Chapter 143: Womanizer

Lord Newton and Kael sat across each other as they waited for supper to be served. Newton held his hands tightly before he threw a furtive glance at Kael. This guy was a shape shifter as well! Newton thought he was the only one existing. Why then did Griffin give him the job if he knew of another person? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"What?" Kael asked when he noticed Newton looking at him.

"Actually... I just wanted to ask why Griffin chose me over you?" He asked. Kael smiled at him before he said,

"I’m not talented in acting, Your Majesty." If that meant to anger Lord Newton then Kael was in for a big surprise. Annoying people was the art he perfected in and he just found a rival.

"I see," was all he managed to say before a maid walked over on the table carrying a tray. She placed it on the table before she served stakes on either of their plates, a jug of wine accompanying them by their side. Griffin liked wine so the maid made sure it was present. "Enjoy your meal, Your Majesty and..." she said turning to face Kael.

"Kael," he smiled at her sheepishly making her blush.

"And sir Kael," she blushed harder, her gaze looking everywhere else but his face. He had the looks that would make any woman drool over him, and coupled with his long hair that reached his shoulders, every woman would die for a touch.

"You may leave," Newton dismissed her, not enjoying the little exchange between the two. He was certain this guy was a womanizer. The way he flirted with that maid answered it all.

"She’s a hot one. The type I like," Kael said, his gaze settled on the back of the exiting maid. He licked his lips lustfully making Newton roll his eyes all the way inside his sockets.

"So, where were we?" Kael asked once the ’hot’ maid disappeared out of his sight.

"That is not going to happen under my watch," Newton said, impersonating Griffin himself. But Griffin would have said the exact opposite, right? He questioned his sanity. Griffin liked spending time with women, especially his maids, but he never loved them. He did it for pleasure only.

"Come on your Majesty. It’ll be just a night’s stand," Kael pleaded.

"No. And my decision is final. If you want women, go and sleep with the prostitutes in the capital," Newton suggested without knowing he had just given Kael a great idea.

"Great idea! I have a few coins with me," he said, already grabbing his jacket ready to leave. "See you later... Your Majesty." He added the last part, reminding himself that he was actually speaking to a ’king’.

"Hey? What about the food?" Newton asked the already exiting royal knight.

"I’ll eat later..." Kael replied as he left, walking down the hallway as fast as he could. He was itching to have a woman pinned beneath him right now. That maid had just invoked his demon and it could stop at nothing until it got satisfied. Taking a corner around the stairs, he almost ran into another person who was coming from the other direction, probably headed towards the garden. Kael almost cursed but the moment he lifted his eyes to look at the person, the world seemed to have momentarily stopped for him.

Spellbound was an understatement of how he looked right now. He stared at her eyes, her blinking long eye lashes waking his carnal desires. His gaze travelled further to her pouted lips making the demon in him scream in excitement. It was like a dream come true for him! Never in his entire life did he imagine fairies existed.

"I’m sorry... I was not looking where I was going," she said, preventing his lustful gaze travel her length further. But this only acted to drive Kael all shades of crazy. His eyes stared at her moving lips, her voice ringing like a sweet melody to his ears. His demon screamed at him to claim her, pin her and do all wicked things to her. He didn’t even hear what she had said.

"Actually, I was looking for His Majesty. Do you happen to have seen him in the garden?" She asked, her long statement breaking Kael from his reverie. Not that he heard what she had said but he could now see her, like a human. He clenched his fists trying to calm his demon. Damn it! This was why he couldn’t help it but devour women. Unfortunately, he couldn’t go around pinning every woman he met. But this woman... What did she do to him?

"Is he_in the garden?" She asked again noticing the absentminded look on his face. Kael looked into her eyes surprised by what she had asked. Who was in the garden? Uh, right! It was Newton. So she meant the king?

"Yes, His Majesty is in the garden," he hurriedly answered.

"Thank God. I have been looking for him in the whole palace. Thank you so much. If you don’t mind, I’ll take my leave," she said, waiting a bit for Kael to say something but he didn’t. She lifted the hem of her dress and walked up the stairs after curtsying to Kael.

Kael watched, mouth wide open as she ascended the flight of stairs until she got out of view. "Woa! Such a beautiful lady! The palace has a bunch of them. I’m not leaving any time," he smiled to himself.

Newton was enjoying his stake when a feminine voice called across the garden.

"Your Majesty? You were here all along! I was looking for you." He tilted his head to the other side and found a stunning lady walking towards where he was. So this was her, the lady Griffin was avoiding? She was beautiful anyways. Only a blind man couldn’t see that.

"Glad I found you," she said. "May I?" She asked gesturing at the seat where Kael had sat earlier on. Newton simply nodded at her, his probing gaze never leaving her eyes. She felt embarrassed and chose to look down before an awkward silence grew between them.
