Chapter 42: 4.4 End of bright slumber

A-Xuan entered his royal chambers and closed the door. He took his hood off and leaned against the door. "What the fuck just happened? Why did Yan Wang’s bright slumber end early?"

He actually managed to take a 20,000-year-old man by surprise. A-Xuan genuinely didn’t see that coming. He thought, after so many years, his husband couldn’t take him by surprise anymore, but he did.

That snake managed to get on top of him and restrain him before he could think. A-Xuan put a hand to his face, thinking about his reaction when he was bitten.

He could’ve used the system to suppress the effect, but he didn’t because he didn’t think anyone would bite him. He’s a vampire; he’s supposed to be the one to do the biting!

He didn’t like that feeling; everything is usually always under his control. A-Xuan thought for a few seconds. Now that he thinks about it, his husband has always been the variable.

A-Xuan never thought he would meet him or that he would follow him from world to world, but he did.

He never thought he could fall in love and be unable to live without someone, but it happened. A-Xuan put his cloak back in his space and got into bed. He closed his eyes, and beautiful blue eyes appeared. He shook his head with a smile.

Those eyes are lethal. He didn’t mean to blurt out his thought, but he did, like with Wu Jing. His husband has always been obsessed with his eyes, and vice versa.

The first time he looked into them, he felt like he looked into someone familiar. A-Xuan closed his eyes again and fell asleep.

Yan Wang undressed and got into the shower after cutting his long hair. He is finally free from his bright slumber. Before he fell into slumber, he was just going through the motions, but now he feels excited about the future.

Those past two weeks changed his life, and he can’t go back. He doesn’t want to go back. For the first time in 1500 years, he feels. Ever since he was born, all he did was kill.

They didn’t go to war just with humans; the kingdom was also at war for a long time. There were a lot of radicals who thought vampires should rule the world, while the originals always believed in cohabitation.

Being the first son, he had to set the example and fight. He never minded; killing is like second nature to him. The first time his army saw him on the battlefield, they realized why the king named him Yan Wang.

He is the god of death, and everyone fears him. Everyone except him. Yan Wang smiled as he got out of the shower. Baby V isn’t scared of me. Even when he got on top of him, he was just surprised, not scared.

When he touched him, he immediately knew he was a vampire; he only tasted his blood to see how strong he was.

They are on the same level; no wonder he got through the seal. Yan Wang sat on the window sill and looked at the full moon.

After a few seconds, he turned and looked at the doors. After those two weeks, he knows his Baby V better, which means he knows that he didn’t end his bright slumber just because he thinks he should be king.

It’s surreal to think he can finally hear him every time he speaks. He wasn’t a talkative person, to begin with, but he wanted A-Xuan to hear him.

For two weeks, he spoke to him without answers. Yan Wang smirked, that cute Baby V is truly fascinating.

A-Xuan woke up, and after taking a shower, he left for Yan Wang’s imperial chambers. He knocked, and when he heard "enter," he got in. Yan Wang was still in the shower, but with their enhanced hearing, it wasn’t surprising that he heard him.

A-Xuan put the suit on the chair and waited. Yan Wang came out of the bathroom and went directly into the waiting room where A-Xuan was. A-Xuan watched as he walked toward him with only a towel around his waist.

He had already dried his hair and body. A-Xuan watched his six-pack in a trance. In every life, his husband has always been fit, but this is another level. He shook his head to focus and met Yan Wang’s mocking eyes.

A-Xuan blushed; he rapidly knelt and said: "Good morning, your majesty."

Yan Wang passed him, picked up the suit, and left to get dressed while saying, "You may stand."

A-Xuan got up and watched his retreating back intently. Yan Wang seemed to feel it and turned, but before he could catch him, A-Xuan had already sat in the chair looking toward the window.

He smiled and left to get dressed. When he finished, he came out looking like your typical overbearing president. The three-piece suit fitted him to perfection, and you could still see his muscled arms and legs through it.

The dark color of the suit made his eyes seem glossy. A-Xuan very much approved; he got up, opened the door, and made way for the king.

Yan Wang put his hands in his pockets and walked to the council room with A-Xuan behind him with a vicious smile on. Time to get things in order.

Yan Hao was sitting around the table in the council room. The room was tremendous and richly decorated. A big chandelier was hanging above the big table in the center of the room.

At the head of the table was a large empty throne. Every council member was sitting around the table looking at him. "I think that just a few vampires protesting against the cohabitation with humans isn’t the most pressing issue."

Yan Lo looked at him and asked in a mocking tone: "Then what? We just wait until there’s too many to contain?"

He isn’t stupid; he knows full well what his uncle is up to but he can’t do anything about it. More than half of the council supports everything he says.

He doesn’t have enough votes on his side to stop him from increasing the animosity of vampires against humans and passing more laws against them.

He knows that this isn’t what his brother wants, but he can only wait for the end of his bright slumber. Yan Hao looked at him and said: "Nephew, you know the last thing I want is for the kingdom to be in turmoil, but it will be if we stop descendants from protesting their beliefs."

Yan Lo said: "Uncle, it’s more than that, and you know it. Those descendants are just a small part of an underground extremist group who wants nothing to do with humans."

Yan Hao’s eyes flashed with anger, but he quickly put on a smile: "You have already made those kinds of indictments before, but do you have proof to back it up this time?"

Yan Lo looked at him angrily, while Yan Hao had a mocking smile on. He knows his nephew doesn’t have proof because the extremist group is backed up by him.

The group’s getting bigger, and the more vampires want the end of the peace treaty, the better. They are vampires; they are above in the food chain. Why should they mind?

In less than a year, that fool A-Xuan

will be siphoned, and Yan Ning will finally be able to kill that useless king Yan Wang.

Yan Hao gave a knowing look to a few council members and said with confidence: "Let’s vote. Those who are in favor of..."

Before he could finish, both doors of the council room opened.
