The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop
Chapter 773 - 42: Heavenly Master and the Former Slacker 42
"No, I’m just a beginner. My master is the real expert." Cui Wenyan shook his head and turned to Tianmiao with starry eyes. "Master, have you had a late-night snack? Should I go get some barbecue for you?"
"I’ve eaten. Get a good rest tonight. We’ll set off early tomorrow morning. Let your two classmates and family know." Tianmiao smiled as she patted Cui Wenyan’s head.
"Okay, okay." Cui Wenyan nodded vigorously. "Master, you should go rest quickly. I’ll see them off."
"Alright. Let Dong Xiao book the tickets."
Wu Yihao was a bit surprised to see the obedient Cui Wenyan. He seemed to understand why the usually quiet Cui Wenyan had become more cheerful lately.
Early the next morning, Wu Yihao and Liang Bing were already waiting at the airport. Both were carrying large backpacks, which were the items Cui Wenyan had asked them to prepare.
The human form of Uncle Fox was a man in his forties with a square face, looking stern. Bai Yue stood obediently beside him in a dark sports outfit. They looked like a father and daughter pair—a strict father and an obedient daughter. Tianmiao and Cui Wenyan were also dressed in sports outfits, both wearing hats.
Cui Wenyan waved to Wu Yihao and Liang Bing, who jogged over to join Tianmiao and their group of four.
"Let’s go, time to board. According to Luo Peng, it should be in a village in province X. We need to fly for over three hours and then transfer to a car," Cui Wenyan said. Luo Peng was Uncle Fox’s name.
"That’s quite far. Tracking from miles away, you must have worked hard to find Liang Bing’s group?" Wu Yihao asked on the side. "Hey, did all those little foxes fly here too? It must have cost a lot. How do they earn money?"
Luo Peng glanced at Wu Yihao and said drily, "No money, and we didn’t fly here. We found the scholar because he traveled there once, and a wandering child from our tribe saw him and told us when they came back."
"Did you fly on clouds or something? That’s so cool! Or was it the Shrinking Earth Technique? Or teleportation?" Wu Yihao asked excitedly.
Luo Peng looked disapprovingly at Wu Yihao and said to Cui Wenyan, "Has your classmate been reading too many novels? You should read less unrealistic stuff. We came here clinging to the train without spending money. We can’t do any of those advanced spells you mentioned, not even our ancestor could. Such powerful spirits probably haven’t been in this world for a long time."
Wu Yihao: "..." Why does it feel a bit sad? Clinging to trains. These days, even spirits are in such a poor state? And what’s with that disapproving look? How unfair! Aren’t the spirits in stories supposed to be powerful? How was I supposed to know there’s such a big gap between stories and reality?
Tianmiao, however, understood what Luo Peng meant by his last sentence. The powerful spirits capable of flying on clouds and traversing thousands of miles are long gone in this world. They’ve either perished, ascended to another world, or changed identities. As for what identity they’ve assumed...
After boarding the plane, Tianmiao put on an eye mask and began to sleep. Wu Yihao and Liang Bing also put on eye masks to sleep, but their masks had words on them: Wake me up for meals.
The group was seated in business class. Luo Peng, sitting by the window, curiously looked outside. It was the first time for both him and Bai Yue on a plane.
As the plane took off, Luo Peng widened his eyes, watching as the buildings outside grew smaller and smaller. Bai Yue also turned her head, staring intently out the window.
How amazing!
