with efficient movements. "You just lie there and let us worship you."

They undressed her completely, and Eve lay naked between them, too tired to protest.

Damian’s mouth found her breast, sucking gently while his hand explored between her legs. Damon kissed her deeply, swallowing her gasp when Damian’s fingers slid inside her.

"Relax," Silas murmured, his hands massaging her shoulders, working out knots she hadn’t known were there. "Let us take care of you."

They worked her slowly, patiently, building pleasure without urgency. When Eve came, it was soft and rolling....less explosive than usual but deeply satisfying.

Damian pulled her into his lap and slid inside with aching gentleness. He moved slowly, thoroughly, making love to her with tender attention.

"You’ve been so strong," Damian murmured against her neck. "Taking care of Maya. Being there for her through every moment. But you don’t have to be strong right now. Just feel this. Feel us."

Eve surrendered to it completely.....let them love her, let them care for her, let herself be vulnerable and cherished.

When she came the second time, it was with tears streaming down her face. Not from pain or sadness, but from overwhelming emotion.

"I love you," she said to all of them. "So much."

"We love you too," Silas said, pressing a kiss to her temple. "Always."

They held her as she drifted off, thoroughly satisfied and absolutely loved.

And Eve’s last conscious thought was that this....this family she’d built, this is the life she’d chosen, and it was worth everything.

Every struggle. Every sacrifice. Every moment of fear.

All of it led to this.

And she wouldn’t change a single thing.
