The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 120: Apparition
"I’m not going to behead you my Lord," Alexander said with a playful smirk that made Richard think he was just playing games with him. Could Alexander really do that...let him go scot free? He was like a king now and he could do anything so why not? Maybe it was the high time Richard confessed his sins.
"I’m sorry Alex," he began in a shaky voice, slowly lifting his face to see a curious Alexander staring back at him. Curious? Oh hell! He had fallen into his trap and there was no going back. He himself wanted this as well, to be nothing but honest with Alexander. Whether he got executed or not, that he didn’t care.
"When your father got sick, your mother became so sad that she couldn’t even eat. I had to personally convince her to take her meals but what transpired that day changed my...our lives forever. I don’t know what got into my mind but I just couldn’t resist her alluring body. And since she was the one that advanced me..." he sighed reminiscing on the thought. Silence reigned from the end of Alexander making Lord Richard swallow in fear. Was this it, his end? Why did it turn cold all of a sudden?
He searched for Alexander’s face and hell wait. What exactly had he done. The cold in the room intensified with each passing second and Lord Richard could tell the source with just one glance. But how...when had Alexander grown so powerful? He had really missed a lot all thanks to the pregnancy news. But this was not the time to think about that. He had to stop Alexander or else he would turn into a sculpture of ice.
Alexander had promised himself to retain his cool when Lord Richard spat out the truth but it was just but a wishful thinking. Coupled with the thoughts about his mother’s secrets and now a blubbering Lord Richard, the anger that he was so much trying to control burst out in what could be termed as waves. Each word coming from Richard’s mouth only acted to fuel the anger more. He didn’t know how but the area was already freezing. Even the plants around the garden could feel his wrath as the leaves curled and so was Lord Richard. His teeth were now rattling and his legs knocking on each other like a dance move.
Surprisingly, every time Alexander used his powers even in his presence, he wasn’t affected. He just felt a toll on his body especially with the freezing technique. He didn’t know how but every time he became angry, even before he had transfigured, the area around him always turned cold. But this time, it was uncontrollable!
"A-l-e-x?" A frail, not frail but almost freezing, Lord Richard called. The water in the tub had turned into ice and the walls of the bathroom looked wet. The unfathomable wind rustled inside the room and if this continued, Alexander would create a tornado in the bathroom. That meant Alexander plus Lord Richard would both die, but for Alex, it would be another case.
"Please...stop ...it..Alex. I’m dying," Lord Richard cried out. But was he even listening. Alexander eyes looked distant as if he was in a world of his own. He was staring at the direction of the garden as if spellbound. The swing! Hell with it! Lord Richard cursed. The cold was nowhere close to coming to a stop and worse, a wind, a tornado to be precise, was already forming in the room. He thought of screaming but his throat was too dry to even scream. Ice had started coating around his feet rendering him immobile. What the hell was happening to Alexander. And wait...! Where was he going? Was he going to leave him here to die? 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Alex.. Alex.. Alex?" He tried calling him but still no reply. Alexander was heading towards the direction of the garden, spellbound like one who had seen an apparition. His gaze was fixated on the white swing.
Alexander had just planned on punishing Lord Richard when he saw the unexpected. A woman clad in all white was seated on the white swing. For a moment he thought it was Isadora. Curiosity got the better of him but the calling was what drove his legs forward unknowingly.
"Come to me, Alexander," she called. That voice! He was certain it wasn’t Isadora’s but why did he feel this way? It’s like...hell no! Why could he even think about that? He had already gotten the answer to that question, hadn’t he? But still, there was this doubting feel in his heart and he knew only this woman could have the truthful answer to his question. And who was she?
He was already pushing the door to the garden open now momentarily forgetting about a freezing Lord Richard. And even though Lord Richard was calling out his name, Alexander had honestly not heard. It was like he was spellbound...or bewitched by this woman.
She was swinging, her back facing Alexander while her silvery hair danced in rhythm with the wind. Alexander could see a smile etched on the corner of her lips and for some odd reason, his heart was racing erratically. The swing suddenly came to a halt making Alexander swallow the lump in his throat. Was he scared? No, he was just nervous. Nervous?
"You came?" Came the most alluring voice he had ever heard in his entire life. Those words alone melted his heart making him feel like rushing to the woman and hug her. But he had to be cautious. He didn’t know her in the first place. Maybe he should ask her who she was.
"Yes," he replied surprising himself. Wasn’t he supposed to ask her who she was? Or maybe he was nuts! "You called me?" He added. Damn it! Why was his mind and mouth not coordinating? Did he even choose to say that...or was it her doing?
"Yes, I called you," she replied before turning around to face Alexander and hell...!
