Chapter 122: Chapter 120: Next Time for Sure

The High Priest’s Death Blessing didn’t get a chance to shine—it was instantly suppressed by the suddenly-appearing Judgment Priest.

Organizing gangs, trafficking illegal drugs, growing forbidden herbs, suspicious activities like learning sect magic, possibly joined a sect...

With all these buffs stacked together, not just Hilia—even Vasily, who showed up, had a spectacular expression on his face.

Hilia had expected a fierce battle, but now she breathed a sigh of relief. After Vasily subdued the High Priest, she waved at him: "Good afternoon, Grandpa Vasily!"

"Hilia, well done!" Vasily stroked his beard and laughed heartily.

But he was a little puzzled inside.

In less than half a year, Hilia has visited three places and managed to dethrone three High Priests.

This efficiency is a bit much, isn’t it?

Even the Law Enforcement Court folks responsible for these matters aren’t this outrageous.

Vasily decided he’d put some pressure on Law Enforcement Court and the Oath and Law Knight Order when he got back—ask them how they’ve been patrolling for so long and still missed so many clergy breaking the rules. Can’t let the Judgement Court be mocked.

"This sinner’s way more severe than the last two. With all this pearl rosemary, death penalty’s too cheap for him."

As he spoke, he glanced at Winter beside him, sizing him up from top to bottom.

Winter immediately said, "Hello, Judgment Priest from the Holy Court. I’m Winter, Lord of Frost Town. After Miss Hilia reported there was a pearl rosemary plantation here, I came along to help her investigate."

Seeing how quickly the High Priest got KO’d, Winter was extremely glad he’d sided with Hilia earlier.

Now with Hilia not mentioning him as an accomplice or anything, he’d dodged being casually detained by Vasily.

Hilia glanced at Winter thoughtfully, feeling he wasn’t exactly innocent either.

But the evidence all pointed at the High Priest—it didn’t implicate Winter much.

The guy was cautious—not leaving any leverage at the High Priest’s place—after all, they were more rivals than partners.

After thinking it over, Hilia chose not to ask Vasily to interrogate him as well.

Fair enough—the guy did let her flex yesterday, plus she broke his heavy greatsword he eats with.

Forget it, since he knows which way the wind blows, she’ll let it go for now.

Hilia said meaningfully, "This High Priest is just awful. Lord Winter, I know you used to be limited by his strength and authority, so you didn’t dare speak up—but now he’s been arrested, you don’t need to worry about breaking the law if you act. Remember, after we leave, do your best to crack down on crimes!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Winter nodded furiously, "I will, I will!"

No way he’s promising ’next time’. Not worth the risk.

The Oath and Law Knights sealed off the entire plantation, processing the illegal plants and slaves inside, while Hilia and Winter followed Vasily to the Divine Hall, watching him direct the Knights and Assistant Priests to fetch all the High Priest’s stuff.

"This place is quite far from Huijin City and is under Northern Border City’s jurisdiction. Technically, we shouldn’t be bypassing them for the arrest. It’s just because this Priest was trafficking Water of Bewitching and pearl rosemary that we could cut the red tape and act first."

Vasily said this, then paused and turned to Hilia: "Hilia, tell me—how did you manage to come all the way from Huijin City to such a remote spot?"

Hilia said, "I came with my friend. Her family’s from here, but her parents were killed by the gang under the High Priest’s control. As her friend, I had to help her avenge them—so I gathered evidence of the High Priest’s crimes, then called you in to clean him up!"

Vasily nodded, then suddenly asked, "This Priest’s got a gang called Flame Sun Association—they handle all his dirty work and sales of Water of Bewitching. I heard their leaders died last night. Do you know anything about that?"

Hilia nodded, "Yes, really grateful to that mysterious mage who helped. Without him, I couldn’t have found the plantation today."

Vasily half-smiled: "Oh? What’s your relationship with him?"

"Not close." Hilia replied decisively.

Vasily neither agreed nor disagreed. After watching people work for a bit, he finally said, "Hilia, as the Holy Daughter, kill less. Killing stains your soul red—you’ll lose your qualification as Holy Daughter."

"I’ll remember." Hilia nodded solemnly.

Try not to kill—if it has to be done, borrow someone else’s hands. Hilia thought.

The Holy Daughter must have the right qualities: kindness, purity, affinity, talent, Divine Contract—not one can be missing.

Purity is the hardest to keep. If you’re not careful, it gets tainted.

"As long as you remember. I’ll handle everything here—you do what you need, or wait and head back with us."

"No thanks, I still have other things to do."

Hilia said goodbye to Vasily and set off to return.

She couldn’t be bothered to wait for Vasily and crew to wrap everything up.

Just sorting evidence, cross-checking files, arranging follow-up, etc....it takes ages.

She got Benovia to drop her off here on her way; but heading back...

Hilia grabbed her beloved Flying Broom, opened the map on her wristband, checked the direction, and blasted straight off.

"At my speed, I only need to travel non-stop for two days to get back to Huijin...WAAAH NOOO!!!"

The girl’s confident words ended in a shrill scream.

Rose couldn’t stand her slow as molasses flying speed, so he kicked in a super nitro acceleration for her.

"Dragging your feet, wasting time—if you’re gonna spend ages on the road, you might as well stay back and meditate for two days!"

...

Evening, outside Huijin City—Hilia’s legs were shaking as she clung to a nearby tree, looking at the brilliantly-lit city ahead. Only then did some color return to her pale face.

"I...I survived..."

She could barely speak without her tongue tying up.

Rose’s forced acceleration on the Flying Device was no different from riding a roller coaster.

Can you imagine what riding a roller coaster for four or five hours feels like?!

The girl screamed in her heart. Rose retorted, "A roller coaster flips up and down, left and right. I flew straight ahead, barely turned, didn’t do any fancy moves—don’t compare, okay?"

Hilia pouted miserably, "I really, truly feel like I’m riding a roller coaster...I just can’t help it, even after so many rides, I can’t adapt to flying that fast..."

"No problem, just get a few more practice runs in."

With that, Rose tried to make Hilia take off again.

Hilia’s face went ghostly. "No—please, Lord Rose, don’t! If I fly any farther, it’s a no-fly zone ahead—they’ll shoot me down!"

"Relax, I’ve played plenty of flying racing games. My skills are top notch—not a chance you’ll get shot down."

Pushing Hilia along with spiritual power was pretty much like playing a game—a third-person perspective, dodging freely. The only difference is swapping keyboard and mouse for just thinking about it.

"No no no! If I get caught, I’ll lose my Holy Daughter qualification!"

"It’s not that strict."

"They’ll fine me. Anything that costs my gold coins—I will not do!"

"..."

Fine, whatever.
