The Gourmet Customizer
Chapter 86 - 71: An Ingenious Idea from a Foodie (Part 2)
"Yeah, yeah. I wonder who this company pissed off for someone to go after them like this. If this place were in the city, business would be booming!"
As the noodles were mixed with the sauce, the vlogger scooped up a massive portion with his chopsticks, clearing out an entire bowl’s worth in a single go!
His cheeks bulged, and his mouth was filled with the savory flavors of the sauce and chicken.
"GULP... Boss, two more bowls of noodles!"
Three minutes later, Aunt Fang came out again with two bowls of noodles.
"SLURP SLURP~ Boss..."
The staff watching from inside were all a little dumbfounded by the scene.
"Holy shit, this guy’s a beast! He finished a bowl of noodles in one bite. He’s even more intense than the boss!"
"The noodles are the real main event. I guarantee, if they’d served the noodles first, we wouldn’t have been able to finish the chicken."
"That little fatty over there doesn’t look like a hater sent by the competition. Everything he said while filming his video was praise for us. Look at him, he can’t even be bothered to talk now!"
Liu Ahbao was from E Province, so noodles weren’t his staple food. If given the choice, he would have preferred to pour this sauce over rice.
But after adding a bowl of noodles to the platter, mixing them with the thick sauce, and taking a small taste...
’Holy hell! No wonder Master had such high praise for this Boss Su!’
’Is this something a human can even make?’
This sauce was completely different from what you’d find in other Big Plate Chicken dishes. It tasted more like a specially prepared stir-fry sauce!
The key was that some of the potatoes had broken down, making the sauce thick and viscous, allowing it to cling effortlessly to every single noodle.
He took a bite.
Liu Ahbao felt like he had wasted the last twenty-odd years of his life. And to think he was a senior technician who even had a good command of Lu Cuisine.
’I need another bowl!’
After finishing the second bowl, Liu Ahbao was completely blown away!
If the first bowl was the perfect fusion of carbs and chicken, then the second was a bowl of mixed noodles that had transcended all base pleasures!
It wasn’t as salty, and the meat flavor wasn’t as strong, but the fresh aroma of the vegetables was even more intense.
’How did he do that?!’
The third bowl...
The sauce on the platter was getting thinner. This bowl of noodles barely picked up any color from the sauce, and when he ate it, even the hint of chicken flavor was faint and elusive.
But this very flavor somehow managed to highlight the aroma of the green and red peppers even more. Though they were all mixed on the same platter, this third bowl actually felt... refreshing, as if it were cutting through the richness?
Ah Bao didn’t know how to put this magical feeling into words. All he knew was to bury his head and eat like a madman. He would worry about everything else after he’d had his fill!
Aunt Fang shuttled back and forth between the kitchen and the dining hall, occasionally having to bring more noodles to Bai Xiaobo’s table.
After everyone had eaten an average of three bowls of noodles, the sauce on the platter had become very thin. Even if they added more noodles, there would be basically no flavor left.
Only then did the group pat their full stomachs in satisfaction. Some drank water, others picked their teeth.
"To be honest, two hundred yuan for a meal like this feels alright. It’s just a little far."
The vlogger sighed in frustration. "Don’t say it. I’m starting to regret taking this assignment. If my fans actually come here to eat, I’ll probably get flamed."
His companion nodded slightly, but then said, "This place is so far from the city. Who’s going to make a special trip out here just to eat? Let’s just stick to the plan when we get back. We’ll insist that the fatty over there is a shill!"
The vlogger cautiously glanced over, and seeing that the fatty hadn’t heard their conversation, he blinked. "Fine, that’s the plan. Let’s go!"
After the two left, a very satisfied Liu Ahbao stood up. "Hello, may I see your company’s boss?"
Aunt Fang was clearing the table and replied casually, "I’ll have to ask."
Once everything on the round table was cleared away, Aunt Fang went into the kitchen. "Boss, the fatty outside wants to see you."
"See me?" Su Chen shook his head. "I don’t have time."
He then turned to Ling Shuyu. "Do you understand? The key to wok-seared noodles is searing the aromatics in the wok. You must use plenty of scallions. If you don’t know what ’plenty’ means, then just memorize this ratio."
After finishing the stir-fried chicken, Su Chen had begun teaching Ling Shuyu how to make the wok-seared noodles.
Zhang Li was also there, her assistant’s instincts compelling her to take constant notes on the key points in a notebook.
"I understand," Ling Shuyu said calmly.
Su Chen continued to sear the scallions, then poured the beaten egg mixture into the wok. "This is to enhance the umami. If you can’t remember the right cooking level, then just memorize the cooking time."
Seeing that the boss didn’t even have time to talk to her, Aunt Fang went back to the dining hall and told the fatty, "The boss is busy right now. He doesn’t have time to meet with you."
"Hah!" Instead of being angry, Liu Ahbao was delighted. ’A boss with a personality! I love it, I love it!’
He gave the empty platter on the table a reluctant, longing look, then shouldered his backpack and prepared to leave.
When he reached the elevator, he saw something next to a pile of junk in the corner.
"Hiss! This photo..."
He quickly opened his phone’s camera. "As expected of a top master! To casually toss a photo with my master, Lu Yongliang, the number one chef of Hubei Cuisine, into a pile of trash! So badass!"
After carefully aiming and taking a shot of the photo frame, Liu Ahbao finally left the building, satisfied.
「Meanwhile, at Bai Xiaobo’s table.」
"Are you full?"
Zhang Qing covered her mouth. "BURP~ It’s all your fault for bringing me to eat something so delicious! I’m so embarrassed, I ate two bowls of noodles."
"Haha! A good appetite is a blessing! Besides, anyone who eats my boss’s food basically eats twice their usual amount!"
Zhang Qing was still a little embarrassed.
She was well aware of Bai Xiaobo’s feelings for her, but... she was determined to find a man with a stable, government-affiliated job to be her other half.
