The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne
Chapter 718: Treasure Chamber
Nolan, Evalyn, and Eira walked side by side down the hallway.
Eira turned to Nolan and asked curiously, "Master, where are we going?"
Nolan smiled and replied, "We’re going to the Lionheart family’s treasure room."
"Treasure room?" Eira blinked in confusion. "Is there chocolate inside?"
Nolan: "..."
Soon after, the three of them arrived in front of the treasure chamber. The door stood tall, reaching nearly two meters in height.
Evalyn opened it using a special key given to her by her father.
The treasure chamber was the most heavily guarded place in the Lionheart family.
It was where the Lionheart family’s accumulated wealth was stored. If it weren’t for Nolan’s promise to help Evalyn obtain the inheritance left behind by the family’s ancestor, it would have been impossible for him to enter this place.
Clack!
As soon as the lock clicked open, Evalyn immediately pushed the door, and a vast room came into view.
Inside was an overwhelming amount of treasure—golden armor, swords, and countless other valuable items.
On the right side of the room stood a towering pile of gold coins. If counted, it might amount to hundreds of millions of Sharn—or even more.
"Don’t go in yet," Evalyn warned. "This place is filled with traps that have been set for thousands of years. Let me deactivate them first."
She stepped forward and began disabling the traps.
Nolan scanned every corner of the chamber and sensed powerful magic circles scattered across the floor, spaced roughly every fifty centimeters apart.
Each circle radiated a deadly destructive force. Anyone foolish enough to step inside without caution would die instantly.
Five minutes later, Evalyn was finally finished and returned to their side.
"Let’s go in."
Nolan nodded and led Eira inside.
The little girl’s gaze never strayed from the glittering treasures.
After all, she was a dragon—and dragons had always loved shiny things.
"When we get back, how about I build you your own nest?" Nolan offered.
"A nest?" Eira looked surprised.
"Yeah." Nolan nodded. "Later, I’ll give you lots of valuable things, and you can keep them all for yourself."
Eira’s eyes immediately lit up. Just imagining herself lying atop a pile of shiny objects was enough to make her happy.
"I want one!" she replied without hesitation.
Nolan chuckled softly and patted her head.
"We’re here," Evalyn said from the front.
Nolan lifted his gaze and looked at a glass case nearly three meters tall.
The case was adorned with gold trim along its edges, but the inside was empty.
That was where the Divine Sword of Luminus had once been kept, before Evalyn claimed it.
Judging by the timeline, the sword had been stored there for over a thousand years.
That was an incredibly long time—long enough for an empire or kingdom to undergo more than ten changes of rule.
"So, what are you going to do, Nolan?" Evalyn asked curiously.
She folded her arms and stared at him intently.
Earlier, Nolan had said he could help her obtain the fighting style of her ancestor.
At first, Evalyn had been skeptical, but Nolan assured her he wasn’t talking nonsense.
After all, Nolan had never lied to her—especially not about something this serious.
That was why Evalyn trusted him.
However, what puzzled her was the fact that Nolan said he needed to see the glass case that once held the Divine Sword of Luminus first.
To Evalyn, it made absolutely no sense.
Nolan smiled and replied casually, "Just watch—I’ll show you something."
Under Evalyn’s bewildered gaze, Nolan stepped forward and stopped right in front of the glass case.
He placed his palm against its surface and closed his eyes.
Whoosh!
A faint ripple spread across the glass display case.
Suddenly, the corner of Nolan’s mouth lifted slightly.
’Just as I thought... my hunch was right,’ he muttered as he slowly opened his eyes.
Back when Nolan used to visit the Lionheart family often, he had once sensed a mysterious fluctuation within this treasure chamber.
At first, the fluctuation had been extremely faint. But as time passed, its presence grew clearer until Nolan had been tempted to investigate it.
Unfortunately, he never did.
Entering a family’s treasure chamber—especially one as prestigious as the Lionhearts’—was tantamount to theft and betrayal.
Even without any intention to steal, it could still be considered a crime.
Nolan respected the Lionheart family, which was why he never went that far.
"Evalyn, can you hand me the Divine Sword of Luminus?" Nolan asked.
Evalyn was puzzled by his request, but she didn’t refuse. She opened her palm, and the sword appeared in her grasp.
"Be careful. This sword has a mind of its own. I don’t know whether it likes you or not. If it doesn’t, it could be dangerous because—"
Before she could finish her warning, Nolan had already taken the sword and run his hand along the blade.
"Nice sword," he remarked.
Evalyn: "..."
The corner of her mouth twitched, and she didn’t know what to say. The Divine Sword of Luminus disliked being held by others—especially men.
Yet Nolan had simply taken it, and the sword hadn’t reacted at all.
That was completely illogical.
What Evalyn didn’t know was that the moment Nolan held the sword, the Divine Sword of Luminus sensed an overwhelming threat from him.
If it showed even the slightest resistance, it would die—at least, that was what it believed.
After running his hand along the blade to his satisfaction, Nolan placed the sword back into the glass display case and locked it.
"What are you doing?" Evalyn asked hesitantly.
Instead of answering, Nolan turned to face her and asked, "Do you know why you couldn’t claim your inheritance?"
"Why?" Evalyn asked instinctively.
"It’s because you haven’t found the right way," Nolan explained simply. "Watch. I’ll guide you onto the path your ancestor prepared."
After saying that, Nolan pressed his palms together. A faint purple light appeared between them, and he placed it against the glass cabinet.
Whoosh!
A brighter purple light burst forth. Eira and Evalyn hurriedly shielded their faces with their arms.
But suddenly, both of them felt a mysterious pulling force. They tried to resist, but it was useless.
In the next instant, they were swallowed by the light.
Nolan smiled and allowed himself to be drawn in as well.
A few seconds later, the three of them vanished without a trace, as if they had never been there at all.
