His face instantly hardened.

"Arianna." Her body instantly froze at that familiar voice.

She slowly turned to the voice, only to find Logan staring at her with wide eyes.

He sized her up, as if unable to believe she was actually there.

Arianna recognized that look. It was the same look he’d given her when she’d crashed his wedding.

He must have thought that his little assassin must have succeeded with his task. But then again, he didn’t hear anything from him for days, so why would he think that the man had succeeded?

Logan immediately composed himself when he saw that he was staring too much.

"What are you doing here?" Logan questioned.

"Why? You don’t want to see me here?" She questioned back, a smile on her lips.

Logan’s face moved to the man behind her, staring him down with a heavy scowl. Then his eyes widened in recognition.

Daemon Langford.

’What could she be doing with such a man?’ He wondered.

He glanced back at her then at Daemon, confusion marring his face.

First, she’d appeared at his wedding after months of making them think that she was dead. He’d sent someone to kill her, only for her to appear at his in-law’s anniversary party looking unscathed. Not only that, she had one of the most powerful men standing so close to her, as if they’d arrived together.

The Griffins weren’t close to Arianna anymore, so for sure, they wouldn’t send her an invite.

That could only mean she’d come in with someone. And that someone was Daemon Langford.

Logan felt something drop in his stomach.

"I know for sure that you’re not invited to this party," he started, his face hardening. "So it’s best you leave before I call security."

"And why would you call security on my wife, Logan?" Daemon’s voice rang with a warning.

Logan’s head instantly snapped to him, his face turning pale.

"Your wife?" He asked as if his ears were playing tricks on him.

"My wife," Daemon repeated, wrapping his arms around Arianna’s waist, pulling her closer.

Logan blinked at them, hoping either of them was joking. But they were not in the kind of relationship where either one would joke with the other person.

Logan still couldn’t believe his ears. Arianna, the woman he’d cheated on, killed and taken everything from, was now married to Daemon Langford?

’Is this a joke?’ He wondered.

"Honey, I think we should go give our wishes to the Griffin’s couples now. Logan seems to be too stunned to speak," said Arianna.

"Of course, my love," Daemon whispered in her ear as they both spun their heads to the opposite direction, completely ignoring Logan’s existence and walking to where the Griffin’s couples were accepting gifts and wishes from their guests.

Logan glared at their backs, his face perplexed.

He wanted to believe that she was joking around, trying to get him jealous, hoping to get a reaction from him. That was the only way to explain Daemon’s words.

He’d only divorced her two months ago, and she suddenly reappeared with the man he was thriving hard to overthrow in the business world. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Oblivious to the thoughts spiraling in Logan’s mind, Arianna made her way to the Griffin couple and when they saw her, their faces instantly changed.

No doubt, they knew about their daughter’s betrayal, but they weren’t expecting Arianna to show up.

"Mr. and Mrs. Griffin," she called, a smile on her lips. "Happy anniversary." She pulled out a box wrapped in fancy paper and handed it to the woman who stiffly took it from her hands.

"T-thank you," she stuttered. "It’s been quite a while since we last saw you. How have you been?"

Arianna was baffled for a second. She wasn’t expecting the woman to strike up a conversation with her.

"You didn’t even say anything to us at the wedding," Mr. Griffin added with a subtle smirk on his lips. "Or were you too embarrassed to even face us?"

Arianna sighed.

She was close to thinking that they had no idea what Vivian and Logan had done to her. But she was wrong, again.

She’d been fooled by everyone around her, stepped on like a mat without even realizing it.

"I don’t blame you at all," Mr. Griffin continued, his smirk widening. Looking at him made her feel like she was staring at Vivian since they both shared an uncanny face. "You weren’t able to keep your husband and he got snatched away from you. I couldn’t imagine how you felt."

His words might sound as if he was looking out for her, but the mockery was too buttery for her to simply ignore.

He spoke as if she’d willingly chosen Logan to cheat on her with his very own daughter.

Mr. Griffin patiently waited for Arianna to thrash or at least cry.

But none of that happened.

She stared at him, a small smile dancing at the corners of her lips.

"You’re actually right, uncle," she said, her tone calm and collected. "I couldn’t keep Logan, that’s why Vivian spread her legs for him and he so easily bent to his knees for her. I completely understand. But then again, you and I both know that the true nature of a person is hard to hide, especially for a very long time. Eventually, their true character will come to light. So when another woman spreads her legs for Logan and he cheats on Vivian, I hope you tell her it’s her fault because she couldn’t keep her husband on a leash."

Mr. Griffin’s smile instantly faltered into a frown, glaring daggers at her.

Daemon revealed a smirk, holding a proud look on his face.

Arianna on the other hand smiled in satisfaction when she saw she’d managed to wipe the smile off Mr. Griffin’s face.

He looked like he’d just been fed a lemon with his lips sealed together since he couldn’t even say a word.

Then she pulled out another gift box from her handbag and handed it to him.

"Happy anniversary, uncle."
