The Nameless Extra: I Proofread This World - Chapter 102: The Deepmarch Dungeon (7)
Ruvian turned around and asked. "Have you ever faced a spider-type Voidspawn before?"
"Yes, I have. Quite a long time ago. Why?"
"Good. The Voidspawn inside is one of those types," Ruvian said, pointing behind him with his thumb.
"It has a really strong sense. It can predict your next moves by sensing even the smallest hint of danger directed toward it."
Seraphine’s eyes slightly widened.
For someone known to remain calm even in front of monsters, that brief flash of surprise was almost something rarer than free money. Naturally, like always, Seraphine smoothly erased it instantly.
’So he already knew...’
’That ability of his is really something.’
By all logic, someone as weak and inexperienced as Ruvian should not be able to detect it, let alone identify what kind of Voidspawn was hiding from that distance, especially when the creature was purposely concealing itself.
So when he spoke with such confidence, it almost sounded as if he had already seen the future and knew everything would be fine — which was indeed his actual intention here.
’If this still doesn’t work... then I suppose I’ll have to use Silvena to blackmail her. Not my proudest plan, but desperate times call for desperate measures.’
Ruvian paused for a moment, carefully choosing how to explain his thoughts.
"Anyway, the plan is simple. We follow your way. Just as you wanted, we will not go down that pathway..."
Seraphine’s face quickly showed confusion.
’Hmm? Did he give up? Just like that?’ she thought.
But before she could speak, Ruvian continued.
"Oh, by the way, by ’we’, I mean... it is better if you go by yourself. Fighting in such a narrow place can be troublesome, so lure it outside if you’re struggling."
"We will stay away from that chamber and not get in your way. For someone with your strength, it should not take long for you to deal with it, especially now you do not need to worry about protecting us."
Seraphine’s eyes twitched faintly.
The meaning behind his words was very clear. His plan was to place the responsibility entirely on her.
"I see... so that is your plan."
She let out a soft sigh, almost like in her years of living, she could not believe what she was hearing, yet her face still remained calm.
’Truly... what an unbelievably troublesome person.’
Then, she glanced toward the darkened tunnel for a moment before giving a small nod.
"Fine. I can easily do that."
Ruvian spoke again before she could take a step forward.
"And one more thing. Do not destroy the eggs."
’The rewards of killing them would be meaningless for her, since the difference in rank is already too large.’
"It would be better to lure the creature outside so the eggs remain unharmed. However, if you are forced into a corner, you may use them in some ways to gain an advantage."
"It’s alright, you don’t have to worry. Even if you’re a Grand Magus, I shouldn’t place too many unreasonable constraints on you."
Ruvian said with a sly smile on his face.
Somehow, hearing that irked her, almost as if she were being mocked, while at the same time being deliberately provoked.
"No. There is no need to lure the creature outside. I can eliminate it there without damaging even a single egg."
She said, her calm face unchanged, clearly unwilling to be underestimated so easily.
Silvena looked between the two of them, surprised by how naturally Ruvian had given orders to someone far stronger than himself.
And more than anything, it almost seemed like he had tricked her into agreeing, while making it sound like everything was her own choice.
’Haa that tongue of his... he really knows how to make good use of it.’ she mused, with a casual smile.
Then, Silvena lightly waved at her guardian.
"Anyway, stay safe, Seraphine."
Seraphine simply nodded.
"Likewise, my lady. I’ll be back soon."
Before turning away, she shot Ruvian a quick glance. For one very short moment, something seemed to appear on her face...
But sadly, Ruvian didn’t get a good look at it, giving him absolutely no clue what that glance was supposed to mean.
With his usual luck, it definitely was not anything good. Even so, he kept a calm face, acting like he didn’t care.
’Sometimes I feel this blessing of mine is secretly sabotaging me. Why did I think provoking her was such a brilliant idea?’
Ruvian calmly sighed.
Well, at least today, he had learned the importance of balancing his boldness to not overdo it. After all, his blessing can also influence his way of thinking and emotions, making him calmer while standing against someone like Seraphine.
After that, Seraphine slowly headed toward the tunnel.
She unsheathed her sword, then cloaked it in a strange dark energy before stepping forward. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
In the next moment, her figure disappeared into the darkness, as her presence blended perfectly with it.
Now, only the three of them remained.
"So... we’re really just going to wait here, huh?" Rosalin finally let go of her grip on her scabbard.
"Not quite actually."
Hearing that, the two of them looked at him in confusion.
"Hey, I never said we would stay here until she finished her part. The only thing I promised was that we wouldn’t interfere with her fight," Ruvian replied calmly.
"Also, we can’t just stand around here doing nothing. That would be a complete waste of time, don’t you think?"
"Then, what are we going to do?" Silvena asked.
Ruvian glanced to the left chamber.
"We’ll head to the left side and clear out the remaining Carapace Crawlers there while we wait for her."
"Is it... alright to go in without a guide? And Silvena, are you okay with going against your guardian?" Rosalin asked, sounding slightly worried.
Silvena looked around the cavern with an amused smile, then she replied reassuringly.
"Well, Seraphine did warn me not to do anything reckless... but clearing a few crawlers nearby hardly counts as reckless."
Ruvian turned toward Silvena.
"What do your guts say?" he asked.
Silvena paused for a moment, as if trying to sense the reaction of her instincts before making a decision.
Then she spoke.
"What else? It’s telling me we should go."
She grinned and then said:
"Let’s go crack some ants."
