The Enhanced Doctor
Chapter 977: All Are Relieved
(Thanks to Feng for the monthly ticket encouragement)
"Everyone, put on your protective clothing before entering the treatment room. Let my colleague and me handle it first."
Liu Banxia said to the nurses who rushed over.
His words startled the nurse, even though Liu Banxia didn’t say anything else, it was clear that this patient’s condition was a bit complex.
"So, do you want to help in the treatment room?" Liu Banxia asked the paramedic.
"Director Liu, since I’m already here, it’s already like this anyway. I’ll contact the driver and have him take care of the ambulance," the paramedic replied.
Liu Banxia nodded and began to prepare.
When admitting patients like these, protection must be in place. Especially now that there’s blood on the patient’s face and body, making it more troublesome to handle.
After handling this patient in the treatment room, this place needs to be temporarily quarantined. Without proper disinfection, the next patient cannot be admitted.
You can’t save others and neglect the safety of yourself and other medical staff. Otherwise, you might think there’s no problem and then admit other patients, which could lead to cross-infection.
Once Liu Banxia was ready, two nurses dressed in protective clothing also came in from outside.
"Don’t be nervous; it’s not as terrible as it seems. My protection level is even lower than yours, but it’s still okay," Liu Banxia said with a smile.
"As long as we keep these blood stains from contaminating cuts, mouths, noses, or other parts of our bodies, there won’t be a problem. However, I’ll do the main operations, and you just need to assist me."
"Here, I’ve already cut open his clothes. Put these clothes in a bag and seal it. Let me check his vitals first, hmm... heart and lung sounds are fine, and the abdomen is also soft."
"That’s good news; we can judge the patient’s injuries... Cui Jia, why aren’t you on stage and came here instead?"
"Teacher Liu, we’re quite flexible, and there aren’t any other patients being brought in at the moment," said Cui Jia, wearing protective clothing.
"Though you’re being proactive, it might not necessarily earn extra points. But since you’re here, I can’t have you just watching. Draw some blood from the patient. He is an HIV carrier," Liu Banxia said.
"The patient’s injuries are most likely due to a laceration on his head. I’ll do a preliminary debridement first. It’s a necessary process because of the patient’s special condition."
"Director Liu, I’ve finished making contact. Is there anything you need me to do?" the paramedic asked at this moment.
"Just watch us work. I actually called you in to steady you. Why was this one brought in so late?" Liu Banxia asked.
"He fell down a slope, and initially, people didn’t notice. It wasn’t until he woke up and shouted loudly that he got noticed," the paramedic said.
"I also just contacted the scene; two firefighters had close contact with him, and they will be disinfected and tested later. Apparently, he also saved two people, but the current information is somewhat messy."
"How many vehicles were involved in this crash? Why is it so serious?" Liu Banxia continued to ask.
"I didn’t have time to see how many cars, but there were a lot," the paramedic said.
"It started with a rear-end collision. The people in the two cars were so bold, they didn’t set up warning signs and argued on the highway, then a secondary accident occurred."
"At night, everyone’s attention wasn’t very focused, apparently, after that crash, a third accident happened. Anyway, there was a long line of cars, with four confirmed dead at the scene, and the total number of injured hasn’t been counted yet."
"Really, they act as if their lives are too long, thinking they had a fender-bender in the city that they can argue over," Liu Banxia couldn’t help but complain.
We had discussed this matter recently; the last time it was a delivery guy disobeying traffic rules that caused a crash, resulting in a pedestrian becoming brain dead.
This time? What a horrific accident, who knows how many people will be lost.
At the scene, plus the two who just died at the emergency center, and those sent to other hospitals. Such a huge accident happened just because a minor incident wasn’t handled with safety.
Maybe they figured out at the time whose fault it was. And then? Many of them had no chance for regret.
"Teacher Liu, the blood collection is complete," Cui Jia said at that moment.
"Be careful to send it to the laboratory, and have them handle it thoroughly," Liu Banxia instructed.
"I’m almost done here. You check on the CT area and see how it’s going, we need to send him for a CT scan. The wound is over 2 centimeters deep and might be bleeding,"
Cui Jia nodded, placing the collected blood into a container and running off to deliver it for testing.
"Currently, the vital signs seem stable, just the blood pressure is a bit high. There are too many patients today, the CT will still take a while," Liu Banxia said.
"You two are also doing a great job. Please help clean up here, I need to check outside, some injured haven’t been attended to yet. If he has any issues, call me again."
The two nurses nodded, realizing this task was quite significant. Usually, at least one intern doctor would be assigned to stand by on-site.
"How’s it outside?" Liu Banxia asked as he walked out.
"Are you done over there? I still have one that needs to be on the table. Just finished the CT, looks like it’s mesenteric hemorrhage." Shi Lei replied.
"Alright, you take him away, I’ll handle the rest." Liu Banxia nodded.
The remaining tasks aren’t that easy either; there are still quite a few patients waiting for admission. After triage, they’ve been categorized into the second and third echelon.
Counting the one Shi Lei needs to operate on, there might be at least six operations taking place simultaneously. Among them, at least three are major surgeries. This is the emergency center operating at full capacity.
Now even Xu Yino and the others have to manage independently, performing preliminary treatments for some patients before the attending doctor goes over. Currently, he’s the only one left among doctors who can handle affairs.
At this moment, quite a few family members rushed over from outside, and Liu Banxia let the nurses lead them to the side to register first, then check which patient they are related to.
Some patients don’t even have clear identities. The paramedics who brought them might have some information.
"Teacher Liu, the blood samples have been sent for testing." Cui Jia ran over again.
"Good, check the situation over at CT, then send the patient over." Liu Banxia nodded.
Cui Jia nodded, then dashed over to the CT area again.
"You all did quite well, help with the debridement first, I’ll handle admissions one by one." Liu Banxia said.
"Banxia, how’s the situation?" Zhou Shuwen’s voice came from behind.
"Chief Director, Director, you’ve come over. Currently, all critical patients are sent to the operating room for resuscitation. A few are still waiting for results and might need surgery." Liu Banxia quickly said.
"These are the patients I’m planning to check, and there’s also an HIV carrier currently under observation in the disposal room. Hit his head, temporarily unconscious, waiting for CT."
Listening to his words, Zhou Shuwen and Chen Zhenxing exchanged a glance.
"You should also go to the operating room to help, leave the rest to us." Zhou Shuwen said.
"Director, I can’t, I had a drink during dinner. How about you take a round in the operating room?" Liu Banxia said.
Zhou Shuwen gave him a helpless look, "Alright then, Chief Director Li will be over later, he’ll go directly to the operating room, and Director Xu will be here too."
"You informed the others but not us? But you handled it quite well; at least the first batch of critical patients could be properly managed. Let’s not talk about it; I’ll go up and take a look around first."
"I was bringing a kid from our park over for an appendectomy, just happened to be here." Liu Banxia said helplessly.
"Alright, you handle the patient’s examination, I’ll take care of the rest." Chen Zhenxing nodded with a smile.
This major car accident is truly a severe test for the emergency center, but they pulled through.
He’s genuinely pleased because the emergency center now really serves its purpose. There were indeed many patients matched to the emergency center this time, otherwise, they wouldn’t have called him.
At the time, he was quite puzzled, wondering how could such a significant matter not be reported to him. So daring?
Now he understands, because the handling was quite good, there’s no need for him to worry too much.
Now with the Chief Director personally overseeing, Liu Banxia feels much more relaxed. He knows that Zhou Shuwen walking around the upper operating room will reduce a lot of pressure on Xu Yino and the rest.
Even some thoracoabdominal surgeries, once Li Mingwu arrives, can be managed well.
His work isn’t easy either; he needs to check every patient. Even if it’s just the initial diagnosis, it needs to be meticulous.
Because these are car accident patients, some conditions might not show immediately, later requiring instrument checks to cooperate.
"Teacher Liu, the patient from the disposal room just finished the CT, subdural hematoma." Liu Banxia was still examining the patient when Cui Jia ran over.
"It’s troublesome, notify the neurosurgery doctor, clearly relay the patient’s situation to them, and the operating room also needs explanation. Leave this to you; I still need to examine the patient." Liu Banxia said.
"Okay." Cui Jia nodded enthusiastically.
This is a special patient, and the treatment process is somewhat unique. Cui Jia is quite excited now, not minding the slight danger involved.
Liu Banxia wiped the sweat from his forehead; the alcohol in his system should have almost metabolized by now. But there’s no need to run to the operating room again, he doesn’t have to show off everywhere.
The emergency center’s capability is commendable; now that the small team hadn’t called him, it proves they can handle it entirely. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
That’s enough, and he’s pleased.
He still needs to examine the patient, having been so busy he forgot to check how many rewards he received. Probably not much, as they’re quite simple tasks.
