Then she asked, "My dad... Alexander... he helped you in the end, right?"

Zayden paused before he replied, "Yeah, he did."

"Why?"

"Because of you. He wanted to create a better world for you. A safer one."

Emma’s eyes filled with tears again.

"Did it work?"

Zayden looked at her sincerely and said, "Yeah. Alpha is gone, his empire is down for the count, hundreds of girls are free now, and a bunch of politicians are locked up. The world’s a better place."

There was a moment of silence. "But it cost him his life. I’m really sorry about that."

Emma wiped her eyes. "Me too."

They stood there quietly, two people connected by loss and sacrifice.

Zayn came up beside Emma and glanced at his brother. "We should head out. Emma needs to rest."

Zayden agreed. "Totally."

He turned to Emma. "If you ever need anything, just call me, okay?"

Emma nodded. "I will. Thanks."

Isabella walked over. "Emma, you’re welcome to crash with us at the estate for as long as you need."

Emma looked a bit shocked. "I, I don’t want to be a bother—"

"You’re not a bother. You’re family."

Enzo agreed. "She’s right. Our place is your place."

Emma felt tears coming again, but this time they were different, not from sadness, but from feeling thankful.

"Thanks. That means a lot more than you realize," she said.

Zayn wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Come on. Let’s get you home."

Everyone started to walk toward the cars, moving slowly and quietly.

Aylin walked next to Zayden, who was limping a little and trying to hide it. She took his hand. He looked at her, and she smiled. "Lean on me if you need to."

Zayden squeezed her hand tightly. "I always need to."

Aylin’s heart felt full as they got to the cars.

Black SUVs were waiting for them. They all got in.

Zayn helped Emma into the car, and she settled into her seat, feeling wiped out and emotionally drained but somehow lighter, as though a weight had been lifted. She had said goodbye to Alexander, faced her feelings, and let herself mourn. It wasn’t over, not by a long shot.

There would still be more pain, more questions, and more sleepless nights.

But for now... she had Zayn.

And she had family. Real family.

People who actually cared about her—not out of obligation or guilt, but because they truly wanted to... And that was more than enough.

Zayn slid in next to her and closed the door. The driver pulled away, heading away from the church, from the cemetery... and from the past.

Emma looked out the window, watching the trees go by, and felt Zayn’s hand slip into hers.

For the first time in two days, she squeezed his hand back.

One Week Later

The mansion was buzzing with life, more lively than it had been in years. Family, friends, and allies filled every room and hallway, all coming together to heal and recover.

Zayden was doing a lot better. He could walk without pain and breathe easily. His bullet wound was healing, slowly but surely.

Emma was on the mend, too. She was still a bit quieter than she used to be and working through her feelings, but she was no longer totally shut off.

She smiled now and then... even managed a quiet laugh occasionally. They were small victories, but victories nonetheless.

In the lounge, warm afternoon sunlight flooded through the windows, filling the space with a cozy glow.

Ella was sitting on the plush carpet, absorbed in a beautiful doll that Zayden had given her three days ago, complete with a porcelain face and a fancy silk dress.

He told her every princess needed a companion, and when he handed it to her, she hugged him tightly, making him laugh.

Now, she was lost in her own little world, making the doll dance and sharing stories that were hers alone to tell.

Sarah was nearby on the couch, watching her daughter smile. But her smile felt fragile because she knew she couldn’t keep the truth from Ella much longer.

It had been over a week since Michael’s funeral... and a week since Alexander was laid to rest.

A week since Ella had asked when "Dad" was coming back.

Sarah had been making excuses, telling her he was busy.

But Ella was sharp... too sharp. She could feel something was wrong—and Sarah knew she couldn’t hide the truth any longer.

Taking a deep breath, she said, "Ella."

Ella looked up with a smile. "Yes, Mom?"

"Can you come sit with me for a minute? I need to talk to you about something important."

Ella’s expression turned serious. She got up, walked over, and climbed onto the couch next to Sarah.

"What is it?" she asked.

Sarah took Ella’s small, soft hands and said gently, "No matter what I say, you’ll always be my little girl. That won’t ever change. Got it?"

Ella nodded slowly. "Okay."

Sarah swallowed hard, preparing herself. "I... I was married before. Before Michael."

Ella blinked in surprise. "You were?"

"Yeah, to a man named William." Sarah paused for a moment. "We were really happy. We loved each other a lot, and we were going to start a family."

Ella listened carefully as Sarah continued, "But then... something happened. William just disappeared. We thought—" Her voice caught in her throat. "We thought he was dead."

Ella’s eyes grew wide.

"And you..." Sarah gently pushed Ella’s hair back. "You’ve been a part of me for a long time, even before he vanished."

The room went quiet as Ella tried to wrap her head around what that meant.

Finally, she said slowly, "So... William... he really is my dad?"

Sarah nodded. "Yes."

Ella looked down at her lap, deep in thought. Sarah held her hands firmly, offering some comfort.

"But Michael," she said softly, "he loved you. He raised you. He picked you every single day. That won’t change. It never will."

Ella’s voice was barely above a whisper when she asked, "Then... where is he? Why didn’t he come back?"

Sarah took a deep breath; this part was tough.

"Michael... made some bad choices," she said gently. "He got mixed up in stuff that hurt people, things he shouldn’t have done."

There was a pause.

"And because of that... he can’t come back anymore."

Ella looked up. "Can’t? Or won’t?"

Tears filled Sarah’s eyes.

"Can’t."

Ella’s voice dropped even lower. "Is he... gone?"

Sarah pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly.

"Yes," she whispered. "He’s gone."

Ella stayed still, trying to process everything.

"Did he... did he love me?" she asked quietly.

Sarah leaned back to look at her daughter.

"Yes. More than anything. You were his whole world."

"Then why did he mess up?"

Sarah realized she didn’t really have a good answer for that.

"I’m not sure, kiddo. Sometimes people mess up, even the ones that care about us."

Ella nodded slowly. Then she asked, "So, where’s William now?"

Sarah started to reply, but a voice came from the doorway.

"I’m here."

Both turned to see William leaning against the doorframe. His eyes were red, and his face looked pale. He had heard everything... every word.

Sarah locked eyes with him. They didn’t say anything; they just held each other’s gaze. So much passed between them: sadness, understanding, forgiveness, hope... silent but powerful.

Ella slid off the couch and walked toward William, stopping a few feet away. She looked up at him and said softly, "So, you’re my dad. My mom just told me."

William knelt down to meet her eye level. "Yeah," he said, his voice shaky. "I’m your dad."

Ella studied him, his face, his eyes, his hands... trying to find resemblances, looking for proof.

"You have my eyes," William said gently, "and your mom’s face."

Ella touched her eyes and looked at William, realizing it: the same shape, the same angle.

"Why did you take off?" she asked.

William flinched. "I didn’t take off. I was taken by some bad people who kept me from you and your mom for a long time."

"But you’re back now."

"Yeah. I’m back now."

Ella asked, "Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you’re my dad?"

William responded, "It just wasn’t the right time, and I didn’t want to hurt you."

Ella tilted her head. "Are you staying?"

William looked over at Sarah, who gave him a small nod.

He looked back at Ella and said, "If you want me to stay... then yeah. I’m here."

Ella thought about it for a moment. Finally, she asked, "Do you like dinosaurs?"

William blinked in surprise and then grinned. "Yeah, I totally love dinosaurs."

"What’s your favorite?" Ella asked excitedly.

"Velociraptor," he said.

Ella’s face lit up. "Same here!"

William let out a soft, genuine laugh, the first real one he’d had in years. Ella moved a little closer to him.

"Can I... give you a hug?" she asked shyly.

William’s eyes filled with tears. "Yes. Please."

Ella wrapped her arms around his neck, and William held her gently, like she was fragile and might disappear at any moment.
