Chapter 266: Side Story 6: Story of Creation- The Sisters of Gaia Version

First, there was emptiness. Then, there was light—an all-consuming and all-powerful light that filled the cosmos. Sol was nothing, and then he was everything—an omnipotent being forced to be alone in the endless sea of space. Aeons of loneliness took its toll, and finally, the old god moved.

With a small movement of his body, the cosmos shook, and for the first time, he wielded immense power. Taking a part of his light, he created his first child—a beautiful son whose appearance was neither male nor female. With one glimpse of his son, the loneliness he had suffered for aeons vanished, and the second emotion in the universe was created: love.

"Khors." Cuddling the ball of purple light, Sol spoke his name and, with his breath, gave a part of his power to him, creating the second God of the universe. The young god opened his eyes but quickly closed them, blinded by his father’s radiance.

Millennia passed once more, with the two gods enjoying their time together, but a third emotion was created: boredom. Khors, with all his power, suffered, unable to use it anyway. Going to his father, he wished for more. He wished to do something.

Sol once again moved, and the Cosmos shook. For the second time, he used his immense power to create a daughter. As he did with his son, he cuddled her, said her name, and, with a breath, filled her with a part of his power. "Gaia."

It was a perfect world, filled with the beauty he experienced when he created his son. With a small smile, Khors looked at his sister. Shrinking himself, he stood on her surface and looked around. It was a step closer to solving his boredom.

Spreading his arms, he used his power for the first time. From his left hand, he created the first human in his image. A man with all his dignity and beauty, yet left intentionally flawed. From his right, a woman, with all his grace and beauty, once again intentionally flawed.

Looking at them, the fourth emotion was born: pride. They were perfect yet imperfect, alive but finite, unlike him and his family. The two looked at him, and Khors took their hands. "Live and procreate. Make this Beautiful world yours." With those few words, he left and sat high above the clouds, watching.

Once again, time passed, and Gaia went to her father. "I am alone, " she said sadly. "My world is perfect, but you and your brother never speak to me and only watch." Sol moved once more, remembering the years of isolation he felt for his daughter.

Around her, he created his last two daughters. Anahit and Morana. Naming them, he breathed a part of his power into them. They were forever left to orbit their sister, never letting her feel alone again.

Khors watched as humans littered Gaia’s surface. Unlike his family, they were different. Happiness and grief, peace and war, compassion and sadism, new experiences that they never would have felt came to life before them. Watching them try to mimic their great power always brought joy, and when they prayed for their help, it filled them with delight.

All was fine until it wasn’t. They had been created imperfectly but always treated the Gods with respect until they used their creators against one another. War in the name of Sol to kill others. Those who preached his name enslaved those who worshipped his sisters.

Their hate soon tarnished Gaia’s surface, eroding the once beautiful world. Unihabital lands or barren deserts formed. Unclimable mountains split realms in half. The sea was filled with creatures that never allowed anyone to cross.

Gaia went silent, no longer talking to her family as she suffered from the torment the humans forced onto her body and soul. Finally, the last emotion was felt by the Gods: Anger.

Sol proposed to heal her. Khors cried in sorrow for what he had done to his sister. Anahit threatened to wipe humanity out. Morana asked to restart humanity and make them better. They debated for centuries, but with each moment, Gaia became more distant from her family, and eventually, Khors moved, unable to bear the guilt.

His purple light engulfed the skies, and as he threatened to bring the end to humanity, Gaia spoke once more. "They know no better." Her voice was full of sorrow. Sorrow for the humans she loved. "They are flawed but alive. They do not deserve to die because they are ignorant."

Her voice echoed through the cosmos like her father’s light had once done. "They butcher you sister. They wish to rip us apart. Please." Khors begged as the purple light hovered over the realm of man.

The skies quickly filled with dark clouds, and rain flooded the land. "Please, " her voice was desperate as she begged her family to stop. "They don’t know what they are doing." Humanity looked up at the clouds and fell to their knees, feeling the anguish of the beloved daughter, who still shielded them from her brother.

"Enough," Sol spoke, silencing everyone. The universe trembled from his voice and all the Gods lowered their presence in front of Sol’s grace. "Do you really wish for this, daughter?" Gaia’s surface shook. She wished to answer instantly that she wanted it, but she was scared of disappointing his family. They all cared for her, and she was still willing to let herself be harmed for beings that spit on their names.

"They don’t deserve to die because of ignorance, " she answered in her courage. The Gods fell silent and turned to their father, the creator.

"You will suffer," Sol spoke again.

"I will. But they can be better."

"And if they can’t be."

"Then they won’t. They are not us, father. They were created to be free. To experience the things we couldn’t."

A silence once again filled the cosmos. No one could tell how long it lasted, but Sol spread his light again, destroying his son’s own. The threat to humanity vanished in an instant. "That is your choice," Sol said sternly before suppressing his own light once more. Khors looked at his sister with strange eyes but said nothing, returning to his father’s side again.

Anahit and Morana wished to act, but seeing their sister’s firm stance, they didn’t and continued to watch humanity coldly, ready to act if they ever threatened to destroy their beloved sister.

Humanity looked up at Gaia’s skies. Her tears had stopped, and all that remained was the golden glow of Sol’s light. Many fell to their knees and prayed to Gaia, understanding what she had done and thanking her for her mercy. Others simply moved on with their lives, believing it was the natural course of action. That Gaia had to protect them.

The world slowly healed, getting closer to its original design, but once more, Humanity acted in its own interests and began to use the Gods for its evils: war, famine, death, and destruction. The world that began to heal slowly went on the path of destruction, but the Gods didn’t act, recognising Gaia’s wishes.

Sister Alice looked at the crowd before her and finished reading the creation story of the Sisters of Gaia. Her eyes burnt with an intense fire as she slammed her hand on her chest. "This is proof of His Majesty’s righteous cause. You all respect the sisters. So please, when I ask you to follow, please do so. Because I do not wish for a single person to not understand the beauty of the afterlife, where we reunite with the gods and live in peace with them."
