The Enhanced Doctor
Chapter 984: Liu Banxia "Spills the Beans
(Thanks to Pacific Wolf and cj2001 for the monthly ticket encouragement)
"Fellow students, I’m a bit older than you and have been through the entire learning phase at school. All I can give you here is my blessing, hoping that in the future you all become qualified doctors."
Su Wenhao wrapped things up, and Liu Banxia walked back to the podium again.
"You all saw, right? This is what a good student looks like, at least knows how to praise me. But there have been too many compliments for me lately, and frankly, I don’t really accept their favor." Liu Banxia said with a smile.
"We just discussed how tough and tiring it is to study medicine, but also why we enter this circle without complaints."
"Even now, I still think studying medicine is tiring. But in every profession, who isn’t tired? Every industry has its pain points; it’s just because we don’t understand them that we haven’t encountered them."
"Okay, we can turn the page on these discussions. In the future, we will diagnose many cases every day, providing targeted treatment plans once diagnosed. We can’t keep dwelling on the success of the previous case."
"I’m now taking over the diagnosis, facing so many freshmen. Sorry to call you fellow students like Su Wenhao did, or else Xu Yino will definitely mock me, saying I’m an old cucumber painted green, pretending to be youthful here."
The students below laughed again; they’re somewhat familiar with Liu Banxia’s style now. Although the topics are deep, they help lighten the mood.
"Speaking of diagnosis, I’m a semi-expert. Even though I’m a surgeon, many times the distinction between internal and external is quite blurred for doctors." Liu Banxia continued.
"When diagnosing, we must be extra careful and pay attention to every detail provided by the patient."
"Like thrombosis, some say thrombosis is really not a good thing, often causing strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary embolism, sending off a continuous combo."
"But in some cases, a thrombosis can help seal the crack in a blood vessel, reducing blood loss. How can we determine if someone has that kind of moving thrombosis in their blood vessels?"
"It’s simple; if the thrombosis blocks the cardiovascular system, we might have occurrences of waking up from sleep. If it stays in the cerebral blood vessels, we might feel dizzy when lying down or have drooling during sleep."
"Isn’t this a simple judgment? Be more enthusiastic; why so reserved? I don’t believe you’ve been at school for so long and haven’t been curious enough to flip through a book or watch the buzz."
Upon hearing his words, the students responded. Initially scattered, but with his gestures, their responses finally formed a chorus.
Seeing the students’ happy expressions below, Xu Yino sighed. They’re like lost lambs, deceived by the big devil.
"Hehehe..."
After Liu Banxia lowered his hand, he laughed mischievously.
"There are many reasons for waking up suddenly during sleep, thrombosis in the cardiovascular system is just one cause, it could also be due to low calcium levels, mental stress, or excessive pressure." Liu Banxia said with a smiling face.
"As for dizziness, there are even more causes: ear crystal disease, hypertension, low blood sugar, and so on. Salivating is even more interesting; why can’t it be because of incorrect sleep posture, pressing on the cheek?"
"Oh classmates, you need to be careful, you’ve got to develop the habit of being attentive. We’re not detectives, but when diagnosing patients, we’re solving mysteries, and the actual culprit is the illness."
"With your limited medical knowledge now, you may be misled by me. Once you have amassed some knowledge, you could still be unintentionally misled by patients."
"How do we screen out useful information during diagnosis? It’s just like I’m diagnosing you now, diagnosing how to study well."
"Su Wenhao spoke well earlier; these eight years of study are very important. It enriches your theoretical knowledge and lays a solid foundation for your medical career."
"Whether it’s internal medicine, surgery, or imaging, our foundation is crucial. By learning fundamental knowledge, we can grasp medical conditions, or else it’s just blind guesswork."
"Or you could opt for convenience, like ordinary folks, list all symptoms, and look them up online. There’s always one that matches, maybe even cancer to start with."
"This is also the diagnostic outcome for you; while at school, mastering fundamental knowledge is essential. It shouldn’t be superficial—only useful during exams. It should be actively learned and applied in your future professional life."
"Here today, I want to say something extra because I’m a surgeon. A surgeon must master some basics of diagnostics, and we also need to grasp the fundamentals specific to surgeons."
"A competent surgeon can help patients tackle the pain within limited conditions. A good surgeon can shorten the process, doing what we often call fast surgery."
"To perform surgery quickly, many factors are involved. First off, we need nimble hands. Second, we require a high degree of understanding of imaging knowledge, so we can have a clear position on what needs to be removed before the surgery."
"The last point, and a very important one, is that we need to familiarize ourselves with the structure of the human body. How do we do that? It’s through anatomy. Just imagining or looking at models won’t do; the process of learning anatomy is what truly matters."
"Today, I’ve brought a little gift for you all. You might think it’s nothing special, but in my heart, it’s someone I need to thank for the rest of my life."
Shi Lei frowned slightly, helplessly glancing at Liu Banxia. He knew he was going to be introduced, but it felt a bit too sentimental.
"Originally, I had an undergraduate degree, and during my standard post-training at the second hospital, due to poor performance and lack of competitiveness, I received relatively fewer resources." Liu Banxia continued.
"So I had a lot more free time, which allowed me to learn the Sunflower Manual that doesn’t require self-castration, helping me soar high."
"And the creator of this Sunflower Manual that doesn’t require self-castration is the elder man sitting next to them, Shi Lei. He was my mentor during my post-training and is also the man about to teach some of you students Systematic Anatomy."
Shi Lei felt quite helpless; Liu Banxia promised to back him up, but he didn’t expect him to introduce him so boldly. He also didn’t expect him to bring up this Sunflower Manual involving castration.
And the students below? Now their spirits were completely stirred up by Liu Banxia.
Many people from other provinces and cities didn’t even know what Liu Banxia did, and only got some basic information before knowing about the lecture.
Now, his position and participation in those emergency rescues and major surgeries—each achievement is something everyone strives for but may not achieve.
Now it’s something amazing—could this be the man behind Director Liu?
"Don’t listen to Director Liu’s nonsense; you have to choose what to believe from what he says. Otherwise, why are Xu Yino and they often at odds with him? He gets so ruthless he even tricks himself." Shi Lei said.
The students below started laughing; indeed, Director Liu had a bit of a mischievous side.
Zhou Zhiyong and Director Xia found it quite amusing; at least today’s lecture was effective. To be able to motivate the students is a success.
"It’s Dr. Shi’s usual modesty; I’ve brought some secret manuals today too. Xu Yino, hurry up, can’t just bring the bag for nothing." Liu Banxia said.
Xu Yino was stunned for a moment, thinking Liu Banxia’s bag only had a phone and keys.
He took the bag and opened it; Liu Banxia took out a notebook from inside, and Shi Lei looked at him in surprise.
"This is my martial arts manual; it’s definitely above the Nine Yin Manual and Sunflower Manual." Liu Banxia shook it and then opened the notebook.
"Students close by should be able to see some of it. What’s on it, in fact, are notes made by Dr. Shi. This notebook is from his student days, quite some years ago."
"You can clearly see there are some drawings on it. These drawings aren’t made by Dr. Shi out of boredom during class but are anatomical diagrams corresponding to the notes."
"There are thirteen notebooks like this one. Some are records made by Dr. Shi after participating in related surgeries; they’re also his insights. He would sketch the surgical position based on the actual situation of the patient."
Zhou Zhiyong was stunned; he knew Shi Lei was Zhou Shuwen’s proud student, but he didn’t expect Shi Lei to be so meticulous.
"When did you find these? I didn’t even know where I put them." Shi Lei asked curiously.
"During the second year of training, I saw them when playing in your dorm. At the time, I carried a pile of books, and the notebook was stuck in there." Liu Banxia said.
"I figured, that’s why you kept coming over. I just thought you were freeloading food, turned out you were after these." Shi Lei said with a wry smile.
"But it’s not as amazing as he says; nowadays, our anatomical diagrams are much clearer, far better than the ones I drew."
"Principal Zhou, Chief Director Zhou has two good students," Director Xia remarked.
"Well... Shuwen has this kind of character; he’d rather not take anyone unless he’s satisfied enough to mentor." Zhou Zhiyong said.
If Liu Banxia hadn’t "disclosed" today, even Zhou Zhiyong wouldn’t have known Shi Lei’s skills. No wonder Zhou Shuwen made such recommendations; it’s based on understanding.
Shi Lei as the lecturer of this course is certainly not an issue. Liu Banxia did a good job slipping in this personal stash; some skills just shouldn’t be hidden but need to be showcased.
