Chapter 946: Chapter 923: Capturing Doctor X

Doctor X was a shriveled old man, sporting an unruly Einstein-style haircut, though his hair had gone completely white, and his mustache was white as well.

"Bill, long time no see, you’re still so young and handsome, while I have grown old." Doctor X sat cross-legged on the floor, greeting warmly.

Doctor X looked at Adrian Desmond with eyes like an elder appreciating a junior, far removed from any sense of enmity.

Adrian crouched down, pointing a gun at him, his eyes cold. "Why didn’t you escape?"

"Haha, this laboratory contains my years of research. How could I bear to abandon it?"

If someone else were to say such words, Adrian might have doubts, but coming from Doctor X, Adrian had no doubts at all, as Doctor X was indeed a mad scientist.

"That thing, ’World’s End,’ on my woman’s ankle – did you design it?"

"Yes." Doctor X’s eyes lit up, and he began to passionately describe the deadly anklet’s features, "...Once I detonate it, it can blow your woman to bits, leaving nothing behind."

The gun pressed against Doctor X’s temple as Adrian spoke, "Do you have a way to remove that thing from my woman’s ankle?"

"Of course I do! But why should I help you?"

"Because your life is in my hands!"

Doctor X smiled, "That reason is indeed compelling. Alright, I’ll remove ’World’s End’ from your woman’s ankle, you let me go, how about that?"

"I will let you go only after Night Owl is dead!"

Doctor X smiled deeply at Adrian, understanding the significance.

Soon, news came from Jule’s side.

Through the intercom, Jule said, "Sixth Master, Night Owl boarded the plane, and the plane exploded mid-air."

Adrian looked at Doctor X, asking, "Are you sure Night Owl is dead?"

"I’m sure!"

Doctor X also heard the news, lowered his head, remaining silent, appearing to be in sorrow.

"Night Owl is dead!" Adrian told Doctor X.

"That is between you and Night Owl, it’s not my concern! I’m just a scientist." Doctor X attempted to distance himself.

Adrian glanced at the unconscious man on the bed, asking, "Where’s Shade Jervois’ heart?"

"It was transplanted into Night Owl."

Adrian knew Night Owl’s heart had issues, but he hadn’t expected Night Owl to be so cruel, resorting to extracting his own brother’s heart.

"With so many deaths on Death Island each year, surely there was a suitable heart for Night Owl, why insist on Shade Jervois’ heart?" Adrian looked at Shade, feeling sympathy for him.

Since birth, Shade hadn’t been favored by his father. Fearful that Shade might threaten his brother’s status, his father fed him drugs to impair his intelligence, leaving his mental age permanently at five or six years old.

Now, his only brother had taken his heart.

Adrian thought, fortunately Shade was mentally deficient, otherwise he would surely be driven insane.

While Adrian pondered, the man on the bed slowly opened his eyes, looked at Adrian expressionlessly, and said,

"Bill, save me."

After saying this, Shade fell unconscious again.

"Night Owl took Shade’s heart, so who did you originally plan to transplant into Shade?"

"An assassin’s heart," Doctor X said.

Adrian grew more confused as he listened, "Since there was a suitable heart, why extract Shade’s heart? Why not just transplant that assassin’s heart?"

"Because heart transplants are risky, they’re identical twins, so the risk is much smaller for transplanting between them. Therefore, Night Owl wanted Shade’s heart, and Shade was to receive another assassin’s heart." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Adrian sneered, "Night Owl really doesn’t mind trouble!"

"Night Owl didn’t want to die on the operating table."

Adrian gazed at the man lying in the bed, feeling pity, and commanded, "You transplant the heart into him."

"Shade’s heart is inside Night Owl."

"Transplant that assassin’s heart into him."

"Okay, but there’s a risk, he might die on the operating table," Doctor X warned Adrian.

"Isn’t he as good as dead right now?"

Without a heart, if these instruments were removed, Shade would undoubtedly die. Even if kept hooked up to the machines, it’s unlikely he’d live much longer, might as well take a gamble.

Doctor X climbed up from the floor, asking, "You just said that as long as Night Owl is dead, you’d let me go.

I just heard that Night Owl is dead, so if I remove ’World’s End’ from your woman’s ankle, will you let me go?"
