The Only Aura User In Magic World
Chapter 1179: To the Fishing Village
After investigating the island and found that it’s safe, we move there and prepared to build a base. I didn’t have to do much because there are other summoners who left behind some of their familiars back home to get what we needed.
The others will help with the base and secure the area. While Candy, Daniel, and I will check the fishing village to see if it’s safe to communicate with the people there.
"Alright. Let’s check if everyone understands our role. Roy, you will be a doctor. A traveling doctor who healed everyone while traveling all over the continent. I will act as your wife. And Daniel will be your apprentice. If there are any sick people there, Roy will treat them so we can gain their trust. If anyone asks, we’ll say that we’re traveling by boat for a few days and our home is in a village deep in a mountain far from here. We can’t randomly give names to a village or a place since we haven’t been anywhere so refrain from saying too much. Even if we have to, make sure that it’s not a place back in our continent. You guys understand?"
Candy reminded us again what our role will be. And Daniel and I nodded.
Doing this seems to be more convincing than going there by saying we’re tourist.
It’s an isolated village. Maybe they have their own way of healing people other than from what I know or healing magic. Now I can also learn their way to treat illness.
I can say that other than for healing people, I am trying to learn all kind of medical knowledge so I will be a better doctor.
But I think it won’t be good if I reveal myself using medical knowledge I spread back home. Because I think it should be something only known to the people in that continent. So people from here will be suspicious I they know a lot about medicine.
I need to not reveal too much about my medical knowledge then. Or at least I can say that it’s something I learned during my journey.
Right. I can do that.
As for my medical license... I hope no one will ask them.
Daniel can be my apprentice because he actually wants to be a doctor as well. And since he’s a healer, he will be helpful if there is a patient.
Candy can act as my wife because she’s my lover. And maybe act as our bodyguard because of her level.
Unlike me who can hide my magic level using Aura, Candy can’t. But she’s good enough to be seen as an expert level mage by someone powerful. If they are not powerful, no one will notice.
As for Daniel, he’s an advanced level mage. It should be common everywhere. It’s just that he’s still young. I hope no one will notice.
"I know my role. If everyone is ready, we will go now," I said.
"I don’t know about acting. Bro, do you think I will do well?" Daniel asked.
"Just act usual. You don’t have to act."
He really doesn’t have to act. He will be seen as someone who is really interested in medicine. And that’s already who he is.
So we left the others who are busy. They even brought some other people to help. As for me, I just brought the elves and the Crab People. The Crab People will survey the area and the elves will grow some plants that can be used to purify the water and to grow the trees so that the base won’t be discovered from the sky or the sea.
We prepared a small boat. Daniel and I rowed the boat together. And we slowly get closer to the fishing village.
On the way, we encountered some fishing boats that moved toward us and stopped.
"Who are you guys?" one of them asked.
Nice. It seems like we’re using the same language.
Or maybe it’s like Candy said. They’re using the same language to see if we’re from the other continent while the people here don’t speak our language at all.
As if, right? Even monsters in Monsters World speak the same language. Why won’t a human be the same just because they’re from another continent?
"Oh, nice to meet you. Is that your village? I’m actually a traveling doctor who wants to learn more about medicine. Including traditional medicine. Do you mind if I come to your village?" I asked politely.
"A doctor? Sure. What’s your name?" he asked.
"My name is Roy. Doctor Roy," I said.
I don’t need to use fake name. Roy is actually a common name. It’s just weird that I haven’t met a lot of Roy in my lives.
Though I made sure to alter my appearance a bit using Blobbies as fake beard and hair.
As for Candy and Daniel, it’s not like there are people who recognize them.
"Sure. We have a witch doctor who helps when there are sick people. He’s also the Chief of our village. Maybe you can learn from each other," he said.
Nice. Seems like they are friendly. So we’re all moving our boat to his village.
Then we got introduced to the Village Chief. A witch doctor. A shaman. There are various ways to call them but most of the times they’re all people who learned the traditional ways of healing people. Whether their methods work or not, I don’t really know until I see them myself.
"You’re a doctor. Are you from the city?" he asked.
"I just learned about medicine from my master in my village. I’m not from a city though I studied there. I prefer to move all over the place because sometimes, I can learn the most from the unexpected location," I said.
"I see. It will be good if we can learn from each other. But we don’t have any patient so all we can do is chat about medicine. I’m sure you’re tired after rowing your boat for days. You can take a rest in an empty house over there," the Village Chief said.
They’re really friendly. But the more friendly they are, the more suspicious. I won’t let down my guard at all time.
"Thank you. By the way, this is my wife, Candy. And that’s my apprentice, Daniel. We will trouble you for a while it seems," I said.
"I don’t mind! Do you see the cliffs surrounding this village?"
The Village Chief pointed at the cliffs.
"Because of the cliffs, we don’t really receive any guests. It’s difficult for anyone to come here unless they can fly or swim very far. But this is a rather huge village," he said.
"So everyone here knew each other."
"Not really. Some of us were stranded and decided to live here. Well, mostly because we can’t leave. Even from the sea. The sea around here is harsh. The wave will push you back to the coast. But at least we’re happy here," the Village Chief said.
"That’s great. Everyone is happy and no one is sick. That’s good to know," I said.
After exchanging some more pleasantries, we entered the empty house that they gave us. The Village Chief said that the owner of this house went fishing three months ago but never returned. So he should be dead.
When we entered the house, I instantly used air magic to block the voice from coming out.
"How is it, Candy?" I asked.
"What do you see?" she asked me back.
Before we came here, she told me to check many things in case they have or don’t have something.
"There are vegetables. But there’s no land fertile enough to grow some corps. It’s all sand," I said.
"Then they must have a way to get those vegetables. You’re sure that you can’t find any of them? What about beyond the cliffs?"
"Yes, the lands over there are fertile. I even see some farm," I said.
"Then they can leave here whenever they want. But they decided to stay here. Whether it’s because of their culture and tradition, or if it’s because of something else, we need to be careful," she said.
"Someone is keeping an eye on this place. Seems like this place has been empty for a while. I don’t think it’s because of what the Chief said. About the person who went fishing and never returned," I said.
"Maybe they will attack us when we’re sleeping. What about their magic level?"
"I don’t think there is anyone stronger than expert level mages."
"Then we’re safe. They can’t do anything to us. Let’s just get some rest. If you see anything suspicious, tell us," Candy said.
Then I undo my magic and we acted normal.
The villagers delivered some meals for at night and we ate together. I doubt the food they give us were poisonous since they ate them as well.
But I know some plants that they used for the seasoning. Some of them have the effect of making someone sleepy. I guess they want to attack us while we’re sleeping.
Well, such plan won’t be effective on us. We don’t have to worry too much.
