"S-Sorry, grandfather. I just wanted to keep things professional."

Headmaster Leonart laughed at his granddaughter’s embarrassment! It felt like only a few days ago when he was holding her in his lap and helping her play with magic dolls, but now she had grown into a perfect woman who would be the envy of anyone! Time really flies!

Headmaster Leonart took up one of the papers that Rosa brought to him and he looked through it before he nodded and told Rosaline that he would look through it properly and sign it before going home later.

"You can come take it before class tomorrow, Rosa."

"Are you sure, Grandfather? It’s rather late, so it’s fine if you handle it tomorrow."

Leonart waved Rosa’s concerns away.

"You don’t need to worry about me. I may be old, but I am still very healthy. Now, tell me, how are things in school? I hope the students aren’t stressing you out too much."

Rosaline had only started teaching this year, so Leonart knew that it would be a little difficult for her to get used to the stubborn and difficult students in the school! Even though Verati Academy was seen as one of the most prestigious schools in the entire kingdom, the students were still children, so it was impossible for all of them to be well-behaved! But surprisingly, Rosa smiled and said that she was doing just fine.

"The students are brilliant, grandfather. There is one girl in my class named Helga who is an absolute genius in Runecrafting. She’s a dryad from the Gaia family, and her healing and repair runes are better than anything I’ve ever seen from a student. With her progress, I think she might be ready to learn fourth-grade runes before she gets to her third year."

Headmaster Leonart smiled, and he said that this was good. Leonart honestly thought that Rosaline would find it hard to adapt to the school since she was so young, but he couldn’t be more proud of how well she was doing! Well, he shouldn’t be too surprised by it! She was his granddaughter after all! Of course, she would do well! Headmaster Leonart laughed internally in pride, but he turned back to Rosaline as she spoke up.

"But there is something I wanted to talk to you about, grandfather?"

"Mhh, what is it?"

Leonart leaned against his table and gave his granddaughter his full attention, and Rosaline frowned slightly as she continued.

"I spoke to some of the students recently, and they say that they find it hard to go to the library these days."

Leonart frowned.

"Oh? And why is that?"

"They said it’s because of the new librarian and his assistant. The students I asked said that they were all intimidated."

"Intimidated? Isn’t that interesting?"

Headmaster Leonart chuckled slightly as he thought about this, and Rosaline was surprised to see the headmaster treating this so lightly! Doesn’t the headmaster know that the library was one of the most important places in the entire school? If the students were scared to go to the library, then it would obviously affect their school lives! Rosaline still didn’t understand why her grandfather had given the job of librarian to Percival. It had been a surprise to nearly everyone who knew the headmaster. Usually, Leonart was very meticulous about picking teachers and staff for the academy. If you did not meet his expectations, then there was no way he would hire you as a staff member! But for some reason, Leonart had stuck his neck out to make sure that Percy was given the job as the librarian! Even when Percy didn’t produce many of the documents for qualification that they asked him for, her grandfather still didn’t do anything!

"Grandfather, who is this man? I understand that you must’ve known him from the past for you to treat him so well, but is he really so important that you would give him so much preferential treatment?"

The headmaster smiled, and he gave a one-word answer that made Rosaline’s eyes widen in surprise.

"Yes."

Rosaline stared at her grandfather in shock! Leonart’s answer was something that she didn’t expect at all! There was no explanation and no reason for his action! Leonart was simply saying that Percival was indeed important enough to deserve all his support! Leonart noticed the shocked look on his granddaughter’s face, and he let out a calm sigh to the side as he said:

"I understand this might seem abnormal to you, but I need you to accept that Percival will remain as a staff of this school until the moment he himself decides he is no longer interested in it. He has earned that right through his many actions over the years. And as for the students who claim to be uncomfortable in the library. Did they specify that Percival was the problem?"

Rosaline was surprised by this question and her face squeezed slightly as she thought about it for a moment before she said:

"Uhm, no. Actually, many of the students said they were intimidated by the librarian’s assistant. I believe it’s the vampire woman who helps Percival around the library."

Leonart rubbed his beard wisely and chuckled in amusement!

"These children that were intimidated, are they all young boys?"

Rosaline nodded.

"Yes, grandfather."

"Hohoho! You are still quite naïve, aren’t you, Rosaline? Have you not understood the reason behind their intimidation by now? It’s obvious that those boys have developed quite the crush on young Miss Rita. I’m sure their reason for not going to the library is because they are too scared to talk to her."

Rosaline’s eyes widened in disbelief when she heard this, and she couldn’t help but facepalm in annoyance! How in the world didn’t she figure this out earlier! All the boys who told her about this problem looked very embarrassed about it, and Rosaline thought they were just embarrassed because they didn’t want to talk badly about the librarian! Those little troublemakers were just shy to go close to a beautiful woman!

"I can’t blame you for not knowing. You’ve never had a boyfriend before, after all! You’re a novice when it comes to love! Hohoho!"

Rosaline’s cheek darkened in embarrassment!

"Grandfather, please!"

Leonart only laughed harder at his granddaughter’s embarrassment, and it took a few seconds for him to finally calm down and continue speaking.

"Do not worry about this anymore, Rosaline. Percival might not have the trust of all the professors, but I believe he is the most qualified person to guide these students on the path to greatness. And if you ever have a chance to meet and speak with him, I’d advise you to pay close attention to every word he speaks and give him the highest respect."

Rosaline’s brow furrowed in surprise, and she asked:

"Is he really that impressive, grandfather?"

Leonart smiled, and he looked out from the glass wall at the grand academy below him.

"Trust me, Rosa. That man is more impressive than you will ever know."

[Verati Academy Library]

[The underground Research Room]

Percival was sitting behind his desk and looking through a complicated rune sequence he had been working on. It was a second-grade offensive rune with a force multiplier sequence that was meant to allow a mage to increase the output of their attacks many times over. But even though Percy was trying to focus on the rune, he couldn’t stop his mind from drifting towards the case he had been working on with Viva. For the past ten years after the demihuman war ended, Percy had been living away from society to try to enjoy some peace and quiet. Even though he willingly fought during the war, there was too much death and suffering that he witnessed back then from both sides of the war. Percy had developed a hatred for almost everyone around him, and Percy wasn’t interested in being around humans or demihumans for a long time! The only people Percy stayed with were Rita and Lana.

But after staying away for ten years, Percy finally decided that he was ready to come back to society, and after talking with Headmaster Leonart, he was given this job as the new academy librarian.
