The Angelic System That Turned My Life Into Hell
Chapter 223: Tribal Chief
From afar, Lily could roughly recognize Sylvia and Mika encountering new foes. But instead of rushing to their aid, she and the people from the academy of Youra had to deal with the enemies in front of them.
Lisa and Asak were carrying injured and unconscious students out of the battlefield and brought them to a nearby camp where they could be treated and rest.
Still, the situation did not seem good.
Whereas most of the students and teachers were showing signs of exhaustion, the number of enemies did not decrease yet. There were still a lot of foot soldiers, who hid their identities, and a good number of people who did not care about hiding their faces, showing their pale skin, pale blue eyes and grey or white hair.
One could tell with a glance that those people were strong.
"Don’t you dare let anyone through anymore!"
After letting Mika, Sylvia, Ophelia and Belian through, the enemies were even more on guard and focused more on Lily and the others.
"Heh, what’s the panic for? Even if they do manage to pass through, do you really think they can survive the defensive line behind us?" one of the enemies remarked relaxed.
But then, the person received a chop on the head.
"Don’t underestimate your opponents, you fool. Especially, that boy there."
Some of them shifted their gaze to Mika who was surrounded by around 15 people.
Suddenly, they heard a few soldiers screaming from afar.
Lily, who was at the frontlines, burned down her enemies with the help of her relic.
Due to the fight against the boss of the sixth floor in the Unnatural Dungeon she lost almost all her fire creatures and because there was little time for her to create more since that fight Lily had to fight with two fire creatures at her side now.
One of them was a human-shaped being, who was capable of using low fire magic, and the other was a creature shaped like a bull.
Then, more screams were heard.
"Sorry that we took so long."
Appearing beside Lily was Lisa, who pierced through her enemies with her lightning-enhanced rapier, and Asak who used his martial arts to fight his way to them.
Noticing that those three were different than the others, some of the more powerful enemies were about to step forward, however, they halted once they sensed another presence marching in front of them.
"T-tribal chief...?"
"Let me handle them."
With his big physique and toned body, the 50-year-old tribal chief, Brol Nohr, appeared before Lily and the other two. His slightly wrinkled face and sharp eyes would usually intimate everyone who would look at him. He tied his long white hair into a ponytail and he wore nothing but pants with a large saber attached to it, showing off his scars on his upper body.
"I am Brol Nohr, the tribal chief. What are your names?" he asked with a stern tone.
"L-Lily Hayth."
"Asak Jun."
"Lisa Vonder."
Not all of them showed it clearly but they were nervous. After all, they were tasked with supporting the students and teachers in the southern part of Youra. They did not expect to face the tribal chief out of all people.
"I see. I will remember them."
Brol took a deep breath before he drew his sword.
"!"
Swinging it down with his monster-like strength, he destroyed the asphalt beneath them.
Fortunately, Lily and the other two managed to dodge just in time.
Asak was about to get back and ambush Brol, however, a woman in her thirties stood in his way.
"I’ve heard a lot about you, Asak Jun. How about fighting me, Jila Faum? I’m pretty confident in my combat skills." she stated confidently.
She had a tall and muscular body. Her long white hair reached her waist and she covered her body lightly as she only wore fur around her chest and short pants, exposing most of her body.
"..."
Asak took a short glance at Lisa and Lily, who were separated from him.
"Fine. But be prepared to get embarrassed." Asak replied as confidently as her while he cracked his knuckles.
Meanwhile, Brol turned his face to Lily and Lisa after looking over to Jila. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Come at me." he stated sternly.
Pressured, the two girls stared each other into the eyes and went into different directions afterward.
Brol constantly shifted his gate between those two as they tried to encircle him.
However, he did not care and with one heavy foot stamp, he summoned icicles, which were pointed diagonally, around him which grew larger and larger. It was a wide-ranged attack which hit the students and teachers as well as even his own people.
"Ugh...!"
Lily tried to escape the attack but was also hit. But fortunately, she was not heavily injured and only suffered some bruises and light bleeding.
Lisa, however, was in the air above Brol with her rapier retracted.
"Heh!" Brol huffed with a wide smirk.
He summoned icicles again but this time, those icicles created a thick-layered wall in preparation against Lisa, who was done with charging up her attack.
More and more lightning was focused on her rapier until she vigorously thrust it in Brol’s direction despite still being high up in the air.
Her thrust turned into a powerful and yet thin thunder strike that seemed akin to a fine-lined beam.
"!"
That attack took Brol by surprise as it easily pierced through his defense and created a hole in his left thigh.
"I’m not done yet...!" Lisa muttered calmly.
As she fell, she charged up another round of that attack. But now, she tried to aim at a more vital spot.
"Tch!"
Brol made the ice disappear in order to have a good look at Lisa’s trajectory.
He took a step back as he wanted to dodge that attack of hers but he stopped his movements when another person entered his reach.
"..."
With a focused gaze, Lily appeared in front of him and was about to thrust her ignited palm into him.
Hurriedly, Brol put up his guard but it was at that moment when he shortly forgot about Lisa.
"Argh...!"
Lisa was slightly off as she pierced through his right shoulder, however, Brol accidentally created an opening, allowing Lily to connect her attack.
A large explosion was caused when her palm touched his chest.
"Stay on guard..." Lisa advised tensely.
"I know." Lily said, nodding her head softly.
Dust was kicked up in the air but the silhouette of Brol still standing was already visible.
Swinging his saber widely, the dust instantly dispersed, showing Brol’s partly burnt and bleeding body.
"This is how it should be..." Brol muttered.
"?"
The two girls tried to listen.
Then, they heard him laughing.
"This is how a fight should be! It would be boring if you weren’t on this level!" he yelled joyfully.
Like a beast, he dashed towards them with his saber retracted.
He swung it so heavily that a strong wind was caused which swept enemies and comrades away.
At the same time, two people watched that scene from afar.
"That’s why I didn’t want to pair up with those barbarians." a young man sighed.
"Just let him be. That tribe chooses their chief purely based on their strength, casting aside the personality and intelligence." a teenage-looking girl responded tiredly.
These two were using their black bat-like wings to fly.
The man wore black leather pants, paired with black boots, and a white buttoned shirt with ruffles at the top. He had wavy shoulder-length black hair and an eye patch on his left eye.
Meanwhile, the girl wore short pants with chains attached to them and high boots. Her black sweater was wide and baggy as if it was a few sizes too big for her. She possessed long black hair which she tied into twin tails with large drill-like curls.
"Instead of worrying about him, you should rather focus on those two, Roroan." the girl stated, steering the man’s attention to Belian and Ophelia.
"Can’t you handle them on your own, Lonotta?"
"Normally, I’d say yes but I have a weird feeling..." Lonotta admitted pensively.
Roroan sighed as he descended.
"Then, who wants to face me? Or do you want to go together against me?" he asked apathetically.
"..."
Belian and Ophelia did not show any reactions at first.
"Let me handle him, Ms. Ross." Belian said calmly.
"Understood. I won’t interfere then."
"Thank you."
Even though he was her student, she put her entire trust in him and his words.
"Are you perhaps trying to impress us by voluntarily facing me on your own? Don’t forget that you’re a human in the end. It takes at least five more of your sort in order to stand on equal grounds with me, you know?"
"..."
As if he was ignoring his words, Belian just stared up at Roroan who was more than a head taller than Belian.
"Are you done talking? Let’s get this over with."
Following those words, Belian’s eyes expressed nothing but utter hostility.
