The Devil's Secretary
Chapter 326: Daddy is fine
Si Yena waved her hand, ’’What’s the rush? Nobody is running away.’’
Chen Lina was far from convinced, ’’You don’t know these people and I don’t trust them. No matter how capable you are, I won’t be able to sit in peace until I have what I desire in my hand... Now, make her kneel!" She pointed a finger at Daisy.
"Are you ordering me now?" Si Yena raised an eyebrow.
Chen Lina paused. After a moment of hesitation, she held the file in her hand close and looked at Si Yena, ’’I need the Chen Corporations for myself and I won’t back down from it. Today, she must transfer her shares to me.’’
’’Come here,’’ Si Yena patted the chair next to her, ’’I know what I have promised you and nobody can stop you from getting that. But where is the fun in being so hasty? I will let you watch a good show!"
Just the sound of it was ominous.
Daisy looked at Ryle who happened to be looking at her already.
When their eyes met, Ryle lowered his gaze slightly, his fingers moving in his sleeves.
’’Lower it to the floor!"
At Si Yena’s order, the glass enclosure in which Angel was kept was slowly lowered to the floor.
The girl had been initially playing with soft toys kept there.
But by this point, her entire small face had turned red from crying endlessly.
Seeing Ryle being beaten by people, she had burst into tears already.
And by now, she was knocking on every glass wall, expecting it to open up like a door.
As they lowered the enclosure, the little girl inside it staggered and landed on her bottom.
Then, she cried again, raising both her hands to wipe her tears.
Ryle had lived for way too long and experienced quite a long and difficult life.
When he fixed one thing, another thing went wrong. It was as if God had chosen him to test human endurance.
Over time, he stopped being affected by these things. He detached himself from people, from emotions and from every mortal thing that caused an ache in his heart.
He laughed too much and became way too playful.
So, when one looked at him from a distance, they would label him as a heartless man or a playboy or this and that and move on.
Nobody having any expectations from him hurt him way less.
A life so organized and problematic should have saved him from any more emotional hassle.
But as he watched the little girl crying, screaming out to him from inside that enclosed space, he felt feral emotions. The urge to rip everybody who stood in his way apart and run up to the girl.
His heart did not break at once. Rather, it felt like someone was tearing the flesh off it, piece by piece.
’’You can take her out of it now,’’ Si Yena smiled.
This time, when Ryle walked, nobody blocked his path.
In no time, the man had reached the little girl, leaving a trail of blood on the floor behind him as he walked.
Once he stood in front of Angel, he knelt down and pressed a palm on the glass wall, against hers, ’’Calm down... Stop crying, little princess...’’
The little girl looked at him dumbly, mouth opened wide. However, at the sight of the blood on him, she ended up bawling again.
Ryle patted the glass wall lightly twice, ’’Daddy is fine...’’ he murmured, ’’I will protect you,’’ the latter half was more of an oath, to her and to himself.
Seeing his movements, the girl stopped crying a little and rather observed the man who was circling around the glass enclosure.
’’Ah, my bad! I forgot to tell you. It has no door at all. You will find it a little difficult...’’
Si Yena’s words trailed off when Ryle stood near one glass wall.
Angel had backed into the opposite corner under his guidance.
Without any warning, Ryle pulled out a gun from his pocket.
He squatted and knocked roughly on the lower edge of the glass wall.
A fist sized hole appeared on the lower edge as the glass broke from one corner.
’’Don’t come here... Stay back, little princess...’’ Ryle repeated these words over and over again in soft whispers to Angel.
And as if she could understand all his commands, she complied.
Ryle gritted his teeth and thrust his hand inside the fist-sized hole. The broken glass scraped up to his forearm but he still pushed his hand further.
As he pushed his hand further inside, the hole got bigger and bigger as more and more small glass shards broke from the corner.
Ryle only stopped once his hand was elbow-in inside the glass enclosure.
The enclosure was completely made of glass but each glass wall was surrounded by a thin frame.
Ryle reached out to the frame and pushed it from inside.
’’Daddy.. Daddy... blood...’’ Little Angel started crying again as she watched the man’s blood soaking up the small soft toys lying on the ground.
’’It’s okay...’’ Ryle smiled, putting more stress on the frame, ’’Close your eyes...’’ he said.
But the girl remained frozen in shock and did not dare to move. She did not even blink.
’’If you listen to me, then I will be able to hold you quicker.’’
The girl obediently closed her eyes.
Drops of tears rolled down Daisy’s cheeks but she did not budge an inch from where she stood.
’’A little heartless, aren’t you?" Si Yena sighed, ’’You stood aside just like this when I had begged you for help back then while they were killing my bodyguard and then dragging me away. Now you are still standing just like that while this bastard is saving a bastard that isn’t even his. Even though I stopped you, you still did not put much of a fight... ’’
Daisy did not say anything, her back remained facing towards them as she witnessed the scene on the ground floor, her eyes bloodied.
At this moment, a ’crash’ sounded.
