Episode 31 - Auction [1]

Creak!

The door let out a faint creak that only I could hear.

Two figures entered.

One of them appeared to be a man, and the other a woman.

And the moment I heard their voices, I cursed the entire family of fate.

"Oh, thank you, miss, for accepting me."

"I feel the same way."

Both villains sat down in the two seats to my left.

I really wanted to curse all of this bullshit.

How unlucky could I really be?

’I should take it back and complain.’

No, I don’t think that’s possible, and besides, it would draw their attention.

It would be obvious to them that I had tried to keep them away from me.

’But seriously, how can something like this happen?’

There was the guy who was part of the group that would cause chaos at this Auction, and there was that damn Witch who makes life miserable for anyone around her.

’Oh, right, I have a damn Dark Destiny, don’t I?’

But I thought that was about luck, not fate-related things.

Maybe my destiny had always been to become a villain and die as one.

But none of this could be attributed to luck.

In any case, there was nothing I could do anymore, so I simply nodded.

"You’re welcome. It’s a shame you lost your Private Rooms."

The shitty Witch turned toward me and smiled. She wasn’t wearing a mask.

"Thank you very much, dear. I’ve heard about you. I heard you created a very revolutionary potion."

"Forgive my ignorance, but who are you?"

Mia shouldn’t know who this shitty Witch was.

So I asked just in case.

The shitty Witch widened her eyes slightly.

"Good heavens, you don’t recognize me."

"I’m sorry. I’m always focused on my alchemy."

I scratched my head, pretending to be nervous and uncomfortable.

The shitty Witch sighed as if she understood my words.

"Oh, honestly. Well, creating that incredible potion of yours must have taken a long time, right?"

"That’s right. It took me five years."

"Wow, five years. Anyway, I am known as the Witch of Depravity. Do you recognize me now?"

I pretended to be surprised at meeting a celebrity and said,

"Is it really you? I can’t believe it. Please forgive me for not recognizing you. I’m a fan of yours. I’m a Witch too, you know? And although I like alchemy, I’d rather be like you."

No, disgusting.

"Hahaha, you flatter me, dear. Yes, I’m famous, but not that famous. I’m from the Holy Continent just like you, but my fame doesn’t cover the entire Continent. It’s unfortunate, but I have to admit it."

"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m aware of my mistake in not recognizing you, but you’re definitely very famous. The Empire has placed a bounty of twenty billion gold coins on your head, and I’m not even remotely as famous as you are."

I really didn’t want to continue this conversation, but I couldn’t stop.

The shitty Witch, just as her title suggests, is truly the most disgusting woman that could exist on this entire Continent.

I don’t want to talk about what she does, but her title speaks louder than a thousand words.

Witch of Depravity.

According to the game’s description, as disgusting as the shitty Witch may be, there is one thing nobody could deny.

’I feel sick saying this, but she’s truly beautiful.’

Hair as black as ink, just like her eyes; a figure truly worthy of being called a beauty.

She could easily rank among the ten most beautiful women in all of Holy Land.

Of course, that is if it weren’t for what she does. Even so, I remember some perverted fans of the game who wished they could marry this shitty Witch.

’Ugh, I feel like I’m going to throw up, seriously.’

I just hope she doesn’t come near me. I really hope she doesn’t, because I’ll kill her at any cost.

"Oh, dear, with your recently created potion, you’ll soon be famous."

"I think the same."

The man on the other side of that shitty Witch said:

"I tried it, and its effect is truly incredible. I’m stronger than the others in my Class."

Now that I think about it, that guy was a Class 6 villain, and his Power of Chaos was abnormally higher than that of a normal Class 6.

It was almost as if he were a Class 7.

That shitty Witch was also Class 6, but overall, she was probably far more dangerous than that guy over there.

’The butler is pretty weak, so when the time comes, he’ll only be a minor nuisance.’

In any case, I said to that shitty Witch:

"Heh, heh, I guess you’re right."

"Isn’t that right, dear? By the way, wouldn’t you like to work for me...?"

"No, sorry."

I flatly refused. If I accepted, then Mia would somehow end up being kidnapped by this shitty Witch.

’I haven’t even gotten any use out of her yet, so she belongs to me until she becomes useful.’

For now, Mia is mine. Unless I no longer need her, I’ll simply use her for the time being.

That shitty Witch seemed disappointed, and her smile faltered.

"That’s a shame, but I suppose I can’t force you."

A strange smile suddenly formed, and a thought crossed my mind.

’Don’t tell me she was planning to kidnap Mia.’

In that case...

’No, absolutely not. Yes, Mia might be very useful because of her position in the Abraham Clan, but...’

Thinking about who that shitty Witch was, I shook my head.

Shortly afterward, the conversation came to an end.

The butler approached me and asked:

"My lady, would you like something to drink?"

’Something to drink...’

I thought about it for a few seconds and said:

"A tequila, thank you."

"I’ll bring it shortly, and what about the two special guests?"

That shitty Witch answered without hesitation.

"A demon’s urine."

’Tsk, as expected of a shitty Witch.’

The unflappable butler, with his stone-like expression, looked at the man.

"Me, a whiskey."

The butler went to his small bar and started looking for the bottles and... the demon’s urine.

’Seriously, why do Witches at that shitty Witch’s level drink something like that?’

Just thinking about it made me nauseous. The smell demons give off is so damn disgusting.

I still remember the terrible stench from when I was in Chapter One of Luminus’s Memory Gate.

In any case, it seemed the Auction was about to begin.

There was some activity after I used my senses. I noticed that preparations were underway and that the auctioneer had remained motionless at the center of the stage, reading a few letters or notes.

’Well, I suppose I have about three hours before all the chaos begins.’

Time was running short, and I had already made all the necessary preparations.

Though I hope I won’t have too much trouble keeping Clana safe.

***

"This way, miss."

A man elegantly dressed as a butler and carefully groomed bowed and ushered her into the Private Room.

Clana nodded without saying anything and went straight to sit in a large seat facing a glass wall that overlooked an enormous stage.

As soon as she sat down, she immediately felt how comfortable it was and thought:

’What is this? It’s so soft.’

She looked at the butler, who had returned to his small bar a few meters away from where she was sitting.

"Hey, where did you get this seat?"

The butler raised his head, looked at Clana, and smiled.

"Oh, that, miss. It was custom-made at a place called Heavenly Furniture. That seat is as comfortable as sleeping on a cloud."

"Yes, it really does feel that comfortable."

She felt like taking a nap, but she quickly dismissed the idea.

The auction was about to begin, and although she had no intention of buying anything for the moment, unless something valuable that suited her needs and plans caught her attention, she would refrain from purchasing anything.

Her budget was quite limited. Her status as a princess was not very high, and the money she received was very little compared to that of her siblings.

While Clana was lost in thought, the butler approached her.

Clana looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Is something wrong?"

"There is something I need to explain to you, miss."

"What is it? Tell me."

The butler explained with a simple and friendly smile:

"The auction is divided into three parts. In the first and second parts, you will find everything from common yet difficult-to-obtain items to items that once belonged to powerful figures of the past, as well as creations made by legendary blacksmiths and Arcanists."

Arcanists are the term used for mages who create Relics.

They differ from blacksmiths because they create Relics rather than merely Magical Items.

"Arcanists...?"

Clana asked expectantly.

The butler nodded and said:

"That’s right. There will be several items created by very famous Arcanists of the past. Their Relics were difficult to obtain, but I personally believe they are extremely valuable and powerful."

’Yes, that’s what I’m talking about.’

Clana felt that risking her life to come to Black City had truly been worth it.

Even though she had been invited, that did not mean she was completely safe.

"And before the third part, there will be a party. The great Sorcerer King and other very important figures from the Five Greats will be in attendance."

"I understand. I won’t miss it."

Clana nodded, and shortly afterward, the butler left.
