Chapter 188: I’ll Treat You to a Drink

Originally, Li Yan thought these two Sanda athletes were just part of the group that had a little friction before lunch, so he didn’t pay much attention. Upon his return, he found Yurong, Qianyi, and Hai Fu standing at their original spot. They hadn’t moved far, surrounded by those men flattering them. It was apparent the men wouldn’t leave even when pushed away, and the women were waiting for Li Yan, unable to walk away. Except for occasionally teasing the men, Yurong and Hai Fu largely ignored them.

"With over a billion people in Yun Country, over ten million in S City, and thousands here tonight, it’s fate that we keep meeting. The sea breeze is getting colder here. Why don’t we move somewhere else? Let’s have a drink and wait for the new year’s eve to cross midnight..."

Li Yan approached and heard the boastful talk; it was the same guy from the restaurant. He placed his bags down and stepped forward, saying: "It’s you again? You want a drink? I’ll treat you, okay?"

"You’re back? What took you so long?" Wen Qianyi asked with a smile upon seeing Li Yan.

"Bought a bit more," Li Yan replied, nodding at Yurong and Hai Fu when they looked his way.

Seeing Li Yan return, those men felt a bit awkward. However, seeing him as their fetcher, they assumed he was just a bodyguard. Now, having met twice, shared some conversation, even if not friends, they were acquaintances. Given the women’s status, they figured the bodyguard wouldn’t act recklessly, right?

Thinking of this, they exchanged glances, feeling a bit more settled. The person whom Li Yan had lifted felt a dull pain at the back of his neck again, but he forced himself to say spiritedly, "It won’t cost much, it doesn’t matter who treats. After he quickly sorted things out, seeing those people had helped their friend out of the sea, unsure whether to cover him with clothes or strip off his wet ones.

"Still not leaving? Do you want to drink some seawater too?"

Upon hearing Li Yan’s words, they were startled and hurriedly helped their friend leave, heading back to the hotel to change clothes first.

"Come sit down!" The sand closer to the sea was wet, Li Yan placed the mat higher up.

"Li Yan, you’re too violent! You promised not to be rough earlier!" Once they approached, Zhang Yurong, as a married woman, felt responsible to remind him.

Li Yan knew she was worried about him being beaten up. While the two of them weren’t paying attention, he handed over a bottle of mineral water, also giving a reassuring look.

With a smile, he replied, "Yurong is right, but I didn’t act ’randomly’ rough. Randomly would be roughing up anyone; these guys were pestering you, that’s why I acted rough!"

Wen Qianyi worried that after tonight, Li Yan’s impression in Zhang Yurong’s heart might plummet, jeopardizing his current position or getting replaced. She quickly chipped in, "Those guys are so annoying. Chased them away and they kept jabbering here."

Hai Fu had similar thoughts, "Yeah! If not for being outmatched, I’d have taught them a lesson myself. Like flies!"

Wen Qianyi thought of Hai Fu’s natural authority in the company that even footsteps make male and female employees tense, but was unable to vent out earlier, indeed difficult.

Seeing them all say so, Zhang Yurong also took the opportunity to soften the situation, not wanting to embarrass Li Yan outside. "Just stay calm next time, there are several of them after all..."

As she drank water with lowered head, she realized the mineral water bottle had easily opened, and recalling Li Yan deliberately handing it first, knowing it was intentional, perhaps it was him who drank it first!
