Chapter 19: Praise The Clown

After gathering her breath, Aurora Bright looked down at herself and the mess she had made.

Water trickled down her thighs, and had soaked her hand. When she saw this, she looked at herself in embarrassed disbelief.

What sort of woman am I?

She tried to clench her legs tightly together as if to hide herself from the god; however, as she did, her mind came back to her. She remembered that it was his request for her to do this.

As she looked up at the Clown, she found him with a satisfied look on his face. It was as though he was looking at a piece of art that he had just created with satisfaction.

With a quivering voice, she managed to speak. "A-are you satisfied, M-Mister Clown?"

The question itself was embarrassing to ask, especially with her naked legs still exposed to him.

However, she was pleasantly surprised to find that the Clown nodded his head.

"Very satisfied. You have pleased me very much and earned my favour."

A smile slowly crept onto the woman’s face. She wanted to cheer with joy!

Earning the favour of a god was no small thing. She wondered what it could possibly entail.

"At this moment, I will grant you an answer to one question of your choice. Or I can provide for you what you asked about before: a display of the God of Restoration’s powers." The Clown then said, leaning back in his chair and watching as the woman put her underwear and tights back onto her soaking body.

Aurora sat down with a reeling mind.

One question of my choice?

A thousand different questions came to her at that moment.

She contemplated asking something as simple as the weather for tomorrow, or something as complex as asking the god what the spiritual world was like.

However, after a full minute of thought, she managed to come to a conclusion. One that she believed was important to know the answer to, if she was to follow this god with her entire being.

"I would like to know what your ultimate goal is, as a god."

The question caught Solomon off guard, but he tried his best not to show her.

My ultimate goal as a god? I haven’t even thought of such an answer myself. At the moment, I’m simply focused on growing my religion.

However, if I had to think of it on a deeper level, an answer does come to mind.

Solomon placed a smug smile on his face, but inside he was worried. Worried that other gods might hear the answer to his question and take it as a declaration of war.

"Well, that is simple. To become the most powerful god of course."

"..."

Aurora sat there, eyes widening as she stared at the Clown in silence.

"Ehhh?!"

What sort of god have I gotten myself involved with? Is this not a declaration of war, and a challenge to all other gods?! Aurora thought to herself.

As she watched the Clown’s unbothered demeanour, she managed to calm herself down.

Could the Clown’s calm demeanour and lack of fear suggest that he has such confidence in himself, and that perhaps, he is the one feared by the other gods?

...

Meanwhile, Solomon’s heart raced.

I do hope that the other gods forgive me for speaking such brazen words. But if you do plan on attacking me, please wait until I become stronger. He thought to himself humourously.

With this, Aurora bowed her head in respect and rose to her feet. "Thank you, Mister Clown. Is it appropriate for me to pray to you daily?"

Solomon nodded. "Yes. However, I cannot promise to meet you every time. Just know that your prayers will always be heard."

This was understandable. Of course, the gods were busy.

After saying her goodbyes, Aurora returned to her seat in the stands and allowed the pink fog to envelop her body.

Afterwards, she found herself returned to her body that sat in the library. At first, she wondered whether it was all a dream, but the wet spots in her underwear told her otherwise.

She buried her face in her hands, filled with both joy and embarrassment.

"I’ve done it... I’ve finally become connected with a god."

"..."

"Praise the Clown"

---

The next morning, Solomon woke up in Vodengaard guard city and ate breakfast in the tavern. The entire time, chatter spread throughout the room.

They spoke of a distinguished and royal chariot travelling through the city streets that morning, heading towards the Vodengaard Palace.

Solomon knew who it was.

Princess Lucy & King Henry.

Today was the day that she would meet her husband-to-be, and enjoy a meal together; and tonight would be the night that she would lure the man into the palace bedroom, for him to have his life taken from him by the Clown.

Solomon was prepared. He had practised extensively with the powers of restoration, familiarising himself with both its offensive and defensive capabilities.

All he had to do now was wait for Lucy to play her part.

---

Lucy Windelle arrived at the palace walking side by side with her Father, King Henry.

As they stepped out of their Chariot, now standing before the giant, spiralling palace, they noticed an array of maids and butlers waiting for them.

However, most importantly were two figures standing atop the staircase leading towards the palace.

These were the most distinguished pair of men she had ever seen, both with elegant crowns atop their heads, and dressed in black smart suits.

They descended the staircase and met the two visitors by their chariot.

The older man was skinny and frail, yet tall. He seemed to wear a look of shyness on his face, despite being king of the entire kingdom. Draped over his black suit was a white cape etched in golden symbols.

This was King Malagen Valanian of the Valanian Kingdom.

What a weak, yet elegant-looking man...

However, Lucy’s eyes were more drawn to the shorter, but stronger-built young man standing beside him.

This man was also dressed in a black suit, but wore no cape. Atop his beautifully styled black hair was a silver crown, and his ears were both pierced with jewels. His face was handsome, but the smile on it seemed sinister. On his waist was a thin sword, and his hand always seemed to linger around it. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

As the man approached Lucy, he looked down at her with a menacing presence, taking her hand in his and planting a delicate kiss on the back of her palm.

"Princess Lucy Windelle," the man spoke powerfully, not even waiting for his father to introduce himself first. "It is a pleasure to have you in our presence."

Lucy glanced over at King Malagen, and then her Father King Henry. Both men remained silent and seemed to gulp.

Was that fear she noticed in both their expressions?

Lucy felt herself becoming overwhelmed, but managed to remain strong and speak without quivering in her words.

"Prince Godrick Valanian. My Father and I look forward to having dinner with you both. May the goddess allow it to be a fruitful day."
