The Golem Mage
Chapter 1132: External Spying.
All the way from his own throne room, Alec had watched everything that happened, and when the battle ended, he couldn’t help smiling.
He was genuinely pleased, because everything had unfolded according to his plan, the very first thing he had done was create a teleportation axis in Brandon’s territory.
Because Brandon was a subordinate lord of his it also means that the land that bradon was in control of was basically his own, and it only made it easier for Alec to build things from his system store there and without needing permission from the acting lord of the city.
Though he planned to install such teleportation axis in all his subsidiary lands eventually, however; he had temporarily put that intention on hold, as placing one Space Axis cost about 500,000 System Points, and adding a travel location to a Space Axis cost another 100,000 System Points.
So, defending Brandon’s city in what had looked like such an effortless manner had actually cost Alec a staggering 1.2 million System Points.
Five hundred thousand for the Space Axis outside his own castle, another five hundred thousand to place one in Brandon’s castle, and then one hundred thousand each to register both lands as travel points towards each other on the two teleportation axis.
As Alec thought of how every time he started preparing for the upgrade of his spirit equipment set, another wave of expenses seemed to appear; he held his head in defeat.
Still, he was at least glad that he had managed to get the corpse of one Tier 7 and several Tier 6s out of the exchange.
To him, that single Tier 7 corpse alone was worth at least a million System Points if he chose to sacrifice it for points instead, which was why he wasn’t too bothered anymore.
Alec had always possessed a high level of confidence in his golems, and ever since they stepped into the Tier 7 realm and became Lord-rank golems, that confidence had only grown stronger.
There had only been a few times when they had truly gone all out, except whenever he was inside the amulet space.
Even so, he did not want them to gain experience only from fighting demonic beasts. He wanted them to battle intelligent species as well, races with humanoid forms, so they would not only learn how to handle enemies moving on four legs, but also those who walked on two feet.
Though they hadn’t fought humanoid lifeforms often enough, Alec never once believed the High Orcs would be a difficult task for them.
His golems could literally defeat a low Tier 8 mage if they fought in pairs.
That was for ordinary Tier 8 mages, not monsters or geniuses like Takeda. And to Alec, the orcs looked fairly normal, which was why he had left one of his main golems behind to protect Brandon, as he had always believed that one could never be too careful.
As for Butcher and Oni ending the battle almost instantly, Alec wasn’t particularly surprised, he knew it would take at least five peak Tier 7 High Orcs to hold down even one of his main golems.
And that wasn’t even the average standard for all of them, because the likes of Oni, Butcher, Titan, and Legion could easily toy with five peak Tier 7 mages sent against them.
However, while Alec was watching everything unfold, he wasn’t the only one with a view of the battlefield, the old man who had given him his lord token had also been spectating the fight, though he had realized that he had been blocked from spying directly on the eight cities he had assigned to Alec and his group, however that didn’t mean he couldn’t observe things in a roundabout way, and that was exactly what he had done.
Because of his position, he was still able to monitor most of the Wilderness, minus the insides of the buildings within those eight lands. Since he knew that had something to do with Alec, he didn’t bother dwelling on it too much.
Still, during one of his idle moments that day, he received a notification about a small invading force, such news normally wouldn’t have meant much, because invasions and skirmishes happened almost every day in the Wilderness regions.
But this one just so happened to be the first defensive battle in Alec’s new territory, and that alone was enough to make him watch, as his main intention of placing Alec there in the first place is so that he would battle with the Orcs on his behalf, clearly Alec couldn’t avoid it,he would have to fight one way or another.
However, the moment he first tuned in, what he saw were the tall, rough stone walls now encircling all eight cities, that alone surprised him, as he couldn’t understand how they had managed to put up such a defense so quickly.
Yes, every city needed some form of protection and proper city walls before it could truly be taken seriously, but he had never expected that the very first thing Alec and his group would do was erect stone walls.
He had read their files and knew they were exceptional mages, with earth element being the heritage of the clan they belonged to, but for them to create walls that tall and sturdy so quickly made him wonder if there was something more behind it.
He began to suspect that he might need to keep a closer eye on them to understand how they had accomplished such a feat—whether it was some forbidden scripture of their clan or perhaps a common skill tied to their bloodline.
After that, however, he had to push all those curious thoughts aside the moment he saw two golems dash out of the city to intercept the Orc army marching toward the gates.
At first, he had been surprised that only two golems had been sent out to fight, though he knew from Alec’s records that he used golems in battle, however just like most people in the Origin World, he had never imagined Alec would be able to go so far with them.
But that belief only lasted so far, until he saw Butcher make his move, from then on out he just watched everything unfold in silence, utterly amazed, and by the end of it, he had already made up his mind to visit Alec later.

“I remember telling you they were mine,” Butcher complained.
“Well, I didn’t come all the way here just to watch you have all the fun, better gather the bodies into your spatial ring so we can head back,” Oni said as he started walking away.
“But—”
“You’re much faster than me, you’ve got that lightning speed,” Oni cut in before dashing into the air, he left Butcher with no chance to argue back as he flew straight toward the castle after reentering the city.
After seeing the blur streak past the city gates, some of the men who had been hiding below, unwilling to risk being struck by debris from the battle outside—finally lifted their heads to look.
What greeted them felt almost unreal.
Orc corpses littered the ground, while the pitiful remnants of the army were already fleeing in full retreat, it looked like something out of a dream, because it was something they had never witnessed before.
Ever since the orcs invaded the Wilderness Region and began sweeping across every battlefield, they had never suffered such a crushing loss.
This was total defeat.
“The orcs have been defeated!” one of the men atop the city wall shouted, what followed was a long moment of silence as the people struggled to process his words.
Then it truly sank in, they would not be dying today, nor would they be dragged away as slaves by the orcs, and before long, the entire city erupted into celebration, filled with cheers and wild jubilation.
