The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 147 - 145: Even Among Tier Two, There Are Gaps
"Hey, Qiosen, are we really going to cross the barricade and enter the searchlight area?"
"Adonis, we have already crossed the barricade, and we’re approaching the Golden Coast. Besides, just now, we teamed up and killed a strong Tier Two demon."
Qiosen and Adonis, after upgrading their magic puppets last night, feeling the smooth operation, decided it was time for some serious action.
So they agreed and proposed to the Mercenary Corps today to delve deep into the Lost Lighthouse, entering the searchlight area.
And were unceremoniously rejected by the leader.
"The searchlight area is filled with Tier Two demons, too many to count. If you want to go courting death, go by yourselves, don’t drag others with you."
The two hot-headed individuals were somewhat unwilling. They discussed it and felt that with their combined strength, as long as they were a bit cautious, they could surely slay a lot of Tier Two demons and obtain useful materials from them.
Thus, they left the Mercenary Corps and set out.
"The searchlight range is truly extraordinary. I even just saw a naturally growing pearl rosemary. It’s a pity it’s illegal, otherwise, I would’ve wanted to pick one and take it back." Qiosen regretted.
"Besides pearl rosemary, there are many other precious herbs here. But, these things can’t be randomly picked; who knows if the herb you pick will suddenly turn into a demon and swallow you whole." Adonis said.
They continued forward, and the path was very quiet. Ahead, they saw some chaotic traces as if a demon had rushed through.
The two immediately fell silent.
Adonis whispered, "Qiosen, don’t walk so fast. The minimum here is Tier Two demons, and if we’re unlucky, we might encounter Tier Three demons. With our strength, two Tier Two demons are manageable, but three is definitely beyond us. Encountering a Tier Three... we’d be done for."
Qiosen’s voice also lowered, "I know, but there’s something strange: we’ve already gone deep into the searchlight area, right? So why is there nothing around here except for that one demon earlier?"
"Maybe a mercenary corps has been through."
"Even if a mercenary corps has been through, unless they clamorously disturbed all the demons, there’s no way they would’ve left not a single one." Qiosen seemed to think of something and chuckled softly, "There used to be a foolish mercenary corps that did just that, and they ended up miserably. No fool would dare to pull that again."
Adonis nodded in agreement.
Qiosen looked ahead, "There’s a crevice here... once we pass through this crevice, we seem to have reached the Golden Coast."
"Then let’s quickly head back." Adonis wavered.
"We’ve come this far and only killed one demon; are you really willing to go back?" Qiosen grabbed Adonis, "Our strength has increased significantly! Stronger than other Tier Two mercenaries! A mere Golden Coast, what’s there to fear?"
Adonis brushed off Qiosen’s hand, "Don’t pull me, there might not be Tier Three demons outside, but there’re surely some inside Golden Coast. You want to die, go ahead."
"We’ve made it this far, aren’t you curious about the Golden Coast? We’ve only killed one demon so far, and you’re content just heading back? Going back empty-handed, don’t you think the leader would mock us?"
Adonis still wanted to leave, but Qiosen continued, "If you just go back like this, your leader will surely mock, ’Oh, look, this is our hero, he went deep into the Lost Lighthouse searchlight area and came back with nothing. Were you dazed behind the barricade until sunset and then hurried back?’."
"The girl you admire would look at you disdainfully. Think about it, in her eyes, when you entered, weren’t they filled with admiration? If you just go back like this..."
Adonis threw off Qiosen’s hand, "Don’t pull me."
With that, he snorted, stepped forward a couple of steps, then stopped and turned back.
"Why are you dawdling? Move forward."
Qiosen chuckled, and went further with Adonis.
Safely deeper in.
The surroundings were awfully silent.
So quiet it was unsettling, making them both uneasy.
"Why isn’t there a demon in this crevice either?"
The two began to reconsider retreating just as they were preparing to head back when they suddenly heard faint sounds from the distant Golden Coast.
"Sounds like a battle?"
"Is there a mage fighting?"
The two exchanged a glance and both heaved a sigh of relief.
Afterward, they picked up the pace, and soon traversed the crevice to reach the Golden Coast.
The beautiful Golden Coast hadn’t the chance to display itself before their eyes when they were stunned by the distant battle.
An endless stream of demons.
Five agile magic puppets.
And five young girls.
Magnificent magic, demons ceaselessly vanishing, piles of loot as high as mountains...
Every single detail left the two mortified.
It felt like these demons besieging the girls were just paper tigers, collapsing at a mere touch.
At that moment, an ordinary demon charging at the girls noticed the two, howling as it rushed toward them.
"Little demon, watch my Wind Blade reap you!"
An exhilarated Qiosen immediately manipulated a magic puppet to unleash a Wind Blade, striking the demon, leaving a gash as blood dripped, transforming into demonic qi in the air before dissipating.
The demon, pained, roared, opening its large mouth to bite the magic puppet.
Adonis joined in, and after a fight, they successfully slew the demon.
While they were picking up the loot, several more demons noticed them and immediately changed direction, charging toward them.
The two exchanged a glance, confident that though they couldn’t rival the five girls, they could easily deal with a few demons.
"Only four of them, come on!"
The two manipulated their magic puppets to rush in.
Before long, their magic puppets were successively elbowed by the demons, flung back to their feet.
Their faces turned pale.
"Such terrifying demons."
The four demons bellowed in unison, leaping toward them. Just as they tried to retreat, a sudden jolt of pain struck their minds.
The pain came abruptly, directly halting their escape.
"No good, it’s a Spiritual Attack!"
By the time they realized, it was too late.
They missed the best opportunity to run, left helplessly to watch the wolf-like demons open their bloody jaws to bite them.
But just then, an Ice Blade swept over, slicing through the necks of the four demons one after another.
In the next second, the four demon heads fell, transforming into pollution, dispersing into the air.
A somewhat familiar voice called out, "Quick, come over, behind us."
The two looked up to see the girl who had upgraded their magic puppet last night.
"You..."
Shock left the two with gaping mouths.
Hilia frowned, "Didn’t you hear? Get behind us, or you’ll die without knowing why."
Upon hearing that, they hurried over.
Hilia warned, "Don’t get too close to us, and don’t approach the coconut trees or the sea, or else bear the consequences yourself."
"Okay, okay."
The two who ran over were still shaken and nodded repeatedly.
Watching the five girls slaughter demons, they became somewhat numb.
Who in the world are they?
They seemed just like us, only Tier Two as well.
Yet... why are they so strong?
Why are all their spells Tier Two and of such high quality, I’m so envious.
The gap between Tier Two and Tier Two, how could it be this wide?
