Chapter 135: Cut Through
"Enough!" Abel raised his sword, turning it into a giant sword. He swept everything from the right.
Ellia could see the amount of energy contained in this sword. In fact, looking at all previous engagements, he always came out on top. The best she could do was equalize with his power.
That was why, seeing this sword, Ellia simply jumped into the air.
As if waiting for it, Abel raised his shield. "I’ve got you now! Holy Blast!"
The light burst forward, trying to defeat Ellia.
"Now, you can’t run anymore because you’ve just used your Void Step."
"..." Ellia didn’t say anything, but even she knew that there was no escape from this.
Boom!
The Holy Blast hit her directly. Principal Fernandes was already on edge, trying to see if Ellia was fine.
It was there that they found out the result. All of them, including Abel, saw Ellia’s scabbard spinning in the air as though it had just been flung out of her hand.
Abel thought that since the dean hadn’t announced the result, Ellia shouldn’t have been defeated yet. Still, she would be heavily injured to the point where she wouldn’t be in a position to fight anymore.
But that was what he thought.
It turned out everyone had been focusing too much on the scabbard. She intentionally tossed the scabbard to make it seem as if she had been severely injured.
Meanwhile, the real Ellia had already reached the other side of the arena. She moved so fast that it looked like she managed to avoid the Holy Blast.
"!!!" Auric couldn’t help but widen his eyes in shock. He could see everything that had happened earlier.
At the last moment, Ellia actually stepped on the air.
Ellia remembered how powerless she was fighting against the bats. She fought them inside the mall so she could somehow fight them, but if it was outside, there was no way to catch the bat.
She needed something that allowed her to fight them in the sky.
The clash between Maya and the Lightning Emperor gave her an idea of what she really wanted.
Maya was able to stand in the air by reinforcing her own shadow right underneath her feet.
So, Ellia used it to create this technique. It was a simple technique, especially since space was abundant.
She used this ability to create a foothold midair and leaped away at the last moment, avoiding the blast entirely.
There was no need for her to use her Void Step.
Now that Abel’s focus remained on the scabbard, Ellia charged her power and raised her sword, swinging it down.
"!!!" Abel widened his eyes in shock the moment he felt the fluctuation of energy coming from his left. He turned around and saw Ellia’s sword strike coming toward him. "What?!"
He hurriedly put his shield in front, but because of this sudden attack, his posture was unstable. As a result, the sword strike pushed him back.
It would have been good if this were the end of it, but what Ellia used was the Severed Sword.
She split the sword strikes into eight strikes. However, only one of them flew toward Abel directly. The remaining seven actually sank into the floor and traveled on the ground, creating grayish lines across the floor.
The moment Abel focused on that one sword strike, the other seven strikes closed in and sprang from the floor.
Abel’s body trembled. Seven sword strikes surrounded him, and he didn’t even have time to react.
Bang!
The seven sword strikes hit him at the same time.
"Aaaggghhh!" Abel screamed in pain. Even though the armor blocked the damage, the impact still hurt, not to mention seven of them.
All the students could only watch as Abel was saved by his armor again. Had Ellia been stronger, Abel really would have stood no chance against her despite him overpowering her attacks at every opportunity.
Milinda couldn’t help but clench her fists. She finally understood the gap between them.
If she fought against Abel, she had no confidence in winning. In addition, Ellia’s skills were much higher than hers. "Kh..."
"As expected of the little devil," Ran muttered. "I guess she’s really back at the top of our generation now."
Eric narrowed his eyes as the two professors taught him what had just happened.
"Her ability to see the chance as well as know what to use and when to use it is top-notch. If she hadn’t had that, she would have made a much sloppier job in defending herself."
"To think that she even used her own scabbard to create a feint."
What they didn’t know was that Ellia actually used one of her encounters as an inspiration. At that time, Auric was trying to sacrifice himself as bait. That action grabbed the beast’s attention, which made the beast do what Auric wanted it to do.
Meanwhile, all the students, including Abel, knew that she fought while holding her scabbard but rarely used it. In that case, she’d better use it to make the scabbard more useful, even as a feint.
With the damage done to Abel, Ellia took this chance to run toward him.
"No!" Abel gritted his teeth and reacted at the last moment, but this reaction was not enough against Ellia.
Ellia moved her sword into his path and let the blade slide on her blade. Once it reached above her head, she swung her blade up, knocking Abel’s blade up.
Then, she smoothly took a step to the left and hit him multiple times as she circled around him.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The clanking sounds of the armor echoed clearly in everyone’s ears. Even with armor, Abel could feel that one of his ribs had been cracked from these attacks.
He hurriedly turned his body and put his shield in front again, so Ellia struck the top part of the shield before bouncing away.
"No matter what you do, you’re not going to win this match." Abel glared at Ellia. No matter how pathetic he looked in this match, it wouldn’t matter as long as he won the match.
At that time, Ellia would be his, and the rest would just be history. That was why he had to win.
Ellia, on the other hand, finally saw her path to victory. After hitting him all this time, she could finally see the gap in his defense.
Hence, Ellia dashed forward.
Abel clicked his tongue. He changed his approach this time. He had been passive all this time, so he had to do something different to regain his advantage.
Ellia remained calm because it didn’t matter whether he was coming or not.
Both of them swung their swords at the same time. While Abel had more power in his swing, Ellia’s technique managed to equalize that power. In addition, she had the speed that Abel lacked after putting on all that armor.
She deflected the sword first and hit the shield. Abel came at her with his sword and his shield in rapid succession, repeating the process again and again to wear her out. After all, Ellia would use more energy this way.
Since Ellia had thrown her scabbard earlier, she couldn’t gain the upper hand. After all, Ellia would normally use the scabbard to defend herself against the shield.
"It’s your mistake to abandon your scabbard. Do you think a small trick will allow you to win this match?" Abel harrumphed and started overpowering her.
"You know, there’s usually not this much talk when you fight. Auric is much better than you in that regard." Ellia smirked.
Her comment caused his anger to erupt one more time.
"You..." Abel used the Holy Blast again.
Ellia had already jumped to the right, trying to reach her scabbard.
"I know you’re going to do that!" Abel had mentioned the scabbard. Just like Simon, she would focus on the thing he mentioned. That was why the moment she picked up the scabbard, a golden light fell upon her, scorching everything.
Ellia used the Void Step this time, teleporting not behind him, but in front of him.
"!!!" Abel was startled. This was an unexpected move. He didn’t have speed, so Ellia should have teleported behind him to gain the advantage.
Since she teleported in front of him, Abel only needed to put his shield in front to stop Ellia.
This was the time Ellia shocked Abel and everyone else who watched the match. Ellia gathered all her energy into her blade and swung it toward his neck.
Abel raised that shield, but Ellia raised her sword slightly higher so that once again, she struck the top part of the shield.
This time, there was no clicking sound of metal. Everyone’s jaws dropped as they couldn’t believe what had just happened.
Ellia cut through the top part of the shield, allowing her blade to hit his helmet.
Bang!
"Aaaahhhh!" Abel screamed in pain. The impact caused his entire body to shake. "You... How is this possible?"
Principal Fernandes was astonished by this one student. The others started to realize what had happened.
"Now that I think about it, hasn’t Ellia been striking that spot all this time?"
"She has been striking that spot with so much energy and power. Is this her aim?"
"Even if that’s her aim, can she really cut a shield that hard?"
The result was right in front of their eyes. Ellia had truly cut through the shield.
However, she didn’t stop there. Ellia hit Abel’s head one more time by using her scabbard. Because of its blunt edge, the strike felt like a hammer hitting him in the head.
Even with the helmet, Abel’s head started bleeding.
"Aaahhhh!" Abel gathered his power in his shield.
Before he could release his power, Ellia muttered, "I wonder how long your armor can last. Do you know how many times I’ve struck those same spots?"
"!!!" Abel widened his eyes. That was right. Ellia had been striking the same spot on his shield. She had also struck his armor many times.
Because he didn’t keep track of where she hit him, he had to assume that Ellia had been striking the same part, waiting for the chance to cut through it.
The moment he came to this realization, he jumped back, canceling his shield’s attack.
Ellia smirked as she swung her sword to the ground, using the Severed Strike.
Eight sword strikes traveled on the ground and surrounded Abel, hitting him one more time.
"Khh..." Abel gritted his teeth in pain. Ellia had just hit him again, and there was no telling when she would break through his armor. She had proven that she could cut through even the toughest shield.
Ellia closed the distance between them, not letting Abel escape or giving him time to think about her words.
Abel’s anger had made him focus on her all this time, not realizing that she had created layer after layer of traps.
Now that she had caught him, there was no escape.
Abel panicked. He couldn’t afford to lose.
"Haaaa!" He charged his shield again and used the Holy Blast to gain some distance, but Ellia simply jumped to the side. Now that he had panicked, his movements became predictable.
Ellia charged her power one more time.
Ellia took a deep breath, using her strongest technique.
World Cataclysm.
Ellia swung her sword at his head. The line appeared once again, causing the world to slide against each other and split into two.
After using the Holy Blast with his shield, Abel had no choice but to stop this with his sword. The sword flared with energy.
He swung it down as the force from the World Cataclysm and his holy sword clashed.
The winner was decided in just a second. The World Cataclysm cut through the holy sword and continued its way toward his head.
"!!!" Abel’s face turned pale. The real target was never his body. The several strikes she had made on his helmet were the true target.
This meant his helmet could be cut through, especially with such a powerful strike.
Principal Fernandes suddenly intervened, forming a barrier in front of the helmet and stopping Ellia’s attack at the last moment. "That’s enough. Ellia Stroph Astler wins!"
"Uooohhhh!"
The moment Principal Fernandes announced the results, the spectators cheered.
They once again witnessed why Ellia used to rule her generation.
