The Devil's Secretary
Chapter 322: I want to see her
Si Yena descended the stairs, dressed in a satin nightgown. Her long hair draped over her shoulder and her face held a hint of excitement at meeting an old friend, ’’I got tired waiting for you, Daisy. It took you so long,’’ She said, glancing at the person who was covered in black from head to toe.
Daisy raised her hand and took off the helmet from her head. Her face was completely white like a sheet of paper but her emotionless eyes looked at Si Yena as if she was looking at a dead body.
’’What?" Si Yena clutched her chest, ’’Must you look at me like I am the enemy? How long has it been since we last met properly? Um... To be honest, we recently did. We kept meeting everyday in Kingsley mansion but it was very inconvenient. I could not even talk to you. Being a rich old man’s trophy mistress is no joke...’’
She fanned herself, ’’He himself was a declining tree with no women who truly cared for him and an heir who eventually led to his death yet he had such high expectations from me,’’ She clicked her tongue, ’’Good that he is dead now. We can finally catch up without worries...’’
’’Where is she?" Daisy cut her off.
’’Oh, I must applaud you though. How did you even know that I would be here in Si Mansion? You know me so well! You came all the way from there to here...’’ Si Yena sighed, ’’But truth to be told, I knew you would find me here. And it’s good to see you did not put on a disguise before coming here. I could never recognize you with those...’’
’’Where is Angel?" Daisy moved in a blur and in the next moment, a gun was pointed at Si Yena’s forehead.
Si Yena froze.
Daisy held her stance, not budging an inch.
After a moment, Si Yena burst out in a peal of laughter pointing at the gun, ’’You know I have that child of yours with me yet you point your gun at me. Did you not consider how many bullets would go into her tiny body if you kill me here?"
Daisy’s hand trembled. The calmness she had built bit by bit since the incident at Diana’s place seemed to crumble inwardly. The entire way, she had prevented herself from overthinking but now as she stood in this eerie mansion that was enshrouded in darkness, a fear gripped at her heart. What if...?
’’But I don’t mind it. You have always been this high and mighty, haven’t you?" Si Yena crossed her arms in front of her chest as she chided, ’’I always hated this about you. You overshadowed me everywhere. You have such a common name but you always sat like an untouched rare flower in the wilderness. But now, it feels like a breath of fresh air actually.’’
’’I want to see her,’’ Anything the woman said, anything she did, barely got through Daisy, ’’Take me to her...’’
’’I am impressed with you this time. I really never have seen you acting without any backup but surprisingly, even Daisy Chen would walk into dangers unprepared. Neither you brought your men, nor you reached out to your contacts. You walked in here all alone because of that child...’’
’’Show me how she is doing, Si Yena or else I would take you down with me!" Daisy’s bloodshot eyes shot towards her.
Si Yena paused for a brief moment before making a face, ’’No fun!" She clapped her hands.
At her signal, there were some movements in the floor above. Chen Lina slowly walked out from one of the rooms standing near the hall. One of her hands gripped Angel’s wrist. The little girl walked slowly with her stubby legs, sucking a thumb in her mouth.
When Daisy saw Chen Lina, her eyes narrowed.
Daisy’s figure was covered by a pillar so from where Angel was, she could not really see her face but the little girl stood on her tippy toes and called out to her as if she knew it was her, ’’...Mommy...? Mommy...’’
Tears rolled down Daisy’s cheeks.
’’Wuwu...’’ Suddenly, the girl burst into tears.
Daisy’s eyes widened as she watched Chen Lina pushing the little girl from the floor above and then catching her by her wrist, letting her swing in the air.
"Don’t...’’ Daisy gasped, ’’Don’t...’’
The little girl’s heart-wrenching cries echoed in the empty mansion. And Daisy’s heart crumbled slowly.
’’Ah, this woman is a little naughty!" Si Yena shot Chen Lina a stare, ’’We have had yet to catchup and you are already causing troubles.’’
’’Catch up then,’’ Chen Lina smiled, ’’I will let you both do it peacefully. After you are done with her, it will be my turn to avenge myself,’’ She pulled Angel back to the floor. Picking up the crying child roughly, she walked into the room again.
Daisy staggered.
’’Don’t worry. She is a petty one, always trying to get back at you. But with me here, how can I let you be wronged?" Si Yena shook her head, ’’Don’t you see how well I treat your daughter? The room where she is kept is my childhood room. You still remember all the paths of this mansion so you should be aware of this too. That room was probably the only one that wasn’t affected by the fire. I have kept her there and fed her well... Shouldn’t you feel grateful by now?"
Daisy let out a shaky breath, ’’Grateful?’’ she whispered, turning to look at the woman, ’’Are you grateful that I haven’t killed you yet?"
Si Yena raised an eyebrow and looked Daisy straight in the eyes, ’’A few years ago, I would have trembled if you said such words to me. But now, look at me and say. Do you think I am afraid of death?" She smiled a little, ’’Am I afraid of anything?"
Daisy put her gun away. Its presence is no more than an accessory at this point, ’’Why are you doing this...?" she paused for a moment before continuing, ’’Why must you do this, Yena?"
