Chapter 222: The verdict given to the King.

When the most important conversation was over, Skars thanked everyone once again and allowed everyone to disperse, except for a couple of people who still did not wait his words. Among them were Amanda, Dexter, Milos, Richard, Rick, Hara, Nicole, Adeline, Klaus, Cornel, Sean and Urum.

It was a long conversation, overflowing with emotions, mostly female, of course.

The girls mourned the dead, among whom were people dear to them. In this war, a close-knit group of werewolves lost their older comrade, who was both their shield and their rear, who was always a wise adviser and a good friend.

Carrick was too young to die. His bond with his wife was so strong that she could not overcome it and gave her all in the battle, forever leaving with her husband to the Creator. They have two adult children who have yet to learn about this tragic news and try to move on under Marcel’s care. He promised that he would look after them until they grew up and were able to go out into adulthood on their own.

Richard gently hugged Haru, stroking her back as her head rested on his chest and tears continued to soak his shirt. Her heart was breaking with pain when she heard about the death of Eugene, her dear best friend, with whom they had grown up since childhood as two sisters. Even Richard’s presence couldn’t make up for her sadness. Nicole and Adeline were also heartbroken.

It seemed like they could exhale because it was over, but they still had too long to deal with the consequences of this battle.

- Come in. - Skars said even before there was a knock on the door.

Visibly nervous and clutching the hem of her dress tightly in her hands, Giselle hesitantly went inside and immediately stopped, saw the back of her own father bending forward on his knees and bound with magical bonds.

- I promised you wouldn’t have to come back here, but I had to break my word, just because I want to thank you for your brave act, too.

- I didn’t do anything special at all. - She protested, looking very depressed and sad.

- If it hadn’t been for you, I would have come too late to fix anything else. Therefore, I leave it to you to decide the fate of this worthless man who is called your father.

Skars walked around Christopher and grabbed him by the hair, forcing him to whine and raise his heads.

- Your daughter is here. Finally have the courage to look into her eyes.

Giselle walked towards her father so slowly that it seemed like an eternity had passed. But she was too afraid. She was afraid that she would easily forgive him, or on the contrary, say that she did not care about his fate.

He abandoned her and her mother, and then ran away to his mistress altogether. He had a daughter on the side, which Giselle found out about too late, having never been able to meet her, because when she found out about it, Xana was already dead.

He didn’t even try to find Giselle when Raphael brutally executed Serena and Jorel. He abandoned his people, cowardly running away, fearing Raphael’s wrath. So what kind of treatment did he deserve towards himself? How could she put an end to his record after all that he had done?

She was silent and crying softly as she stood in front of him, and his eyes were scared and watery just like hers. She wanted to look into his soul to find answers to her questions.

- Why are you crying? - she asked, finding no answers. – You have no right to do that. Are you afraid for your life?

He shook his head desperately, but there was still fear in his eyes. Giselle lowered her head dejectedly and grinned.

- That’s exactly what I looked like when I asked their not to kill me. But I looked even worse when I was in a dungeon without food, water, or any means of a normal existence. I was on the verge of death every day while you were living your happy life without even trying to get me out of here. Have I ever meant anything to you? Or was I just a means to achieve your goals?

She was sobbing, bursting into tears, not caring at all about her own appearance.

Everyone who was still in the Council Chamber hurried away. There was only Skars, who was waiting for the verdict.

- Would you mind freeing his mouth? - she asked, and then, with a snap of his fingers, Christopher was able to take a deep breath, gasping for air.

- What do you want from me, Daddy? - she asked, with a pang in her heart. – What do you expect from me?

- My dear. - He twisted his face as if it hurt him to see her tear–stained face. - I’m not the best father you could have, but I love you so much.

- A beautiful lie. Then why weren’t you with me? Why? – she screamed and went up to him, hit him on the chest with her fists, causing him to fall back, still tied up.

A pitiful sight for a fallen king.

- I... I... - he tried to turn slightly to one side to get up and sit down. – I was just scared. Scared to death.

- So your death scared you more than mine? - She grinned, shaking her head. – You just disgust me. You know, I can never be like you. I can’t say that I wish you dead, but I think you should be punished for everything you’ve done.

- What are you... Wait... - he got even more scared after her words and started stuttering.

- I want him locked up in a dungeon. The one where I was sitting. - She said, trying to suppress the urge to let him go. – He should be punished on an equal basis with other criminals and receive deserved punishment for taking the side of the man who caused so many people to die.

With that, she walked around him, drowning out his screams. She didn’t turn around anymore, slamming the door.

Skars clapped his hands, summing up the results.

- What’s going on? The great king of Adaman will end his life as a simple prison rat. Funny. – he liked Giselle’s decision, he fully approved and supported it, enjoying the thought that he and Christopher would have many more personal meetings for interesting conversations while he rotted for his own mistakes.

The only question remained, what to do with Giselle herself?
