Chapter 398: 398: So Fearful

After hearing Brama’s confession about the true reason he infiltrated the Iron Fangs and who ordered him to infiltrate the Iron Fangs, Simon calmly nodded without a change in his expression.

He closed his eyes and numerous calculations and simulations began to run in his mind.

’Hmm... The factions might have given me a headstart to accomplish one of the things I planned on doing.’

’How lucky.’

He opened his eyes, then his lips curled into a smile behind his mask.

He looked at Brama.

"I’ll let you go, but when you meet your masters, tell them that if they try something like this again, I won’t mind taking an arm from them."

Despite Simon’s threatening words, Brama was focused on the fact that Simon told him that he would let him go.

He was shocked and in complete disbelief.

Even Akaza and the Iron Fangs were in disbelief and were baffled.

Just like Brama said, they also expected Simon to either kill, embarrass, or cause serious injuries to Brama.

Was he truly letting Brama go because both of them were slaves?

Was Simon the type to show compassion toward his fellow slaves?

Akaza, Brama, and the Iron Fangs had the same questions in their minds, and Brama could not help but ask.

"Are- are you really letting me go?"

Simon nodded with a light smile behind his mask.

"Definitely."

He gestured at the door.

"You can leave. I won’t stop you, and nobody will stop you. Just make sure to tell your masters that they’ll regret it if they ever do such a thing again."

Brama looked at Simon with a suspicious expression, then he looked at the door with an even more suspicious expression.

’He must be toying with me. It’s not the first time I’ve been fooled by demons like him. They take pleasure in watching me make a fool of myself.’

The light in Brama’s eyes suddenly dimmed as he became depressed when he had this thought.

A small part of him had been hoping that Simon was sincere and that he would show him mercy because they were both slaves.

But a big part of him was certain that this was all a ploy to embarrass him.

He was used to things like this.

He had suffered at the hands of many faction members, and at the end of the day, he was just a hollow shell.

’He hasn’t even untied me. So that’s the trick, he obviously wants me to struggle and try to untie myself.’

’He wants me to-’

Before he could finish his thoughts, something he did not expect happened.

Simon leaned forward, then he extended his claws, coated it with demonic energy, then he slowly and cleanly cut the ropes binding him.

Brama looked down with stunned eyes, and a few seconds later, the role was completely cut and it fell on the wet ground.

"Leave."

Simon’s words shook him out of his thoughts and stunned state.

He looked at Simon, unable to come up with a coherent thought.

"Or do you want me to throw you out?" Simon asked with a slight tilt of his head.

At these words, Brama finally responded.

He shook his head, but no words still came out of his lips because he didn’t know what to say.

He looked at the door, looked at Simon, then he slowly and cautiously stood while keeping his gaze on Simon.

When he stood to his full height, he looked at Simon with a complicated expression.

’Can I truly leave?’

He cautiously turned around and started walking to the door, but he would take a glance at Simon and at the Iron Fangs once in a while.

When he finally reached the door, he cautiously placed his hand on the handle, looked at Simon and the Iron Fangs once again.

When he saw that there was still no response from the two, he warily opened the door and the moment the door was wide enough for him to pass through, he bolted out of the room without hesitation and slammed the door shut.

Bang!

Simon’s lips twitched when he saw this, and he could not help but shake his head.

’What has he gone through for him to be so fearful?’

He pushed the matters of Brama to the back of his mind. He had plans for Brama, and those plans might come to fruition very soon.

He stood, then he turned and looked at Akaza and the Iron Fangs.

He could clearly see their confused gazes, and he knew that they all had questions to ask him, but he didn’t care and was not bothered enough to address them.

Because of how cold he was toward Akaza earlier, none had the courage to question him, and he liked it that way.

He didn’t have the time to start thinking of excuses as to why he did not hurt Brama when he had a much bigger plan.

Besides, hurting or killing Brama might give the factions a reason to kill him or to attack the Iron Fangs with full force.

Simon definitely did not want that.

"Akaza. Get everything that’s on that list, and make sure you’re not followed or attacked from behind. Don’t trust anybody, and don’t be foolish."

Akaza calmly nodded in response, and with a slightly complicated expression, he walked toward the door.

He walked past Simon, and though he had some questions to ask, he kept them to himself.

He had learned his lesson, and he knew that if he had any question to ask that would make it seem like he was questioning Simon’s leadership qualities and decisions, he would ask them privately and not in the presence of all the members of the Iron Fangs.

He left the building, leaving behind Simon and the Iron Fangs. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Simon placed his right leg on his left leg, then he closed his eyes and completely ignored the Iron Fangs.

A few minutes later, he received a message from Sunless through his Grave Mark, asking where he was and if he was coming to class.

He only told her that he was not going for any class, then he ignored her.

Today would be the first day where he would miss every class, and he didn’t mind since he could go through the library and read the necessary books under the World Pillar.

He had to prepare for the duel tomorrow, and the best way for him to prepare was for him to use the mental techniques of the Mad Scientist.

If not for these twelve traitorous fools, he would have left and began studying the two books.
