The City's Strongest Son-in-law
Chapter 1208 - 1207: Reunion with Yue Qingshan
What he needed to do now was to take one last look at this city, where he had lived for so long. Even if he truly couldn’t return, at least he could reminisce before he died.
He went to Zhu Lie’s old convenience store and lit a cigarette. He couldn’t help but recall events from long ago, when he would watch the back of Han Xue here every day.
Back then, Su Changfeng was ridiculed by everyone, yet he continued to live a warm and happy life, accompanying Han Xue every day, enjoying a kind of mundane happiness like a married couple.
After finishing his cigarette, Su Changfeng threw the butt away, only to hear a familiar female voice saying, "Don’t you know it’s bad to litter cigarette butts?"
Su Changfeng looked at the approaching woman in shock, obediently picking up his cigarette butt and throwing it into the nearest trash bin.
"Surprised to see me? I’m back," Yue Qingshan approached Su Changfeng, her gaze tightly locked onto his eyes.
"Yeah, very surprised. Why did you come back?" Su Changfeng looked at her with a puzzled expression. Seeing Yue Qingshan again was indeed unexpected. Perhaps she had been following him for a while, and he hadn’t noticed.
It seemed that he really hadn’t been on guard earlier, lost in his memories. If someone had wanted to harm him then, he might not have realized it until it was too late.
Yue Qingshan didn’t answer but directly rushed into Su Changfeng’s arms.
"Don’t move. Just a hug, just a hug," Yue Qingshan said.
Su Changfeng didn’t move, standing there stiffly, their bodies tightly embraced, seemingly able to feel each other’s warmth.
After a long five minutes, Yue Qingshan finally released Su Changfeng.
With eyes misty with tears, Yue Qingshan looked at Su Changfeng and said, "I came to Jiang City a long time ago, initially planning to see her, but I didn’t dare go."
The "her" Yue Qingshan referred to was, of course, Han Xue.
The reason for her visit to Jiang City was surely because she had heard about Han Xue’s situation. The commotion caused by Shangguan Sichen gathering international doctors was not small; even if Yue Qingshan hadn’t specifically investigated, she would have found out.
"Why didn’t you dare?" Su Changfeng asked, though he had a rough idea of the reason.
"I feel guilty toward her, having improper thoughts about her husband. How could I face her?" Yue Qingshan said sadly.
Such blunt, undisguised admiration could only be spoken by Yue Qingshan. She had never hidden her feelings for Su Changfeng, something he was already used to.
But this didn’t change his attitude, as he decisively and directly rejected her.
"Since you realize your mistake, everything will be fine once you correct it," Su Changfeng said. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Tears welled up in Yue Qingshan’s eyes as she shook her head vigorously, choking out, "I don’t want to correct it. I don’t want to. I simply fell for someone unbiddenly. What have I done wrong?"
Su Changfeng sighed deeply and looked at her, saying, "Do you care about Han Xue?"
"I do." Yue Qingshan answered without hesitation. To her, liking Su Changfeng and caring about Han Xue were equally important matters, although she couldn’t have both, which made her so distressed.
This return to Jiang City was also a long agony for Yue Qingshan. Originally, she was preparing to return to the United States, but upon hearing that Su Changfeng had returned, she stayed a while longer.
In Yue Qingshan’s mind, being girlfriends with Han Xue and her feelings for Su Changfeng were clearly prioritized, though she was just wishful thinking, unable to gain Su Changfeng’s affection.
"I’ve told you many times, I won’t be with you," Su Changfeng said helplessly, unable to count how many times this conversation had happened.
Though Yue Qingshan had grown accustomed to Su Changfeng’s rejections, her attitude was different this time.
She wiped away her tears, her expression becoming resolute as she looked at Su Changfeng and asked, "What if Han Xue agreed?"
Upon hearing this, Su Changfeng’s heart skipped a beat. How could Han Xue possibly agree to such a thing?
Though Han Xue had once jokingly suggested they find a place that allows polygamy, Su Changfeng saw it as just a test and refused immediately.
As a woman, if she truly loved a man, who would be willing to share her man with others?
After all, putting himself in her shoes, Su Changfeng would never want to share Han Xue with another man, not even in death.
But seeing the determination in Yue Qingshan’s eyes, it was very likely she already had a plan.
"What do you mean? What are you planning to do?" Su Changfeng looked at Yue Qingshan with caution, not wanting her to do anything rash.
Yue Qingshan shook her head and said, "There’s no need to be so nervous. I’m just saying, without any particular meaning."
"Yue Qingshan, I’m telling you, don’t do anything reckless!" Su Changfeng stared at her sternly.
Yue Qingshan’s heart wrenched. She loved Su Changfeng so much, practically giving up everything, even disregarding her friendship, yet he continually rejected her, never reciprocating her feelings. The blow she received was undoubtedly devastating.
However, Yue Qingshan was never one to give up easily. As long as there was a glimmer of hope, she would strive for it.
"Just seeing you again makes me happy." After saying this, Yue Qingshan left without another word.
Watching Yue Qingshan’s departing figure, Su Changfeng exhaled heavily.
To be honest, he occasionally felt a pang of softness towards Yue Qingshan, knowing that a woman could go to such lengths for him required immense courage.
During their time in the United States, when Su Changfeng was at the brink of life and death, Yue Qingshan stood by his side unwaveringly, even abandoning her own family.
Yet despite this sentiment, Su Changfeng really could not accept it; he would never betray Han Xue, regardless of who the other person was.
"Sorry, I’m destined to disappoint you. Maybe in the next life, I can make it up to you," Su Changfeng said.
After meeting Yue Qingshan, Su Changfeng lost the mood to wander around. He flagged down a car and was ready to leave.
Once in the car, Su Changfeng mentioned the destination, and the driver was taken aback.
Everyone knew about the situation at Xianwu Mountain. Even the big shots living there couldn’t return. What was this young man up to, wanting to go there?
Perhaps he’s an outsider, unaware of the happenings at Xianwu Mountain?
Out of goodwill, the driver couldn’t help but caution, "Young man, do you have business at Xianwu Mountain? Haven’t you heard about the situation there?"
