Nobody knew what Ryle was thinking but they followed his words and rushed back to the hospital right away.

Aunty Lu and Locke assumed that the man wanted to interrogate Ivy but they were afraid of their little master being disappointed again.

Practically, Ivy had strayed away from her her mother for far too long to have any real clues that would help them. But they didn’t have the nerve to say that to Ryle and discourage the man.

However, throughout the way, Daisy’s face was solemn. Ryle held her hand the entire way and she could feel the cold sweat on his palm.

Usually, Ryle had an iron grip. When he held her, he held her firmly as if his hand was latched onto hers permanently.

But at that moment, she could feel his hands shiver and that made Daisy look at the man.

Ryle wasn’t looking at her at all, his gaze seemed distant, but there was a visible nervousness in his eyes.

Daisy covered his hand with her other hand.

The man looked up at her.

"It will be fine..." she whispered.

Ryle gave her a small nod, a hint of hope rising in his eyes.

Daisy pushed Ryle’s wheelchair through the pediatric wing. Inside the private room, the only sound was the steady beep-beep of the heart monitor.

Little Angel was fast asleep. Her cheeks finally had a bit of healthy pink color, and her small chest rose and fell evenly. Diana sat by the bed, gently stroking the girl’s blonde hair that looked exactly like hers.

As the door clicked shut, Diana looked up.

Relief washed over her tired face when she saw Daisy and Ryle together.

She stood up quietly and tiptoed over to them so she wouldn’t wake the baby.

"She just fell asleep a few minutes ago," Diana whispered.

She gave Daisy a warm smile, but then her eyes flickered toward the doorway, "Wait, where is Ivy? Didn’t she go with you"

That simple question made the entire room freeze.

Daisy’s hands tightened on the handles of the wheelchair. Ryle, who had been looking at Angel, froze.

His gaze snapped to Diana as a hint of panic crossed his eyes, "Where is Ivy?"

Diana was caught off guard for a moment, both by Ryle’s question and the fact that they didn’t know where Ivy was, "We... we don’t know. I was looking after Angel so I had Maxim call her for help. But we couldn’t get in touch with her. I hadn’t seen her after Daisy left so I thought it was possible she went with Daisy to... loof for you."

Diana paused a bit at the last part.

Ryle’s brows tugged together. For a moment, the man seemed angry at himself.

"Maxim had a surgery so he left early but Ivy isn’t back yet so..."

The temperature in the room seemed to drop to zero.

"Ryle... Daisy..." Diana’s eyes turned sharp, "What’s wrong?"

Before Ryle or Daisy could say a word, a choked sob came from the back of the room.

"I... Is it because of me?" Aunty Lu didn’t know what Ryle was doing but just one look at the man’s face was enough to tell her that he was not happy with current situation, "I had come to the hospital to look for you. When Ivy told me of your whereabouts, I confronted her5..."

"What exactly happened...?" Daisy questioned.

After a beat, Aunty Lu explained everything.

She had gotten the hints about this matter for so long and since then, she hadn’t treated Ivy well because of what her mother had done.

But in the current situation when Ryle had ended up in wheelchair and the sister he found out coil;ld be a fake, Aunty Lu lost her composure and snapped at Ivy.

Not only did she tell her about her mother’s connection to the Kingsley Family, Aunty Lu snapped at the girl and told her that her mother was the person who pushed Ryle’s mother and sister to an early grave.

’You act like you are so grateful to the Little Master and Daisy but if you are anything different from your mother, just leave their side forever. And stay far away from them...’ Aunty Lu had warned.

Daisy felt a sick wave of dread wash over her.

Both the Chen sisters had turned a bit pale. Perhasps it was fate for them, but both Diana and Daisy were close to Ivy and over the years, they have come to know her well.

O0ne thing that Ivy was scared of the most was becoming a burden to anyone.

And in the current situation where her entire identity had flipped over, one couldn’t say what she must be feeling like.

Ryle closed his eyes, a hint of exhaustion washing over hisfeatures.

Aunty looked at everyone before looking at the man, "Li... Little Master..."

"Pack your bags and leave."

Aunty Lu looked at Ryle in disbelief, "I was harsh but what did I do wrong, Little Master? If not for that girl’s mother, your whole life would not have been ruined! Maybe the madam would still be around and little miss... And now, just because I confronted her, you want to send me away!"

"You kept the truth from me," Ryle’s eyes sharpened like blades, "Then, you made assumptions on your own. You served my mother and showed her kindness is the only reason I’m asking you to leave right now. Pray to all Gods that Ivy is unharmed."

"But..." Aunty Lu looked at Ryle in disbelief as tears rolled down her cheeks, "Why would you care about that girl?"

"She is Raelynn."

...

Inside a private office room.

Caleb Astor sat behind his massive work desk. The evening light filtered through the huge glass windows, but he looked completely unsettled.

Ever since that day at the hospital, when Daisy had looked at him with those knowing eyes and told him, "Make sure to come back. We have things to discuss," his mind had been running to places he was avoiding for years.

He had been waiting for her to call. But days had passed, and she hadn’t said a single word.

To avoid the anxious feeling eating away at his stomach, Caleb had buried himself in work. But today, he couldn’t take it anymore. Yet, when he came out, there was no news of Daisy.

There was a ’knock’ on the door and his secretary walked in, holding a thin folder.

Caleb looked up, his eyes bloodshot, "Are you sure there hasn’t been any word from Miss Chen yet?"

The secretary bowed his head, "No, Mr. Astor. There has been absolutely no contact from Miss Chen."

Caleb closed his eyes, letting out a long sigh.

"Oh.. but..." the secretary suddenly remembered something.

He stepped towards the desk and pulled out an unmarked envelope from under the folder, "We received this anonymously some time ago. It did not look as significant but."

Caleb reached across the desk and grabbed the envelope. He tore the top of the envelope open and pulled out the papers inside.

There were a few papers and photographs bound together. By the time Caleb flipped to the last page, his hands trembled, "This... impossible! It’s impossible!"

"Boss..." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Call Miss Chen right now!"
