Chapter 144: 12.10 Even a tenth of Emerys, is better than all of you

A-Xuan owes it to the original to kill both Naethan and Maddox. A-Xuan aimed his hand at the door, freezing the lock, and it was broken from the outside.

Maddox watched as Emerys entered and closed the door behind him. A-Xuan ran to him, jumping in his arms. He kissed him and asked with a smile:

"Did you miss me?"

Emerys kissed the tip of his nose.

"I missed you."

"And I you, my love."

Emerys smiled, putting him down gently. He grabbed his hands walking to the other. Emerys looked at Naethen’s sorry figure with a smile. Maddox was wordless, but the truth was in front of him.

He saw the way A-Xuan peered at Emerys, he’s been seeing it all week, but once again like a fool, he had hope. What is wrong with me? He glanced at Naethan. A-Xuan has been playing both of them. He was right, he knew of their plan all along.

Wanting to be done with them, A-Xuan used his aerial ability and made Maddox kneel next to Naethan. He mocked:

"Even a tenth of Emerys is better than all of you."

Feeling his words thrown back in his face, Maddox felt humiliated. He should’ve just killed him as he thought from the beginning, but like a fool, he had hope again.

A-Xuan said:

"You’re too egomaniacal to care for anyone, so to you, it was either I loved you as much as you love yourself self, or I die. Do you realize how insane that sounds?"

Maddox said:

"I only wanted you to love me. If you did, I never would’ve tried to kill you."

"You can’t force anyone to love you. If you truly loved me, you’d want me to be happy even if it meant with someone else."

Maddox yelled:

"Never! If the person I love doesn’t love me, then he should die."

A-Xuan burst out laughing.

"I don’t even know why I’m having this conversation with you. The worse is that you were about to kill someone who has real feelings for you."

Maddox frowned, looking at Naethan. When he did, he met pain-filled eyes. He wanted to say something, but couldn’t.

Maddox felt that Naethan only wanted to have him as an accessory, as he did with A-Xuan. He didn’t think he had deep sentiments for him.

He probably thought that once A-Xuan was dead they could’ve been together, but he tried to kill him.

"Naetha..."

Before he finished speaking, A-Xuan had slit his throat with an ice dagger.

"Naethan!"

Maddox’s shout resonated in the entire hangar.

"This is proof of what I was saying. You just want someone who loves you as much as you love yourself. And you had it, plus you and I both know how narcissistic Naethan is. So for him to have feelings for someone who isn’t himself is a Herculean task."

Maddox looked at Naethan’s collapsed body. He knows how unfeeling he is, but he formed feelings for him. Someone finally developed feelings for him, but now he’s gone.

All this time, he’s been so focused on A-Xuan that he saw the signs in front of him. He looked at A-Xuan with hatred.

"Don’t look at me like that. If I hadn’t stopped you before, you would’ve murdered him."

"He was right all along."

A-Xuan sneered:

"He was. I knew what you had planned. Even if you would’ve brought me to that house, I would’ve killed myself before you ever laid a hand on me."

Maddox looked at him, stunned.

How did he never see how vicious and manipulating he was?

"You killed Naethan when you’ve been with him, and you’ve known him since you were kids. You’re a heartless monster."

A-Xuan laughed.

"That’s the pot calling the kettle black. You guys intended to kill me. Naethan because he wants my place, and you because I don’t love you. Oh, and I intend to kill you too. I’m not concerned about our past, I never have."

Maddox looked into his eyes and could see that he was serious. He isn’t concerned about their history and their friendship. Then I’ll do what I should’ve done a long time ago.

Maddox lifted his hand, aiming it at A-Xuan, but before he could hit him, he was thrown on the other side of the hangar. He tried to stand up, but two zombies bit him.

He tried to lift his hands to aim at them, but couldn’t. He turned his hand and saw that they were entirely wrapped in ice. He screamed for 20 minutes while zombies fed on him.

A-Xuan and Emerys left to deal with the zombies and when they came back, he was dead. Emerys controlled all the zombies, and they formed one line.

An ice blade materialized in A-Xuan’s hand. Using the wind, he aimed it at the row. When the spear passed through the last zombie’s brain, they all fell to the ground.

Everyone looked at them, speechless. It’s no wonder they are together. After getting all the weapons and loading them into the trucks, they all left for the base. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Two days later, they went to get the processing equipment for the vaccine. After spending a week in the lab, A-Xuan could make enough for the entire base and show the physician how to do it. Once more were made, they offered it to other bases for a minimal fee.

Thanks to it and Emerys’ dark ability, the base thrived and expanded. 15 years after the outbreak, the world was back to normal. They were no more zombies.

The reason it didn’t work in the OG TL is that the third virus wiped out half the population. But over time, A-Xuan’s virus reach the entire country then the world, and everyone got vaccinated.

He and Emerys’ names were still known as saviors more than 700 years after their death. The two never left each other side even when the world went back to the way it was.

A-Xuan appeared in Lotus space. Once receiving the world’s energy A-Xuan went directly to the next one excitedly.
