The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master
Chapter 269: Disqualified
Elise Langdon was fuming and quickly denied it. "That’s not true!"
"That paper wad is in your hand," Vera Xavier said, calling her out directly.
After all, Elise Langdon didn’t have Vera Xavier’s composure. The paper wad was right in her hand, and she had no way to get rid of it!
The male teacher said sternly, "Young lady, please open your hand."
Elise Langdon bit her lip and made a rash decision. ’My grades are bad anyway, and I won’t do well on this test no matter what. I might as well drag Vera Xavier down with me.’
So she pointed at Vera Xavier and shouted, "Teacher, she’s the one who threw the note to me!"
Vera Xavier, perfectly calm, pointed at Cara Preston. "Teacher, you can compare the handwriting on that note with the writing on my exam paper. Also, I highly doubt this is an isolated incident. Where there’s one cheat sheet, there’s usually another. You might want to see if this student has any more notes on her." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Cara Preston panicked. Recently, her mind hadn’t been on her studies at all; she was completely focused on winning over Nathaniel Nathan, and her grades had plummeted as a result. But she still wanted to get into university, so she’d spent the last few days preparing various cheat sheets. This note was just one of them!
Of course, the matter had to be investigated, but not at the expense of delaying the other students’ exams.
The male and female teachers conferred for a moment, then decided to take the three girls to the adjacent office to sort things out.
Cara Preston shot Vera Xavier a vicious glare, but Vera just raised an eyebrow and returned a faint smile.
This made Cara Preston even more furious. Unwilling to even look at Vera Xavier again, she stormed out after the male teacher.
A cold glint flashed in Vera Xavier’s eyes. From a cunningly subtle angle, she stuck out her foot and tripped Cara Preston. Cara went tumbling to the ground, and the cheat sheets hidden in the folds of her clothes scattered everywhere.
No one else could see what Cara Preston was carrying, but thanks to her X-ray vision, Vera had already spotted the notes when Cara and Elise Langdon exchanged glances. That’s why she knew exactly how to expose Cara for who she really was.
Her eyes red with rage and humiliation, Cara Preston glared at Vera Xavier. "You tripped me!"
Vera Xavier put on a perfectly innocent expression. "No, I didn’t."
The other students in the exam hall gasped at the scene. The male teacher turned back, saw the pile of cheat sheets, and his face went pale with rage. He said coldly, "Pick up your things and get out!"
Cara Preston was seething. She knew she was in huge trouble now, and she really, truly wanted to tear Vera Xavier to shreds!
Shirley Forrest, who had been about to stand up to help Vera Xavier, saw how things were unfolding and realized Vera had it under control, so she stayed seated.
Once in the office, with Cara Preston’s massive pile of cheat sheets as evidence, Vera Xavier quickly cleared her name. "I saw Cara Preston pass the note to Elise Langdon, but I never expected they would try to frame me to get themselves out of it."
Elise Langdon was still stubbornly insisting, "Vera Xavier really did pass me that note! She’s the one who was cheating!"
She was telling the truth, but by now, no one believed her.
By this time, the male teacher had already compared the handwriting on the note. He confirmed it was Cara Preston’s, not Vera Xavier’s. So as not to delay her exam any further, he sent her back to the classroom, while Cara Preston and Elise Langdon were made to stay behind.
After returning to the classroom, Vera Xavier resumed her exam. Cara Preston and Elise Langdon, however, never returned. They were disqualified and removed from the examination hall.
