The Prime Minister Seduced Me to have Babies!
Chapter 922: Reaping What One Sows
Lao Jiu lifted the quilt and got out of bed to dress, "It’s my fault for spoiling her in everything, but now it’s too late to say anything."
"She’ll be seventeen after the New Year, her temperament won’t change."
He finished dressing, casually tied up his hair, and reached out to Guihua, "I’m going to find the yellow-toothed man, give me some silver."
Guihua got up, opened the box, took out a small five-tael silver ingot from a casket inside, and handed it to Lao Jiu, who tucked it into his bosom and went out.
Only then did Guihua remember Yingzi; although she resented her for committing this foolish act, she ultimately felt tenderness toward her daughter, and walked next door to push the door open.
She saw Yingzi hugging the quilt, in such cold weather her arms, legs, and back were exposed.
She quickly went over and pulled the quilt to cover her properly.
Yingzi had been restless all night and just fell asleep; Guihua pulled the quilt but Yingzi didn’t wake up, turned over, and continued to sleep.
Guihua sighed and went out.
Lao Jiu returned after a couple of hours and said to Guihua, "The house is rented, it’s over in the southern part of the city. The rent there is cheap, only one tael of silver a month."
Guihua opened her mouth wide, "One tael a month is cheap?"
Lao Jiu picked up the cold water from the table and took a sip, "Do you think Xiang City is still the Xiang City of the past?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Now Xiang City is the capital of the Great Chu, the population has increased tremendously, everything is expensive!"
Guihua sighed, "Okay, since it’s rented, it’s rented. Once we move and settle down, it will be almost New Year, you’d better hurry and find work."
"By the way, did you talk to the yellow-toothed man about finding work for us?"
Lao Jiu nodded, "I did, but the yellow-toothed man said it might have to wait until after the New Year."
"I’m fine with that, as for you, see if there is any wealthy household looking for a cook, or if there’s a restaurant in need of one."
Lao Jiu sighed, "Restaurants are too busy, it’d be too much for you, it’s best to go to some wealthy household as a cook."
"However, you’d have to leave before dawn and only return late at night. Some households are very strict, and you might have to live there, not allowing you to come and go every day."
"Anyway, nowhere will be better than here."
Guihua also sighed.
Lao Jiu said, "Is everything packed? If it’s done, I’ll go hire a mule cart, and we’ll move right away."
Guihua slapped her forehead, "I’ve been so busy all morning that I’ve lost my senses, Yingzi is still asleep in bed, and the things in her room aren’t packed yet."
She quickly went next door, pushed the door and went in to wake Yingzi up.
But after calling several times, she couldn’t wake her.
Guihua turned Yingzi over and saw her face was flushed.
Guihua was shocked and placed her hand on Yingzi’s forehead, it was burning hot!
She hurriedly ran out, "Lao Jiu, Yingzi has a fever! I’m going to find Gu—"
Halfway through the sentence, she paused.
How could she face Doctor Gu now?
Lao Jiu came out of the room, "Is she very ill?"
Guihua nodded in panic, "She has a fever, what should we do?"
Lao Jiu pondered for a moment, "Isn’t there a doctor downstairs? I’ll ask him to come up and take a look at Yingzi."
Lao Jiu quickly invited Doctor Liu upstairs.
Doctor Liu carefully examined Yingzi’s complexion, took her pulse, and shook his head, "What’s happened here, it seems she ate something extremely hot, then caught a cold, the heat and cold are clashing, it’s a major symptom."
Lao Jiu, having spent so many years in the pharmacy, listened to Doctor Liu’s diagnosis, found it accurate, and cupped his hands, "Please prescribe a remedy."
Doctor Liu wrote a prescription, and Lao Jiu went down to get the medicine, which wasn’t cheap; five doses cost two taels of silver.
