The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 336 - 255: This... This Is the Buddha’s Son? So Terrifying
Yang An followed Zen Master Qing Nan out of the Mingxin Zen Courtyard.
It was early morning, and the sun had just begun to rise. Crimson sunlight spilled across the land, bathing the entirety of Great Virtue Temple in a golden, resplendent light and making every corner pulse with immense vitality. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Guang’an followed reverently behind the two of them.
"This is my new Attendant Monk."
Yang An introduced Guang’an to Zen Master Qing Nan.
’Since Guang’an has become my proxy, I not only need to keep him by my side, but helping him seize this opportunity is the same as seizing it for myself.’
’This is extremely useful for concealing my true status within Great Virtue Temple from Elder Zhuan Yu.’
As for Guang’an, he was just a lowly Gami, so Zen Master Qing Nan paid him no mind.
However, since he was the Attendant Monk of His Highness the Buddha Prince, Zen Master Qing Nan still offered him a smile and a nod by way of greeting.
Guang’an was flattered and astonished by Zen Master Qing Nan’s reaction.
’So it’s true! Becoming the Attendant Monk for His Highness the Buddha Prince really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Even a Zen Master is taking notice of me.’
’In the past, a Zen Master would never have paid any attention to a Gami. The difference in our status is as vast as the heavens and the earth.’
’I must seize this opportunity and do nothing to offend His Highness the Buddha Prince. To do so would be an unforgivable sin.’
Yang An and Zen Master Qing Nan walked side by side, with Guang’an trailing behind. Zen Master Qing Nan led the way as the three of them made their way through the streets of Great Virtue Temple.
The Zen Master conference was to be held in a square called the Golden Lotus Platform.
Because Great Virtue Temple was so vast, it took the trio nearly half an hour to arrive. They attracted a great deal of attention along the way.
Everyone was curious about the new Buddha Prince who had joined Great Virtue Temple. Whether they were monks, Gamis, protectors, or others, most had never laid eyes on him before.
When they learned that Guang’an, the one walking in the rear, was the Buddha Prince’s Attendant Monk, looks of envy instantly appeared on many faces.
What an incredible honor it must be to serve as the Buddha Prince’s Attendant Monk.
By the time the trio reached the Golden Lotus Platform, a large crowd, having already caught wind of the event, had gathered in the square.
This conference was being held jointly by several Zen Masters.
For the masses, the chance to listen to the scriptures and hear the Zen Masters preach was a rare and valuable opportunity.
Even so, most could only stand and watch quietly from the periphery, as they were not permitted to enter the inner section.
Those permitted to enter the inner section had to be protectors at the Visceral Stone level or higher, Abbots, or disciples from the Sacred Heart and Saint Buddha Institutes within the Disciple Temple.
The crowd gathered outside parted on their own accord, creating a path to welcome Yang An’s group inside.
As Yang An’s Attendant Monk, Guang’an—a mere Gami—was granted entry. At that moment, countless faces filled with envy.
Once inside, they saw that the inner and outer sections were completely separated, with numerous Scripture Banners arranged throughout the area.
Additionally, a number of monks stood guard between the two sections to prevent any undesirables from slipping in.
Not that anyone would have the gall to try, of course.
Yang An didn’t recognize most of the people who had already arrived in the inner section, but he did spot a familiar face or two.
It was none other than the Holy Child Ming Hui, the reincarnation of a Bodhisattva, who had entered Great Virtue Temple alongside him.
Hai Shu Bodhisattva had placed Ming Hui in the Saint Buddha Institute and given him the Buddhist name Guang Hui. As the most prestigious institute within the Disciple Temple, the Saint Buddha Institute was exclusively for reincarnated beings.
Because of this, Ming Hui had also been the center of much attention before Yang An’s arrival. But once Yang An appeared, all eyes instantly shifted to him.
Between the two—one a Holy Child who was the reincarnation of a Bodhisattva, the other the new Buddha Prince and a True Buddha Reincarnation—it was clear at a glance which of them held the superior status.
Zen Master Qing Nan escorted Yang An further in. While Guang’an, as Yang An’s Attendant Monk, was permitted into the inner section, this was as far as he could go. He could proceed no further and had to remain at the very edge of the area.
Yang An followed Zen Master Qing Nan all the way to the front, where a spot had been reserved for him. It was the position closest to where the Zen Masters would be giving their sermons.
As the Buddha’s Son, his status and the treatment he received were naturally unlike anyone else’s.
Yang An sat down, his expression serene. He paid no mind to the stares of those around him and quietly awaited the start of the conference.
Faint murmurs arose from behind him.
"Junior Brother Guang Hui, so that’s His Highness the Buddha Prince, the one who entered our Land of Great Virtue and Goodness with you, is it?"
A bald monk in a white robe with gold-trimmed sleeves and collar asked Guang Hui, his face filled with curiosity.
Judging by his attire, he was an Abbot at the Corpse Transformation Cultivation Level.
Given his seating arrangement next to Guang Hui, he too was a disciple of the Saint Buddha Institute and a reincarnated being.
The man’s Buddhist name was De Ben.
Guang Hui gave a slight nod, but as his eyes swept over Yang An at the front, a flicker of jealousy flashed through them before vanishing.
"Junior Brother, you are the reincarnation of Zhenyuan Bodhisattva. He is a Bodhisattva with genuine records kept here in our Great Virtue Temple, and those records state that Zhenyuan Bodhisattva was one of the most illustrious of all Bodhisattvas, not far beneath a Buddha.
I am certain that you, Junior Brother, will gain great enlightenment during this conference and achieve a breakthrough in your cultivation, becoming the envy of all."
