Chapter 146: Murderer

"What should we do Your Majesty? Some of the best riders went after him." The Knight reported.

Victoria drew in a sharp breath tired of the whole thing. She had so much on her plate already and Alexander was just adding more to it. Was this his way of grieving Richard? Fear crept into her forlorn heart when she imagined the worst. What if Alexander wanted to kill himself? Oh Lord no! She couldn’t let that happen.

"Call all the palace units and establish a quick search party. Hire professional trackers if possible!" She almost yelled. "I want him back alive!"

The knight nodded, instantly leaving on his liege’s command. They had to bring the king back at all means.

Alexander hair blew in unison with the wind as he rode faster across the woods, a not so happy look on his face. He narrowed his gaze holding the reins tightly. He was reaking of imminent danger. The sound of other horses caught his attention making him to look back. "Shit!" He cursed. They had followed him! He had forgot to make it clear that no one was to follow him. These knights were just good at making him angry. He pulled the reins of the horse, instantly making midnight halt, before he alighted, clapping his back lightly. His gaze narrowed at the incoming knights who slowed down upon noticing Alexander had stopped.

They drew closer to the clearing before they alighted their horses as well. Alexander saw that they were four in number, probably the best horsemen the kingdom had. They had been able to catch up with him that fast!

"Apologies Your Majesty but we had to follow you as required of our oath," a knight dressed in all black, apart from a yellow cloak that set him apart from the others said. Judging from how he was dressed, Alexander could tell he was a captain.

"I guess I forgot to put this clear... captain. But now that I have the chance to, I’ll say it, " Alexander smiled, that evil smile of his that the knights so much feared. And adopting a serious expression now," no one is allowed to follow me! And that is an order!" He added the last part, his cold gaze scanning everyone in vicinity.

"But, Your Majesty. You know that we’ll be held accountable if something bad happens to you, " the captain replied, trying to convince the cold Alexander. But the look he got!

"If you care for your lives, I advice you step back!" Alexander warned. He was in the mood to kill someone and these knights were adding gasoline to the already blazing inferno. He wouldn’t hesitate to slit their throats if they insisted on following him. Sparing them the last glance, he climbed midnight and rode away without glancing back. He knew they wouldn’t dare follow him, unless they didn’t care for their lives.

"What now?" The other knights asked the captain. "Her Majesty will kill us if she knows we let him go!" One of the knights voiced.

"You go after him and you’ll not last another day to tell the tale. You don’t know him!" The captain shook his head. Maybe this Knight was new in the squadron. Those who knew Alexander wouldn’t dare defy his orders.

Alexander continued deep into the woods until he was certain no one was following him. Tying midnight to a tree by a large clearing, he dusted his hands already sweaty hands before holding the hilt of his hands tightly. He had to spill some blood! Only then would his heart be content.

"I know you can hear me! Show yourself you murderer!" He called, his voice echoing through the silent forest. He looked around the area walking in circles when he heard the sound of leaves clutching. He could tell someone was behind him, so close that he could sense their presence. His grip on his sword tightened before he drew it as fast as he could, instantly placing it on someone’s neck. He turned around and was not surprised to see who was there.

"You called me?" Lylla smiled despite the fact that a blade was resting on her neck.

"And I’m glad you came," Alexander said, his cold gaze settling on her face. God knew how much self restraint it took him to instantly drive the blade through her neck. "I suppose you know why I am here."

"Yes," she simply replied making Alexander frown. She knew he wanted to kill her and yet she showed up? This was insanity!

"And yet you have the guts to show up?" Alexander asked. She must be foolish! He pressed the blade harder on her skin instantly drawing a line of blood. But the fact that she did not move or flinch angered Alex to the core. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"I came because I had something to tell you as well. You can kill me later if you want."

Sooner was the word, Alexander corrected in his mind. All this time, he had trusted her. And what was the best way to kill someone he loved? Perfect timing! She attacked his mind when he had just unleashed his powers, not giving him the time to control it. What was far worse than trying to manipulate someone’s mind? Was she even human? Could she die in the first place?

He stared at her neck and saw blood on the tip of his sword. Did that mean she was human? This was going to be more easier than he had thought.

"I want to hear none of it," Alexander said, adopting a colder tone. "You made me kill him intentionally, didn’t you?"

"No, I didn’t," she said earning a frown from Alex. Was she trying to say that she was innocent? And she thought he would buy that as an excuse?

"How dare you? You entered in my mind and made me leave him while my power was acting on him. You killed him!" Alexander almost yelled. "And now you’ll die!"

"You are the one that made me enter your mind Alex. You woke me from my deep slumber by using your powers!" She said. Alexander looked at her confused. What did that mean? Deep slumber, his powers, waking her up! He was totally confused.
