The Prodigies War
Chapter 3034 Seizing Every Second
Once the mind collapsed, one's cultivation base would be crippled. Lin Xun just never expected that the head of the Taihao Clan would be so fragile mentally.
As Lin Xun flicked his finger, a sword qi streaked out and executed Taihao Tong on the spot. The Divine Rank law in the latter's control fell into his hands, which he proceeded to subdue in a few breaths. Instantly, every part of Sky City Sacred Mountain in this law's coverage was projected into his mind in finest detail.
He saw countless figures freezing in fright like stone statues. He saw the members of the Taihao Clan fleeing frantically like lost dogs. He also saw many, many people going crazy trying to leave Sky City Sacred Mountain.
The entire Taihao Clan was in disarray.
Without any hesitation, Lin Xun commanded the Sky City law to launch a killing spree. Taihao clansmen in the Immortal Stage, no matter which corner they were at, were blasted to bits one after another, dead in both body and spirit.
For those below the Immortal Stage and above the Emperor Stage, he abolished their cultivation bases. Finally, esteemed guests from the other Eternal Divine Clans who had come to celebrate with the Taihao Clan were also executed without exception.
Blood swept through every nook of Sky City Sacred Mountain like tidal waves. The scenes of death continued to be staged, drawing a tragic picture of purgatory on earth. Like before, Lin Xun did not kill indiscriminately.
Fifteen minutes later, he repeated what he had done with Vast Sun Sacred Mountain: he refined Sky City Sacred Mountain into his own. As a result, the wealth that the Taihao Clan had accumulated over countless years also fell into his hands.
After finishing all this, he wasted no time and set out again.
After searching the memories of a Taihao Clan's high-ranking figure, he had learned that the closest Eternal Divine Clan to here was the Wen Clan, and there was a teleportation array in Taihao Clan that led to a place called Infinite Territory under the Wen Clan. If he hurried, he could get there in half a day.
Of course, the time on the road was also when Lin Xun recovered his energy. Otherwise, nonstop exertions would only doom him to exhaustion no matter how high his cultivation was.
......
This day was supposed to be a joyous occasion for the Taihao Clan and the Ji Clan, and the whole world was paying attention. On such a day, however, the mountain gate of the Taihao Clan was trampled through, its Divine Rank law was taken away, and all of the clan's big names were killed!
This news got out very shortly after Lin Xun had left, setting off huge waves in the period of time that followed. While it continued to spread, he arrived in the Infinite Territory that was controlled by the Eternal Divine Wen Clan.
The Wen Clan, one of the twelve Eternal Divine Clans, had an ancient heritage and could rank among the top three in the Ninth Heaven Domain in terms of strength, making it a veritable behemoth.
This clan was based at Big Dipper Sacred Mountain and its Divine Rank law was called Seven Stars. Its patriarch, Wen Changhe, was renowned as a talented leader with a great vision. Nowadays, the number of Eternals guarding the Wen Clan alone amounted to four, and all of them were Law Transcendence experts.
“Patriarch, something bad happened! News just came in that the Eternal Divine Yang Clan has been destroyed!”
An urgent voice resounded outside the Wen Clan's main palace hall on Big Dipper Sacred Mountain.
Wen Changhe, who was studying a scripture in the hall, stiffened before he jumped to his feet with a scary look in his eyes. “What did you say, the Yang Clan was destroyed? Do you have the details?”
In response, the old messenger presented him with a jade slip. Wen Changhe opened it and after just a look, he froze there with a dim expression. The content in the jade slip was simple, with only a few lines of words and a scene.
It wrote: “Two days ago at night, words spread that ‘from today onwards, there will be no more Eternal Divine Yang Clan in the world.’ This has triggered strings of turmoil in the vast territory of the Yang Clan. Cultivators have traveled to the Yang Clan to verify it, only to find that...the gigantic Vast Sun Sacred Mountain was gone from the face of the earth.”
The scene entailed in the jade showed the empty piece of land where Vast Sun Sacred Mountain had once been.
After a long silence, Wen Changhe calmed down and asked, “Any clues on who did it?”
The old messenger shook his head.
“Go invite all of our ancestors and elders here, and be quick!” Wen Changhe ordered.
The old man left in a hurry.
Wen Changhe's mind was still reeling over the fact that the Eternal Divine Yang Clan had been wiped out overnight. This was no less shocking than the sky collapsing, and it made his hair stand up. After all, the twelve Eternal Divine Clans had stood tall in this world since anyone could remember, and no one had ever been able to shake their position.
Despite that, the Yang Clan had been uprooted. How could Wen Changhe not be terrified? As the saying went, when the lips parted, all the teeth felt cold. The tragedy of the Yang Clan gave Wen Changhe a bad feeling as he understood the seriousness of it.
“After the old ancestors get here, we must discuss a plan and make preparations just in case...” Wen Changhe muttered.
“Patriach, it's bad!” yet another urgent and panicked shout suddenly rang outside.
Wen Changhe's eyelids twitched. The flame of anger inexplicably rose in him, and he bellowed, “What again?”
Outside the hall, a cool voice resounded, “Nothing serious; just me coming uninvited to settle some past grudges with your clan.”
Wen Changhe's pupils shrank. He then looked outside the hall and saw a tall figure pacing in like he was taking a walk in the park. The handsome man's moon-white clothes fluttered behind him.
“Lin...Lin Xun?!” Wen Changhe gawked, eyes wide like he had been struck by lightning.
Lin Xun laughed. “We’ve never met before, yet you know who I am right away. Quite impressive.”
“How could... How could you be here...” Wen Changhe's expression quickly shifted as he struggled to believe this reality.
“I visited the Yang Clan, the Ji Clan, and the Taihao Clan before this, and they too were just as surprised. None of them seemed to ever have thought that I would dare to barge into the Ninth Heaven Domain alone. In the end, though, I'm still alive, while they are all dead now,” Lin Xun casually said.
The words were like a bolt in a clear day, sending goosebumps all over Wen Changhe. He shrieked, “You were behind the destruction of the Yang Clan?!”
Lin Xun nodded. “Other than me, there shouldn't be anyone else who would hold such a grudge and go so far for it.”
“You...” Wen Changhe didn't even know what to say. He needed to take some time to calm down. All of this had been too sudden, so his mind was in a mess.
However, Lin Xun refused to give him that kind of time. He kept getting closer. “Fellow Daoist, before you die, I'll let you know this out of the kindness of my heart: Today, the Wen Clan will also be removed from the Ninth Heaven Domain.”
His voice was bland, but it was like a sentence from the heavens echoing in the empty hall. Wen Changhe's heart lurched.
Fifteen minutes later, Patriarch Wen Changhe, along with four Law Transcendence Eternals and a bunch of Immortals of the Eternal Divine Wen Clan, was slaughtered. What had happened to the Yang Clan and the Taihao Clan repeated one by one at the Wen Clan.
When Lin Xun stepped out from Big Dipper Sacred Mountain, the Wen Clan's Divine Rank law, Seven Stars, and the wealth that it had accumulated over eons had become his possession. From beginning to end, there were no accidents. At his departure, he refined the Big Dipper Sacred Mountain and took it with him.
Half a day after the destruction of the Taihao Clan, word of the destruction of the Wen Clan also started spreading...
However, this still wasn't the end.
......
The Ninth Heaven Domain was too big, and every Eternal Divine Clan occupied a different territory that was boundless in size. They were also extremely far from each other. As a result, news took considerable time to spread here.
From the night that Lin Xun had departed from the Yang Clan to the time that the Eternal Divine Wen Clan learned of the news, there was a gap of nearly two days.
Meanwhile, Lin Xun had only needed less than a day to take down the Taihao Clan and the Wen Clan. The Ji Clan had only taken a little longer because of its unique circumstances. Despite some delay, he had been extremely fast overall, or else the Taihao Clan and the Wen Clan wouldn't have been so unaware when he had hit their doorsteps.
However, Lin Xun knew that he was only one person, and thus could only take his revenge on those Eternal Divine Clans one at a time.
This also meant that even no matter how fast he moved in the time to come, it wouldn't be as fast as the spreading speed of the news. Sooner or later, the remaining Eternal Divine Clans would learn long enough in advance to make preparations!
Then again, those clans had been on their high horses for far too long. Lin Xun was sure that even if they learned about it, they would still be too proud to evacuate their clansmen and escape.
News, after all, was merely the verbal recount of events. Those Eternal Divine Clans might believe the news, but it was obviously impossible that they would decisively abandon their nests where they had lived forever and take the whole clan on the run.
At the end of the day, how could behemoths like them, who had been looked up to by billions of beings since the dawn of cultivation, possibly be scared off by just a few pieces of news?
According to Lin Xun's prediction, they would at most make all sorts of preparations instead of fleeing, because fleeing wasn't the style of Eternal Divine Clans! And this undoubtedly gave him the opportunity to properly exact his revenge!
The only drawback might be that the more clans he took down as he went, the more likely the later ones would feel compelled to run. Therefore, he had to seize every second.
Half a day after Lin Xun had left the Wen Clan, he appeared in the territory of the Eternal Divine Jue Clan. Unsurprisingly for him, this one had already long heard about the Eternal Divine Yang Clan's destruction and prepared for his arrival.
Unfortunately, their preparations were only about strengthening the clan's defenses while they insisted on staying in their lair. As such, they were destined to fail to stop Lin Xun.
In just fifteen minutes, the behemoth called Eternal Divine Jue Clan, following in the footsteps of the Yangs, Jis, Taihaos, and Wens, collapsed under Lin Xun's feet!
