Chapter 422: The Execution of Class A-15

Nevare POV

Nevare gazed down at Artur and his stunned comrades. She remained composed. In truth, she could have slaughtered Artur in a heartbeat, yet she had held back. It wasn’t out of pity or a lingering fragment of affection for her brother, but rather a matter of cold, calculated efficiency.

Though Wilwatikta’s strike on Heles had been a surprise, the city was no easy conquest. Perhaps if the quarter-Asuras possessed by Wilwatikta had joined the vanguard, victory would have been swift. However, they still had to maintain their charade before the Human Alliance. They could not simply withdraw a quarter of their military strength without inviting suspicion. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Seizing Heles immediately and severing all lines of communication was their only way to delay the news of their betrayal. Though discovery was inevitable, the time gained would allow them to better prepare for the Human Alliance’s inevitable vengeance.

Still, Nevare had never imagined Artur would invite his entire team to this gathering—not just Class A-15, but also Gathjee, the disciple of Stent Gaht. It was a stroke of luck that Robert had been tied down at the front lines. Even so, the death of the third disciple of the world’s strongest human would surely draw immense scrutiny. They had no choice but to push forward.

Aside from Boku and Goku, no other Asura could stand against Gathjee or the combined might of Class A-15. While Artur wasn’t a world-ending threat on his own, he was a veteran mage who had managed to best Nash, even if only with the aid of an artifact. Consequently, Nevare found herself forced to face them all at once.

Hunting them down individually would be a waste of time and offer them openings to wreak havoc among the Wilwatikta forces. Nevare wanted this plan to succeed with minimal casualties on her side. Thus, she had intentionally "toyed" with Artur. As Robert’s second-in-command, Artur’s presence was a beacon that would inevitably draw the rest of his team to his side.

Her gambit had paid off. They were all here.

Without waiting for the members of Class A-15 to snap out of their shock, Nevare lunged. The mana within her surged, causing the Vajra in her hand to flare brilliantly, extending into a spear of lightning.

As if teleporting, Nevare materialized behind one of the A-15 members and thrust her spear. Sensing approaching death, the mage attempted to release a mana burst, but the Vajra pierced through the defense with ease. The spear-tip was inches from his heart when Artur suddenly intervened, his phantom electric claws flashing.

Nevare was forced to pull back the Vajra to defend, but not before the edge of her weapon slashed across the mage’s shoulder.

The Vajra and the phantom claws collided, creating a shockwave that leveled everything in the vicinity. Nevare won the contest of strength. She swept the electric claws aside and hammered a raw fist into Artur’s face. Artur was sent flying, his face a mask of blood.

Before Nevare could pursue, a flurry of cherry blossom petals swarmed toward her. She recognized Rini’s power; every petal was capable of disintegrating human flesh in an instant. Nevare spun the Vajra before her, emitting waves of lightning that pulverized every petal that drew near.

She sensed movement behind her. As expected, Sigurd appeared with a flaming sword in hand. Capitalizing on the distraction provided by Rini’s assault, Sigurd hoped to run her through from behind. But Nevare read the movement effortlessly.

Once more, she used the Vajra to redirect the enemy’s momentum. The swarm of cherry blossoms was forcibly diverted, nearly striking Sigurd. Only Rini’s quick reflexes saved him; otherwise, Sigurd would have been obliterated by his own ally’s attack.

Nevare gave them no room to breathe. She teleported again, appearing above another A-15 member who was lying in wait for an opening. With a single flash of her blade, the mage was decapitated.

"KENTA!" screamed one of the female members of A-15.

From that grief-stricken cry, Nevare realized the man she had just killed shared a deep bond with this woman. Thus, when the woman began to attack blindly in a fit of rage, Nevare felt a cold urge to smile.

She easily evaded the woman’s reckless strikes while keeping a sharp eye on the other A-15 members. Artur was just getting back up, Sigurd was trying to close the distance, and Rini was hesitant to strike, knowing her wide-range spells could kill her own comrades.

Perfect.

Of all the members of A-15, only these three were of any concern to Nevare. The rest were merely filler. However, if they were allowed to coordinate and find their footing, they could become a nuisance. Therefore, Nevare did not kill the woman before her immediately; she was the perfect living shield.

"Lily, fall back! Calm down! We will avenge Kenta!" Rini shouted from behind, searching for an opening, but Nevare skillfully positioned herself behind Lily at every turn.

Before Sigurd or Artur could reach her, Nevare teleported again. In a blur, she executed the two remaining A-15 members. Now, only four of them remained. Nevare no longer needed the woman named Lily as a shield. With a single thrust of her lightning spear, she tore a hole through Lily’s abdomen, letting her follow Kenta into the abyss.

"Damn you!" Sigurd cursed.

Nevare and Artur exchanged another set of blows, but once again, Artur was sent reeling. Before Sigurd could assist him, Nevare was already upon him. Rini tried to push Nevare back with another swarm of petals.

But the same trick would not work twice on Nevare. Her body became as light as a feather in a hailstorm, dancing between the petals without a single one touching a strand of her hair.

The Vajra met Sigurd’s flaming sword. Sigurd was a man who lived for the blade, the finest swordsman in Class A-15. Unfortunately, swordsmanship alone was not enough to save him from a bloodthirsty Progenitor Queen.

The mana in Nevare’s body detonated, sending a powerful shockwave through Sigurd’s every nerve. Sigurd froze, eyes wide, just as a lightning-clad fist slammed into his face. His skull was no match for a strike delivered at the speed of a thunderbolt. Nevare’s fist punched through his head, and the master swordsman lost his life instantly.

"Sigurd!" Artur screamed, just before his friend’s lifeless body was hurled back, crashing into him with bone-breaking force.

Nevare ascended into the grey sky. As if pulling down something the heavens had long held back, she slammed her Vajra downward. A pillar of lightning, far greater than anything seen before, descended from the firmament—bringing judgment upon those who had kindled her wrath.

The hair on Rini’s neck stood on end. Marshaling the last of her mana, she cast a protective dome over her head.

"[Sakura Calamity Art: Dome of Flower]!"

But the pillar of lightning that fell this time was not like the one before. There was no mercy left, no more time to waste. The lightning came with the sole purpose of obliterating everything in its path.
