The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2348 - 2347: Continuing the Treatment
Although the girl took the initiative, Ling Feng still felt a bit hesitant inside.
This kind of thing could at best be called a fleeting romance. Although he was a man and couldn’t restrain this impulse, he still felt it wasn’t quite right.
After some thought, Ling Feng came to the bedside and saw Mu Wan’er staring straight at him. He chuckled bitterly and said, "Actually, you don’t need to do this."
"I know."
Mu Wan’er nodded slightly, then continued, "But I am willing. You are a good person. I won’t regret giving myself to you. It’s better than marrying someone I don’t like."
Ling Feng: "..."
He was still hesitating, but Mu Wan’er said, "Turn off the light."
Ling Feng looked at her and saw her determined gaze. He could only take a deep breath, "Alright."
After turning off the light, he returned to bed. No sooner had he lain down than Mu Wan’er clumsily and awkwardly hugged him.
Ling Feng tried to hold back, but couldn’t resist the girl’s awkward exploration. Left with no choice, he had to give in!
After a long while, the room quieted down, and Mu Wan’er steadied her rapid breathing and then gently sat up.
"What’s wrong?"
Ling Feng asked, puzzled.
"I have to go back."
Mu Wan’er fumbled to put on her clothes and said, "Thank you."
Ling Feng: "..."
The room was pitch black, and he could only vaguely see her silhouette. As he watched Mu Wan’er get up and leave, he couldn’t utter a word.
When the door opened and closed again, leaving the room completely silent, Ling Feng still felt as if he were in a dream.
...
...
The next morning, after Ling Feng got up, someone specially brought him water for washing and breakfast, all placed on the table in the outer room.
After washing and having breakfast, someone came to invite him.
Arriving at the room next to Mu Wan’er’s mother’s, Ling Feng discovered that aside from the woman lying in bed, there was no one else. So he turned and asked, "Where is Miss Mu?"
"She went to the front and will be back shortly," the servant said.
Ling Feng acknowledged with an "oh" and didn’t ask further.
The servant withdrew, and Ling Feng hesitated a bit, then sat down on a stool.
With Mu Wan’er not there, it wouldn’t be right for him to look at the woman, since she wasn’t wearing clothes, and going over now would seem indecent, right?
So, it’s better to wait.
A few minutes later, the door sounded, and Mu Wan’er returned.
Their eyes met, and while there was no expression on her face, she said faintly, "Divine Doctor Ling, you’re here."
"Yes."
Seeing her act as if nothing had happened, last night’s events felt like a dream; Ling Feng couldn’t quite describe his feelings.
"My mother’s condition has improved a lot. She even woke up for a while last night. It seems the medicine you gave her was really effective, so please continue your treatment today," Mu Wan’er said.
Ling Feng nodded, "Alright!"
Then he followed Mu Wan’er inside.
The woman’s complexion was much better than before, with some rosiness, but she was still asleep.
Ling Feng thought it was just as well. If she were awake, everyone might feel awkward, right?
At this time, Mu Wan’er had already lifted the blanket covering her, and only then did Ling Feng notice that she was wearing a bra and shorts.
It seemed that Mu Wan’er had been here taking care of her mother last night and had helped her get dressed.
Seeing this, Ling Feng sighed in relief.
Though it meant fewer beautiful sights to see, at least there wouldn’t be any awkwardness.
There was still some medicinal powder left from yesterday, and after turning her over, Mu Wan’er loosened the ties of the bra, and Ling Feng went forward to resume treatment.
No one spoke during the process, as Ling Feng focused earnestly on channeling the medicine’s energy into the woman’s body, gradually repairing her damaged nerves, massaging for half an hour.
After finishing, Mu Wan’er went to clean up the medicinal powder, while Ling Feng sat beside her and said, "Once more tonight and once again tomorrow morning, your mother’s injuries should improve."
Hearing this, Mu Wan’er’s body trembled slightly.
But she didn’t say anything, only silently cleaned up. After that, the two of them turned her mother’s body over and covered her with the blanket again.
It was still early at this time, so Ling Feng stood up and said, "I’ll head out first."
"Wait."
Mu Wan’er tidied up a bit and followed him outside, then asked, "Divine Doctor Ling, are you planning to go back to your room?"
"No, there’s nothing much to do back there. I thought I’d go for a walk," Ling Feng replied.
"Then let me accompany you. I understand you’re not from Xuantian City, so you must be unfamiliar with this place, right?" Mu Wan’er suggested.
Ling Feng nodded, "Yes, I’m indeed not familiar."
"It’s fine with me here!" Mu Wan’er said.
Seeing her insistence, Ling Feng didn’t refuse and nodded, "Alright, then I’ll trouble you."
"No trouble at all."
Mu Wan’er nodded without saying much more.
Then, the two walked out together.
After leaving the Mu Mansion, Mu Wan’er took Ling Feng for a walk around the streets of the Second Layer.
I must say, the security in the Second Layer is much better than in the First Layer.
The people here are very kind, with children laughing and running on the streets, and adults not worrying about their safety.
Walking down the street, Ling Feng suddenly became curious and asked, "The Second Layer is much better than the First Layer. Does that mean the higher you go, the better it gets?"
"Yes!"
Mu Wan’er nodded and continued, "Different levels house different kinds of people. The higher you go, the higher the people’s status, but the fewer their number."
"I see!"
Ling Feng nodded, feeling it was quite similar to human society, with a pyramid-like distribution, where the most people are at the bottom, and fewer as you ascend.
Usually, it’s the very few at the top layer who control most of the world’s wealth. This has been true for a very long time.
Class divisions have always been an essential way of categorizing human society.
With curiosity, Ling Feng inquired further about the Third and Fourth Layers and even those above. From Mu Wan’er’s words, he learned a lot more than from Lai Fu.
The whole of Xuantian City has over a hundred thousand people, with more than seventy thousand at the bottom layer, and fewer than a hundred people at the layer just below the City Lord’s Mansion.
The Second Layer has a population of seven thousand, a very small number, only half of the First Layer.
It’s often said that wherever there are people, there’s a world of intrigue. Xuantian City is no different. It seems stable and peaceful on the surface, yet there are strong undercurrents, with a dozen or so underground organizations.
It was Ling Feng’s first time hearing this, prompting him to ask a few more questions. The two strolled through the streets, chatting about the city.
In this way, the two walked farther and farther away until they reached the backside of Shan Feng.
There were few buildings here, mostly rocks, and the area hadn’t been fully developed.
After all, with such a small population, building all houses would mean they go unoccupied.
In high spirits, the two didn’t pay much attention to their surroundings. But just then, Ling Feng suddenly felt a stir in his heart and looked up!
More than a dozen figures descended from the sky!
