Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Snake

The sound of rocks rolling through the rubble echoed, while the squeaking of mice reverberated in the damp darkness.

And in one corner...

A snake was silently watching a small mouse.

It didn’t move for even a second.

Its body remained still as stone, its eyes fixed on its prey. And as soon as the mouse got any closer—

it pounced with lightning speed, sinking its fangs into it without mercy.

At that moment...

Jin emerged, leaning against the wall.

His hair hung over his face, partially hiding his eyes, while blood flowed profusely from his mouth, so much so that he could no longer stop it.

Devi looked at him silently for a few seconds, then whispered in a low voice laced with cold sarcasm:

“My God... I pity your condition. If only you could see yourself right now...”

Then his laughter rang out in the darkness...

mixed with saliva and blood between his cracked lips.

Devi’s features suddenly changed, as if a sharp wave of nausea had struck his stomach.

His face twitched slightly, then he whispered in a low, agitated voice:

“Don’t make me feel sick...”

Veins spread across his body like cracks, bulging violently beneath his skin, as he repeated in a voice growing harsher:

“Weakness isn’t a flaw...”

He clenched his fist until the muscles in his arm trembled.

“The flaw... is to remain weak.” “Or to accept your weakness.”

But .. Jin...

He stood there in complete silence.

His features were frozen, his eyes fixed on Davey without the slightest flicker, as if the pain, the blood, and the destruction around him... no longer held any meaning.

An electric current surged through Devi’s body, while his eyes turned a terrifying red as he glared at Jin.

And in an instant

he lunged toward him with tremendous speed

vanishing from his spot like a flash of lightning, then delivering a crushing kick toward Jin’s ribs.

Jin tried to block the attack, raising his arms in front of his body, but the force was too violent to stop.

The attack struck his body with terrifying force, and Jin was sent tumbling across the ground, shattering the concrete beneath his back as he careened toward the other side.

Devi tensed his legs so hard that the veins bulged terrifyingly, then charged forward again at tremendous speed, leaving a long crack in the ground behind him.

He appeared before the rolling Jin in the blink of an eye,

his fist covered in a dark yellow glow,

then

he delivered a straight punch to Jin’s face.

The floor exploded under the blow, and Jin was violently hurled downward once more, before crashing into the debris amid a thick cloud of dust and blood.

He was no longer able to move.

A heavy paralysis had seized his entire body, while blood began to pool around him in a dark puddle.

Devi approached him slowly.

His footsteps echoed clearly in the silence, while electric sparks continued to dance around his body.

He leaned down slightly and said in a cold voice:

“Don’t mess with me... Are you really done?”

Then he kicked his head hard with his foot, spat on him with contempt, and whispered:

“You’re such trash...”

Then Davey turned away, leaving Jin defeated on the ground, half-dead amid the blood and debris.

He took a step forward, glancing indifferently at his phone.

But

in an instant, he felt warm liquid trickling from his mouth.

He froze in place.

He slowly lowered his gaze...

to find the wavy blade of a dagger piercing his stomach from behind.

His eyes widened in shock as Jin slowly approached him, blood dripping from his mouth, then whispered near his ear in a tired, cold voice:

“In a matter of seconds... the poison will spread throughout your entire body.”

He moved closer and whispered:

“And in a few minutes... you will die.”

Devi quickly put his hand over his mouth, but it filled with blood immediately.

He raised it to his eyes...

It was trembling.

He lost his balance, then fell forward onto his knees.

His vision began to blur gradually, as he saw Jin laughing sarcastically through the haze.

Jin looked at him with weary eyes and whispered:

“Strength isn’t everything...”

He wiped the blood from his lips, then continued in a low voice:

“As long as you lack intelligence... you are nothing.”

The corners of his mouth curved into a mocking smile.

“What a fool... You fell into my trap so easily.”

He slowly drew the dagger, while blood flowed freely from Davey’s wound.

Jin raised the dagger before his eyes and said:

“This is a special-grade dagger.”

The glint of the rippling blade reflected off his weary eyes.

“Its poison can dissolve rocks... so what do you think it can do to your body?”

Devi fell onto his side, breathing with difficulty, as sensation gradually began to fade from his limbs.

Jin sat down slowly beside him, then grabbed his head and slapped him violently from side to side, repeating hysterically:

“You’re going to die... you fool.”

A slap.

“Trash.”

Another slap.

Then he spat on him with contempt and staggered to his feet.

“My time is too precious to waste on you.”

He took a single step...

But the world began spinning violently around him.

The ground shook beneath his feet, and his vision blurred, before he collapsed beside Devi, unconscious.

And in the darkness...

A reel of memories raced through Devi’s mind.

Shikar’s laughter.

Kamal’s grueling training sessions.

And the face of a girl with distorted features that he saw

for a moment... then vanished.

And suddenly

the bottle holding her picture shattered.

Devi gradually lowered his gaze

his fingers went limp over the blood...

while the flame inside his eyes slowly went out.
