Chapter 87: Wan Wan, Do You Like Me?

Jiang Xuecheng looked up slightly. He smiled as he teased, “Wan Wan, your IQ is indeed slightly higher than I imagined.”

Jiang Xuecheng admitted generously but his narcissistic tone made Su Wan roll her eyes uncontrollably.

She was inexperienced. Even if the rumor that Ye Shanshan was bad or even if Long Teng International trusted her ability, they should not pass the Beitong project to a newbie like her.

Hence, when she was entrusted with an important task, she had to guess it was Jiang Xuecheng’s doing.

Su Wan hung her handbag on the clothes stand and changed into her house slippers before walking towards Jiang Xuecheng.

She half squatted beside Jiang Xuecheng. With her refined face tilted up, she asked Jiang Xuecheng jokingly.

“Xuecheng, the bidding for Beitong is such a huge project and you passed it to me. Aren’t you afraid I’d mess it up?”

Jiang Xuecheng stopped smiling. His eyes were bright and cold. Su Wan felt uncertain about his appearance which appeared to be too profound to be understood. She almost thought Jiang Xuecheng had realized his unsuitable arrangement.

Who would have known the man’s serious look would last no more than three seconds. He tilted Su Wan’s chin up and spoke.

“Wan Wan, let’s make a bet. If you can’t get this project, you’ll have to come and be my special assistant. You cannot decline.”

Su Wan trembled under Jiang Xuecheng’s stare. She pushed Jiang Xuecheng’s hand away and there was self-arrogance in her voice.

“What if I win? If I lose, I’ll be your assistant. Isn’t this too shameful? Isn’t it better if I win and you find a headhunter to bring me over?”

Jiang Xuecheng dotingly caressed Su Wan’s hair, “Alright, alright, then you must win. I’ll wait and see.”

Even if Su Wan lost, it didn’t matter to Jiang Xuecheng. He would still think of a way to bring Su Wan to his side.

Although they saw each other every day, he still felt it would be better if he could see Su Wan all the time.

Su Wan nodded her head determinedly. “I’ll work hard! Alright, please let me use the study room tonight. I plan to go to Beitong’s development zone to do an on-site investigation. So, I’ll need to search for some information.”

Just as Su Wan was about to turn around and leave, she was pulled back by Jiang Xuecheng. He stared at Su Wan with affection.

“Wan Wan, you’ve worked the entire day. Can’t you rest with me for a while?”

Su Wan darted a look at Jiang Xuecheng. “Do you still need someone to accompany you when you rest? Aren’t you the one who arranged this project for me? If I fail, aren’t you the one who would feel ashamed?”

When he saw Su Wan about to walk away, a cold ray of light flashed through Jiang Xuecheng’s eyes. He stood up suddenly and blocked Su Wan.

He stood in front of Su Wan and held her face. His fingers moved to her cheeks and he asked, “Wan Wan, do you like me?”

His deep eyes emitted radiance, as if he could see through her heart and dash into her limbs and bones.

Su Wan met his serious gaze and was slightly stupefied. She pursed her lips and for a moment, she didn’t know how to answer.

Did she like Jiang Xuecheng?

This was a man she had known for only a little more than a month, and they had gone from strangers, when she saved him by chance, to living together at Fontainebleau in that short span of time.

Initially, it was because of that marriage certificate, because she had been driven into a corner and if she wished to get her Sheng Yuan shares back, it was the wisest and most beneficial decision for her to marry Jiang Xuecheng.

However, since their marriage till now, did she like him?

She repeatedly thought about this and she felt her heart suddenly stop. She pursed her lips and didn’t want to deceive Jiang Xuecheng.

If she were to lie, her lie would easily be discerned by him who was smart and arrogant.

“I—I don’t know. You know why I married you in the first place. It was not because I liked you…”

Su Wan frowned slightly. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly. With a sense of hesitance, she continued with a firm voice.

“But Xuecheng, at least I’m very sure, I don’t hate you. I have a sense of security being with you, one that I never had previously.”

She had been learning how to be a good wife, but how could she make herself love Jiang Xuecheng? She didn’t know what she should do.

Jiang Xuecheng listened quietly. He did not interrupt Su Wan but his deep eyes kept moving. That pair of eyes seemed calm but flames lit up eventually.

Su Wan seized his hands and stared at him. There was a sense of emptiness and entanglement in her almond eyes. “I’m sorry, did my answer disappoint you? We still have lots of time together. From now on, I’ll try to like…”

From now on, I’ll try to like you, for the rest of my life.

This sentence made Su Wan feel bashful deep in her heart. As a girl, this was the most direct expression of love in all her life.

However, before she could finish her sentence, Su Wan’s lips was blocked by Jiang Xuecheng’s fingers.

Su Wan was taken aback. The huge chandelier that hung above her casted mottled light and shadow on Jiang Xuecheng’s face. His pair of dark eyes under the light was more soul-stirring.

“Enough, Wan Wan, don’t say anymore. I know what you mean.”

Jiang Xuecheng’s tall figure towered over Su Wan. He stared at her with sparkling eyes.

The air surrounding them seemed to be moving slower and that strange atmosphere made Su Wan’s heart beat faster and faster.

This was not the first time she had felt like this. His clear and clean breath hovered around her nose and his face was nearing hers. Her cheeks became warmer and she shut her eyes.

Was he trying to kiss her?

After a long wait, his lips did not come near as imagined. Su Wan opened her eyes in surprise but saw that Jiang Xuecheng had raised his head while staring at her mischievously.

Jiang Xuecheng tapped Su Wan’s nose and smiled faintly. “Wan Wan, you looked like you were looking forward to my kiss.”

Su Wan looked at him speechlessly. She was probably thin-skinned and felt embarrassed.

“So what if I was waiting for you to kiss me? Who asked you to come so near just now…since you don’t wish to kiss me, I’ll go to the study room to search for some information.”

Su Wan turned around angrily but hadn’t expected to suddenly be picked up by Jiang Xuecheng.

Su Wan cried out in alarm. She looked up and was met with the sight of his devilish, handsome face. His eyes were burning and his deep voice had a sense of enchantment.

“Forget about the study room. Let’s go to the bedroom. I’ll satisfy your request.”

Meeting this pair of flaming eyes, Su Wan suddenly thought of that day’s incident. That moment, her face turned extremely red.
