The Angelic System That Turned My Life Into Hell
Chapter 239: Leviathan
Sylvia froze a part of the water so that they could all get on it.
Everyone was panting. Almost no one had the strength to get up on their feet. And because of the danger they were in, they had no time to complain about trembling from the cold after getting thrown into the cold seawater.
"..."
Sylvia’s gaze turned to Leviathan who was straightening its body.
Leaving them no time to breathe, Leviathan dove into the water and vanished from the surface.
But instead of feeling relieved, the group sensed danger.
"G-get away!" Elsa shouted suddenly.
They crawled on the ice desperately, trying to get as far away as possible, even jumping back into the water.
The large shadow that belonged to Leviathan and was lurking in the water closed in on them.
"!"
When Leviathan was right beneath the shallow layer of ice, its upper body and head shot out of the water, shattering the ice. And at that moment, several of the group were caught in that attack.
"Gah...!" Sylvia groaned quietly as blood was coughed up.
She was one of the people who were thrown high up in the air by Leviathan.
Sylvia was right above its head. And luckily, she grasped herself and fell on its nose where she clung onto by freezing her arm on it.
However, many others died instantly after falling into the water from such a height. Those were the civilians on board. People like the white-class students or Elsa fell from a height where they would most of the time just lose their consciousness.
Rachel, Lisa and Lily were the ones who were rendered unconscious but they were rescued from drowning by their comrades who just suffered from bleeding.
Then, Leviathan focused his attention on those who were still moving in the water.
It opened its mouth again and prepared a water beam once more.
"Hngh!"
With great struggle, Sylvia tried to not fall off when Leviathan moved its head. However, she also had no plans for how she could get off it.
"!"
Dura manipulated the water and created waves to push the group from her in order to evade the large water beam that Leviathan just fired off.
Thus, no one was harmed this time but, in turn, Leviathan noticed the presence of Dura, who was annoying from its point of view.
It stared at Dura as it lowered its head until it almost touched the water, bending its body.
Simultaneously, Sylvia saw the chance to get off and splashed into the water.
However, now she was in its sight with Dura.
These two did nothing because they were paralyzed by fear. Leviathan was so close to them that they could feel its breath through its nose.
Surprising them, Leviathan suddenly lifted its head and looked above it after sensing something from there.
An enormous and rough-shaped block of ice, bigger and wider than Leviathan was quickly formed above it.
"..."
The one, who summoned it, was Elsa who was stretching her arms in the direction of the ice block. She knew it would not die from it but she was desperately trying to distract it from Dura and Sylvia.
The ice block fell on Leviathan.
But unfazed by that sight, Leviathan rose its head and pushed it against the ice block.
The velocity at which the block was falling decreased. In turn, cracks started to appear on the spot where Leviathan was butting its head against.
Not long and the block shattered into giant pieces and splashed into the sea.
It roared loudly, causing the water to tremble even more.
Following that, it did not hesitate anymore and straight up charged at Dura and Sylvia.
"Not good!"
Dura was about to push Sylvia away from her with water but it was too late.
"Grandma!" Elsa yelled until her throat stung.
Both Dura and Sylvia were devoured.
"..."
Elsa stiffened up, staring at Leviathan flabbergasted.
It rose again and was about to face the sky so that it could swallow them down.
However, its mouth took on a weird shape, almost as if something spiky was enlarging in there.
Black blood dripped from its still-closed mouth.
Then, it roared enragedly after it spit out the content inside its mouth.
Engulfed in black blood were shattered pieces of ice pillars, Dura and Sylvia.
They crashed into the sea and floated there motionless.
And while Leviathan was about to attempt to pierce those two with its sharp teeth, Ophelia and Belian stood on one of the ice blocks which were originally parts of the giant ice block Elsa summoned.
Ophelia was completely focused as she grabbed Belian by the collar.
She threw him with all her might at Leviathan.
"..."
As he was thrown at it, Belian summoned his sword and readied his hands.
He slashed Leviathan across its belly before he fell into the water again. He hoped that he could at least leave an injury on it.
"What...?"
But reality betrayed him.
He noticed a faint smoke coming from the spot he cut it, however, the cut itself was tiny and too shallow to be called a real injury.
Even Leviathan was unbothered.
Belian looked over to Ophelia and saw that she already threw another person at it.
That person was Sara.
Her face was ridden with fear and anxiety and yet, she still gripped her relic tightly.
She, too, tried to cut it across its belly which should have been Leviathan’s softest spot but her sword was parried.
Unable to even leave a scratch, she splashed into the sea.
"Haaa!" Ophelia shouted vigorously as she charged at it with a lightning-enhanced body.
However, she was also slammed down when Leviathan swung its head at Ophelia.
"I-is this the end...?" Harik muttered.
He carried Rachel, Lisa and Lily on his back as he watched the others.
Elsa was completely exhausted and could barely keep herself afloat. Dura and Sylvia were unconscious. Sara and Belian could not damage Leviathan and were hopelessly and defenselessly scattered in the water. And Ophelia also could not harm it and was motionless floating on the surface as she breathed raggedly.
"Please... Stop..." Elsa begged weakly.
Leviathan approached Dura and Sylvia again.
And this time, it was the end for them.
It opened its mouth.
"S-stoppp!" Elsa yelled.
It closed its mouth.
Dura and Sylvia were trapped inside the mouth again.
Leviathan lifted its head, showing everyone how it gulped down the two of them.
"No way..." Ophelia muttered on the verge of losing consciousness as she was bleeding from her nose and mouth.
"..."
Agape, Elsa tried to grasp the reality.
"Sylvia..."
Belian was frozen in shock.
"M-Ms. Waret! Nooo!"
Sara was wailing loudly.
However, none of their reactions could change the fact that Dura and Sylvia were completely devoured by Leviathan.
And those, who were still conscious, were the next targets.
"..."
Unable to close his trembling jaw, Harik instinctively looked into the hollow eyes of Leviathan who was facing Harik and the girls on his back.
They were its next prey.
It launched its open mouth to them.
"No!" Ophelia shouted in a shrill tone.
Again, it closed its mouth.
"Not them, too..." Belian muttered in shock.
However, they heard the sound of people splashing water up.
"...?"
Belian turned around and saw Harik and the girls.
"H-how-"
Before he could wonder, how they were able to get to that spot despite being on the other side a few moments ago, his attention was grabbed by the person above them.
"Who is that...?" Elsa wondered with wide eyes.
"That appearance..." Ophelia murmured before she closed her eyes.
There was a girl, who was seemingly the same age as the students, with white feathered wings flying above Harik and the rest.
She had a girl’s average body proportions and wore a simple white buttoned shirt and a black skirt, paired with black boots. But what really made her stick out were her bright halo above her head, her golden hair that was styled into two side buns and her blue sharp and intimidating eyes with white cross-shaped pupils.
"W-who are you...?" Harik asked.
"..."
But she did not answer.
Instead, she vanished from the spot and appeared near Ophelia.
She grabbed her wrist before she disappeared and appeared above Harik again.
Letting go of Ophelia, Ophelia’s unconscious body ruthlessly fell on Harik.
In that manner, the girl collected Elsa, Sara and Belian and gathered them at the same spot.
Leviathan was even more furious than before since the arrival of the mysterious girl and let out another ferocious roar.
It instantly fired off a water beam which was even greater than those before.
"..."
The girl just narrowed her eyes and held her hand in front of her, whereas the others ducked their heads out of reflex.
A thin rectangular-shaped mirror out of light appeared which was the size of the water beam.
The beam was then absorbed by the mirror.
The mirror disappeared and another one appeared right above Leviathan.
"!"
Everyone widened their eyes in amazement and shock when the previous water beam was shot from the mirror as if it was redirected at Leviathan.
Leviathan let out a groan as it was pushed by the beam into the water.
"..."
Indifferently, the girl turned to them for the first time.
"Don’t misunderstand me. I’m just here because of a favor."
