Percy turned to Viva and spoke.

"Fine, you can stay. But from now on you’ll do exactly what Rita tells you to. If I hear that you cause a nuisance or break anything important, I’m kicking you out. Do you understand?"

Viva’s face brightened happily, and she saluted Percy in agreement! But Viva felt her smile dying out when Rita suddenly stepped in front of her! Viva looked up at the much taller woman with slight fear in her eyes! Even though Viva was a member of the City Guard, there was an imposing aura around Rita that made Viva feel like she didn’t have any power at all in this place! And the fact that Rita was so unbelievably beautiful only added to her aura!

Rita smiled at Viva and spoke.

"Welcome to the Verati Library. As a new member of the staff, you are obligated to protect the sanctity of this library with your life, and that means you will do exactly what I tell you to when I tell you to do it. is that understood?"

Viva swallowed and nodded slowly. Rita’s lips widened into a beautiful smile, and for some reason, Viva felt like she had just signed a deal with the devil!

"Lana!"

Rita turned to the side and called out, and a gust of wind blew across the air before Lana suddenly appeared and saluted!

"Hello, Madam Rita! Lana is here!"

The cheerful little girl smiled up at Rita, and Rita smiled back as she pet Lana between her horns. Rita then spoke.

"Lana, Viva here is going to be joining our staff for a few days. She wants to blend in, so it won’t be reasonable for her to work in her officer uniform. Please take Viva to change into something more fitting."

Rita turned to Viva with a smile, and Viva took a step back in shock as she wondered what Rita was talking about! Lana suddenly grabbed Viva’s arm, and Viva cried out as Lana pulled her to the side!

"Hey, wait! Where are you taking me!? Wait! Why the hell are you so strong!?"

Viva turned to talk to Rita, but there was no way she could pull out of Lana’s grip and she could only continue crying out as Lana took her to the inner room!

A few seconds later, Lana and Viva walked out of the inner rooms, and Viva had the largest blush on her face as she tried not to run away! Viva had been stripped of her guard’s outfit, and now she was wearing the same black and white maid’s outfit that Lana was wearing! The outfit was very functional with minimal frills and a straight skirt. Lana and Viva had the same average bust size, so the outfit actually fit Viva properly, but the only issue was the fact that Viva was far taller than Lana, so rather than coming down to her knees like it did for Lana, the outfit stopped at her upper thigh and made her look unexpectedly seductive!

Viva was trying and failing to pull the gown down, and she could feel her cheeks growing redder the longer she stood there! Viva just wanted to vanish!

Rita walked forward and studied Viva calmly before nodding.

"It’s a bit short, but I suppose it works. You’re only staying for a few days, so it shouldn’t be a problem, should it? Baby, what do you think?"

Rita suddenly turned around to speak to Percy, and Viva’s eyes widened in shock when she saw Percy standing at the librarian’s desk. Percy turned to look at Viva, and his eyes scanned over her body and stopped at her long exposed legs for a moment before he nodded calmly.

"Not bad."

Viva’s blush grew so much that even her neck turned red and she cried out!

"I can’t wear this!"

Rita blinked.

"Why not?"

"Why not!? It’s so embarrassing! I... I feel like one of those escorts from the red palace!"

The Red Palace was the name given to the red-light district of Aquinas City, and it was where you could find all the escorts and ladies of the night. Rita waved her hand nonchalantly and said:

"Don’t be absurd, Viva. Your chest is far too small for you to be an escort."

"Pfft!"

Lana turned to the side and laughed at Rita’s jab, and even Percy couldn’t help but chuckle in amusement! Viva turned to the two of them with the hardest glare, but it didn’t do anything at all, and Viva’s face just grew redder!

Rita clapped her hands once, and she turned serious as she began to explain what Viva’s duties would be from now on.

"Lana has been overlooking some of her duties recently and I think you’ll be a big help in making sure things are kept tidy around here. For the next two days, you’ll shadow Lana and learn the ropes from her, and then you’ll know what duties you need to pay more attention to. Oh, and I should warn you before you begin. The Basilisks have been mating recently, so the pregnant mother might be slightly aggressive. Be very careful when cleaning the storage rooms so you don’t get bitten."

"HUH!?"

Viva took multiple steps back, and she watched Rita’s expression to see if Rita was joking or not, but Viva was shocked when she realized that Rita was actually being dead serious! Why are there so many dangerous creatures in this damn library!?

"Don’t worry, Viva! The basilisks are really friendly! Come on, I’ll introduce you! Once they get your smell, I’m sure they won’t bite you!"

Lana took Viva’s hand again and began pulling her towards the storage room door, and Viva cried out that she didn’t want to go! She didn’t want to meet any damn basilisk! But it was impossible for Viva to break out from Lana’s grip! Lana was just far too strong!

’How is such a small girl this strong! I’m in the third realm and I can’t even make her budge!’

But all of a sudden, before they could reach the door, a gust of wind blew across the library, and the loud sound of something crashing into the ground echoed through the room! Everyone turned around in shock, and Viva’s eyes widened when she saw a white door floating in the air beside the statue of Verati! The door was open, and two people had fallen through and crashed into the ground! One of them was a man wearing a red military uniform, and the other person was a woman dressed in a high-quality clothes made from black cotton!

The moment they appeared, the door above them slammed closed and vanished, and Rita’s eyes widened in shock as she muttered in a quiet voice.

"What...?"

The only person in the room who wasn’t too shocked to move was Percy, and Percy walked out from behind the librarian’s desk and went towards the two strangers. As he got closer, Percy got a better look at them, and he was able to immediately realise that they were both vampires. They had pale skin and blood red lips, and they had an appearance that was unbelievably beautiful!

Neither of them were moving, and the woman had a nasty injury on the side of her head that looked fatal! The man had his hands around the woman protectively, but he also had a cut on his side that was slowly bleeding out! Percy leaned down and reached out with his magic to see if they were still alive, and Percy frowned when he only got a response from the man’s magic.

The woman had already died.

"Are they still alive?"

Rita spoke up in a low voice from behind Percy, and Percy turned around to see that she was still standing where she had been with a shocked look on her face. Rita looked perfectly calm on the outside, but Percy could easily see the way her eyes stayed fixed on the woman and how her hands tightened into fists. It was obvious that Rita knew who this was!
